The food is all I’m basing my review on. I don’t drink so I can’t tell you about the amazing beer selection. The staff is always nice and courteous. The food is your typical bar food. Nothing stands out. The buffalo chicken fries are pretty good and the wraps are ok. If you’re in town and want a drink this isn’t a bad choice it’s pretty average, quiet and a cute atmosphere.

If you’re there to drink, have fun. Lots of choices and new brews all the time. Don’t forget your designated driver. If you’re there for food be prepared to wait for service and food. We go here quite often, kids love their pizza, dad loves the wings. We have waited as long as 30 mins to be waited on. We’ve watched others enter and leave on several occasions, due to lack of service.

We use to be regulars here and enjoy the great food and drink specials. Best night to go out is Thursday is $ 1 domestic lights which is an awesome deal. Another great night is Tuesday’s for ½ pizza! The pizza here is great! They have plenty of beer choices so check the web page regularly. Service is great too… We haven’t really eaten here so it is difficult to help about the food other than pizza.

They get two stars for being a somewhat unique establishment for the area. The hipster-like micro brews, local bands and«foodie» mentality are hard to find around here. For these reasons alone, it’s definitely worth checking out. However, the service is sub-fast food. McDonalds employees at least try to be polite. I was on a blind date, super nervous and, barely able to hold a conversation. I ordered the Portabello sandwich. In my defense, I’ve seen this on menus before and, generally, it’s served as a chicken breast substitute. I.e. same fixens. This sandwich was literally a mushroom cap on a bun, nothing else. When I received it, I politely asked my waiter if I could get some lettuce, tomato, mayo and cheese as well… He proceeded to loudly(like, all of the tables around us witnessed him humiliating me) question why I had’t read the menu and, why, would I want to send it back to the kitchen? As if I had just insulted his mother. He took it back but, I didn’t feel confident enough that someone’s DNA had missed my sandwich to eat it. The whole scene was so weird and uncomfortable that I never heard from my date again… In case you decide to frequent this establishment, the uppity waiter in question is approximately 5’9″ with sandy blond short hair and an average«I’m too cool to work out» build. Don’t eat what he serves you… I’ve never been back, I can buy micro brews and cook my own awesome food for far less than these rude a-holes charge… easy choice.

Excellent beer snob place, and the food is quite good. Its all good, I really like the pot roast and peirogies. I’ve read some reviews on Unilocal, that go something like«compared to when I was on holiday in the south of france»… I gave this place small town in PA bar 5 stars, in DC where I live this would be 4.

Best beer in town, I miss the one bar tender that pored Guinness correctly. It was the only time I ever received a proper pour in this town. It even had a shamrock! The waiter that seems to always be working is great! He loves his beer and knows what he’s talking about! Food is always on point as well, usually fast but who minds waiting if you have a great brew in your hand?

Great service, great beer, good food. It’s a fun place to meet friends and knock back a few or bring the kids for a pizza. Love this place.

Probably my favorite bar in Johnstown. Fantastic drink selection and their daily specials are incredible. ½ price pizza day is my favorite(Tuesday). Most of the staff is super friendly and good at their jobs. The pizza and burgers are top notch, wings are also good, but a lot of other items I’ve tried are mediocre. It hardly matters with everything good about this joint.

I entered the Windber Hotel one day when it was freezing cold out and was warmed with what was the best bowl of chicken soup in my life. It had great flavor, tender chicken — the perfect lunch with a beer! And they have a great selection of that too… the staff here has always been friendly with me. I enjoy their crab fries and crab cake sandwiches as well. There’s a small game room in back which is always fun! This is an oasis in this town.

Wide variety of food choices — fries were very good and burger well prepared. Lots of beer choices too. Architecturally interesting. But the service wasn’t great — had to chase down the waitress a couple of times. As long as that flaw doesn’t offend you, Windber Hotel is a good place for lunch.

Recently restored, the place is real nice, multitudes of craft beers plus the favorites. Prices moderate. Food is good. We stop there always when in the Windber area. If your lucky a Coal train will pass by and rattle the dishes. Fun Place, friendly staff…

The Windber Hotel is nicely restored from its condition under prior ownership. This is a non smoking establishment. The prices are high for the Johnstown area, customers are paying for the trendy atmosphere the Windber Hotel provides. Trendy atmospheres are uncommon to this region. Their drink selection is the largest in the area, and they have an enormous craft beer selection. In general craft beers are higher in price due to the care, ingredients, and process in the beer making process. The beer lover can not find a better place to drink. Relative to prices for craft beers in larger markets, the prices are highly competitive. You can view their available craft beer selection at . The food is not the highlight of this venue. They have a solid bar food menu, but not incredible in terms of flavor. Either way, the food is more to add to your ability to drink. This venue attracts some of the better entertainment in the area. Expect a cover charge when entering on nights with bands. The types of music vary, so you aren’t stuck with one type of music, you can check their schedules at to see who’s playing. Some entertainment is loud, so locate yourself far from the stage if you’re looking for a quieter location to talk. The service at the hotel is great. The bartenders are knowledgeable about the beers and service is relatively fast. For a unique experience to the Johnstown area, experiment and learn about different beers, and enjoy live entertainment this is a great place to visit.

I can’t say anything about the food, but the alcohol prices being expensive… are you kidding me?!? The prices to wet your whistle are cheap! $ 19.50 for the old man and I to kick back 8 – 9 beers was a blessing. I experienced no problem with the service, as a matter of fact, I was amazed at how quickly the ladies behind the bar refreshed my beverage. If I weren’t in town for one night only, I would show my face here again. They had a decent celtic band playing, $ 5 cover, but I would have paid the cover after hearing them jam. One last thing, as a smoker, I was happy to find a bar that you couldn’t smoke in!

The food is mediocre and the service is always slow and terrible. I have been there at least 4 times and not had a good experience during any of them.
