I grew up in Winchester. I drove by this place a million times. I had no idea anything of note was up here. Only recently has this place been able to «commercialize» on it’s success. - The Wright-Locke Farm is a working farm right in Winchester. There are no other working farms left in Winchester. I’m sure this is the last one. Here you can: — Walk the trails — they’re open to the public for free! — Watch out for the free-range chickens walking around! — Buy stuff at the farm stand — Rent out their barn and area for private events — Take a school field trip here to learn about the farm It’s a great place. It almost wasn’t — they recently fended off an attempt to build condos /houses along much of their acreage. Can you believe it? It’s like no one cares about farms anymore. The town allowed the Wright Locke Land Trust to buy the farm. The trust is made up of hundreds of donations from residents to save the farm. It’s a special place. You can see the encroaching homes along the edge of the place — it’s kind of sad to see a farm trying to be pushed out of existence — go now while it’s still there!!!
