I love cupcakes. I’m a baker. And I LOVE cupcakes. So it pains me to give a cupcake place a 1-star review. My friend and I were driving by and saw the«cupcakery» sign so I immediately gasped, pointed, and we pulled over. To date, we have been there twice and she has been sold out TWICE. She(who I figure is ‘Mel’) was very nice and did apologize for running out, but TWICE? The visits were a few weeks apart as well. If a business keeps selling out, you plan ahead to make more. As I said, Mel was nice and apologized and did tell us about some of her flavors, and invited us to come by again and use the free wi-fi. On another note, the cupcakes looked… well…sort of awful. Cupcakes, especially from a bakery/business, should look pretty/cute/etc. –not like a 7 year old helped Mommy bake. She had one of each flavor(that she of course no longer had available) displayed on the counter. I don’t even remember what the flavor was, but it had white frosting, which looked like it was slopped on with an attempt to make a spiral, instead coming out to look like a mess. It was just wasn’t appetizing. If Mel had not been sold out that day, I’m still not even sure I would have purchased one. The way they looked just didn’t MAKE me want to have one. I can give props and appreciate her efforts at being the first cupcake place in Winchester, but Mel– please bake more and work on decorating!

FINALLY a cupcake place in Winchester! The shop is conveniently located off the walking mall downtown. It’s a smaller shop, but a warm atmosphere and the owner(i’m assuming!) was super friendly. Sadly, we must have come a little late, as there weren’t a ton of choices left, but I can’t complain about the ones we tried. The strawberry shortcake cupcake was very tasty, with a glazed strawberry filling and whipped cream frosting. The cake was very yummy, and the frosting was good, if a little sweet. I also tried the Almond Joy cupcake, and YUM. Lots of coconut in the filling and frosting, tasty chocolate cake. They were actually out of cupcakes when my friend and I came back for a second cupcake, and they made us two fresh ones! Such great service and super friendly. My friends both loved their cupcakes(chocolate chip cookie dough and another almond joy). I can’t wait to go back, but I will definitely pre-order some, since they are very new and make small batches. It was very clear they would be more than happy to make cupcakes for you, if you don’t mind ordering ahead, even if just a couple of them. Go check this place out, so we don’t lose a good cupcakery in Winnie!
