Went there for lunch with a friend of mine… NEVER again. Only one guy working I’m thinking the owner. Took 15 minutes for gyros. No one else in restaurant that should have been a sign. Out of Pepsi, Rootbeer and Mountain Dew. So we got diet pepsi. Went to get a refill and was told I’m too busy come back in 10 minutes. Really? Stay away from this place at all costs!!! Not to mention I’m feeling the effects of yesterdays lunch today… UGH

Half hour wait for a gyro?! With one visible customer in front of me? This is a mall food court, right?

I have had their kabobs several times. I moved from northern Virginia to Stephens City so I have had the privilege to sample authentic kabobs in Sterling, Arlington, Centreville, Ashburn, and Reston. My favorite kabob place is Shir Shimy. Kabob House does offer some tasty desserts. Their bak lava is good. I don’t like their kabobs. Their chicken is too dry. Their beef lacks flavor. They don’t offer the seasonings, dips, chick peas, sides, etc that other authentic kabob places offer. I didn’t like their food and I thought their prices were very high for what they provided. Their gyro is good. I do recommend it.

I had no idea this place existed. Last time I was at Apple Blossom Mall(many moons ago) I could swear this was a McDonalds. The space is much better spent on this kabob spot. Shortly after deciding my best-of-the-mall-food-court bets would be Sbarro, I saw this little gem. There is a large dining area but no one was eating. Which means we ended up getting great service and two bonus cups of strawberry ice cream following our meal, just because(as far as I could tell… we did tip nicely though, so that could have helped). I had the felafel platter which wasn’t the best I’ve ever had, but it was wonderful and I must admit, unexpected for the mall food court in Winchester. We will definitely be back again now that we know this place is here!

Here’s a tip: You can judge the authenticity of an Afghani restaurant by how many Michael Jackson posters are on the walls. Don’t be fooled by the fact that this place just happens to be in a mall food court, because it’s pretty good food. Unlike the nearby ZZ Kabob, the Kabob House has fast, friendly service, and I didn’t feel like I was inconveniencing the staff by placing an order. Great food too, and well worth the money.

Food is alright, however, it is kind of pricey. The décor is old and the place looks like it needs renovation. The lamb and gyros are mediocre, the chicken kabob platter was ok, though, like Steven S. said, the portions are small. The restaurant is always empty when we go, even on weekends. People sometimes walk in for the ice cream, which is also a rip off compared to other places. I got ice cream from the Chick-Fil-A next door.
