Have you ever stayed in a motel with a towel deposit? Red Flag! Not part of a chain? Red Flag! Where everyone seems to be a transient rather than a traveler? Red Flag! We got the last ‘non smoking’ room which reeked of cigarettes. The light switch didn’t work. We returned to the front desk, returned the(unused!) towels, and requested a refund. REFUSED!(they relented a couple of days later)… OK it is cheap, very very cheap. It is also kinda scary IMHO.

I work as a nurse at a major area hospital in Winchester but I live over an hour away. I recently worked three 12 hour shifts in a row and instead of commuting for those three days I decided to look for a motel to crash at. I searched online and called around for pricing and Echo Village was the cheapest price I could find in the Winchester area. The staff member who I spoke with seemed pleasant and friendly. They were willing to accommodate my late check-in and early check-out times. I was pleasantly surprised when I checked in. The room was clean and had cable, a flat screen TV, and a bathtub. This was more than I expected for the price. I really only needed a place to crash but it was nice to have access to premium movie channels. There was no WIFI but, again, I didn’t care because I only needed a place to sleep. They also ask that you either bring your own towel, or put down a deposit to use one of theirs. They informed me of this policy when I made the reservation so I brought my own. One of my concerns before arriving was whether the area would be safe for me, a female staying by herself. The area seemed to be safe and quiet from what I could tell. I would definitely recommend the Echo Village Budget Motel to those looking for a nice, safe, place to stay. If you’re looking for luxury, WIFI, and free breakfasts, then look elsewhere.
