The daily Grind on Loudon St closed summer 2013. There is a Mexican restaurant there now.

The Daily Grind on the old town mall has a lot of potential and well, use to be booming. I think their lack of gourmet coffees has created some weariness. Every time I visit the downtown mall, which isn’t too often, but want some good coffee, this is the only place. However, most of their blends involve flavors. I mean, there’s flavored coffee and there’s coffee. This place just doesn’t understand real good coffee. I wish they’d have at least three thermoses to choose from. ie Honduran, Sidamo, Harrar, etc. And clean your thermoses more often, there’s the stale coffee taste lingering in every cup. So, aside from all the critique, the place is very cozy, with leather furniture to sink into and free wifi for us Unilocalers and so on. I’d recommend this place to everyone, but would like to see some improvement in their coffees for sure. A-ok…

Used to be great when we first starting visiting Winchester, but the original owner sold it and the place has taken a serious turn for the worse. The coffee is terrible and the food is just OK. We’re done coming here.

Starbucks prices without the pretentiousness. The drink options are also more exciting than Starbucks. The coffee at Daily Grind is good. I presume Daily Grind is a chain of sorts. There is also a Daily Grind in Baltimore that has a similar logo and drink selection. I ordered a caramel mocha nut. It was pretty darn tasty. It also came in a mug and had some odd whipped topping. The odd whipped topping was not traditional whipped cream or cool whip, but it was in a pastry bag of sorts when the barista created the drink. The tables are spacious. I can see this place as a nice study spot for area students.

20-oz. Caramel Latte cost me $ 5.01. That’s a bit too much on my retirement income.

It’s such a cute café in downtown Winchester. I always come here when I’m in town. It’s in the pedestrian mall which is the first walking mall in VA. It’s nice to kice back and people watch. They have good pastries as well.

Stopped in for breakfast.(Had the bacon, egg and cheese sandwich and a coffee). Coffee was just fine. Sandwich not great. Atmosphere was«off» too — this place doesn’t know what it wants to be. Maybe the destitute, toothless man sitting outside, greeting customers, colored my experience.(Hard not to be a little superficial when somebody looks like they literally just crawled out of a gutter.) I guess I’m not my most«open-minded» when I haven’t had my breakfast.

Like the location but coffee and service could be better

You know you’re in the South when … The guy ordering a latte in front of you is dressed in Civil War gear getting ready for some Saturday morning reenactment fun. Very cool :) For me, though, it’s all about the coffee. This place totally delivered. Probably one of the best cups I’ve had in a long time. The location is gorgeous. Tucked away on a small street, old buildings, and very cool vibe. Not so sure about parking though — there’s a big, tempting lot right next door with ominous«yeah we’ll tow your a$$ if you park here» signs all over it. Fortunately it was Saturday morning and I figured I’d be gone before the truck could get there. Inside the store it’s spacious and definitely the kind of place you’d want to curl up and hang out for awhile. We have a great coffee shop where I live, but, still, I’d be okay with a Daily Grind here at home, too :) Nice job, folks!

We hung out here for a while mid-afternoon and had some coffee, relaxed, let the world drift by. The guy behind the counter was really nice, very personable, helpful. The coffee was good — and after all, that’s the point, right? The shop itself is huge — spacious and cozy at the same time, a nice, homey atmosphere. There was a guy playing guitar and singing for tips — not bad. There are only two«comfy» spaces — one sofa and two oversized chairs. The rest are wooden tables and chairs. It would be nice if there were a few more nooks with comfier places to sit, but generally speaking, this place is pretty awesome. We were there about an hour, felt very welcome, had a great time, great coffee, moved on. I wish there were places like this around here. I’m sure it’s a rent thing, but all the coffee shops around here feel so small and cramped. There are definitely benefits to living away from the masses… Nice place — give it a go!
