A Cupcake For Later

I came across this shop accidentally because I parked in front of it. I saw someone closing up and I wondered if I could sneak in to get a cupcake before they closed. She pleasantly welcomed me in. This is when the magic happened for me. I walked in and it smelled deliciously like cake baking in the oven. Why is this surprising, after all it’s a bakery? Well, for some reason, most bakeries I enter do not smell like someone’s kitchen in the mist of baking a cake. Yum! So before I even saw the cupcakes, the bakery already had me at the magnificent scent of baking. Then, I saw the cupcake beauties. They looked so good I figured ok, it’s not going to taste half as good as it looks. I was wrong! It tasted better than I imagined. I don’t live in this area but will be driving back on occasion for more delicious cupcakes.

This is such a cute bakery! I was looking for a cupcake place around UConn and found this one not to far from campus. One of my favorite cupcakes is the chocolate covered strawberry. I also love all the trinkets and cute cupcake stuff there. Absolutely adore this cupcake shop.

Most amazing cupcakes! So much variety with flavors and the owner Cheryl is always creating new ones! You must stop in and grab a cupcake for now and one for later because they are that good! Only problem is picking a flavor! Absolutely wonderful!

Amazing fresh moist cupcakes with lots of creamy frosting. I drive 30 minutes from Ashford just to buy their delicious cupcakes. Excellent customer service and the best cupcakes. Worth the drive. Parking is on the street. A Cupcake for Later is beautifully decorated and loved their Christmas Tree. Wonderful selection of cupcakes and I like the Maple Walnut and Tropical flavors best.

A Cupcake for Later is part of the Downtown Arts and Eats District on Main Street in Willimantic, CT. And the location is smack dab in the middle of so much arting and eating action! You can see so much just from this one location.
Owner Cheryl Preston and her husband have been happily sharing the joys of their labors with the community and have generously given to various events and activities. They are devoted to the art of perfecting cupcakes, cake, and even do birthday parties if you want one on site. Recently, a couple actually got married in their store!
I really like the breakfast cupcakes. And one other things I really like is the fact that you can even design your own flavor for your event if you want to get goodies from ACFL. Now I think that that is just divine! I could think of three flavors right now that would be winners!
Stop in the store, linger at a table. Enjoy your surroundings. Take a break from life or take your goodies home with you in one of their bright pink boxes. You won’t be able to keep it closed once you leave!
There are also allergy sensitive cupcakes if you are gluten and/​or lactose intolerant. No one needs to leave hungry. So come visit ACFL.

I ordered a white chocolate raspberry cake for my friend’s 40^th birthday party, and also some cupcakes. The cake was delicious – moist and tangy, without being overly sweet. The frosting was light and fluffy – and the raspberries were fresh and delicious. The cupcakes were also delicious and a huge hit at the party. Thanks!

Delicious! The cake is moist, the icing is sweet and flavorful and just the right texture not whip cream based or hard butter. The fillings in the middle are what makes these little cakes the best. We tried the Boston Cream, caramel sea salt with chocolate cake, raspberry white chocolate. All were yummy.

Excellent! Careful thought and planning has gone into all the cupcake flavors. Frosting is rich and flavorful along with the moist cake. I have tried over 15 different kinda and have not been disappointed in any of them. We got thirty to bring to a family cookout and they were the hit of the gathering. This is definitely a gem of a bakery. I will be going back in the future.

My husband and I stopped in this bakery on an impulse because of their cute sign. It is a bright, clean bakery with plenty of seating right in the lovely downtown section of Willimantic near the famous «Frog» Bridge. There is off-​street parking next to the bakery although it is a small, steep lot. The three staff working inside were all friendly and happy to let us browse the goods without pushing sales too aggressively.
They had about a dozen different cupcakes styles/​flavors on display in a case located near the back of the dining area. According to the signage, some cupcakes are everyday offerings while others are daily specials. The desserts are all $ 3.00 a piece. Steep but since it was our first stop in a genuine specialty cupcakery, we decided to buy 5 different ones and let the kids sample them at home.
Not sure of the official names of all of them. We bought a Boston Cream, A Hot Chocolate, A Tropical Pineapple, a Praline Maple and a Chocolate Strawberry Cream one.
All the cupcakes were richly flavored and moist. They were somewhat larger than an ordinary cupcake with generous portions of frosting on top. The individual flavor combinations were well thought out and delicious. We had a taste of each one of the cupcakes as the kids were eating them and it was difficult to choose which one was superior.
My favorite was probably a toss up between the chocolate strawberry or the maple praline but honestly they were all so good, that a case could be made for any one of them. These bakers know what they are doing. They are creating unique and delicious desserts that blow just about every other cupcake I’ve ever had away.
I highly recommend you try this bakery if you are in or near Willimantic. It is an exceptional place that sells a truly superior product. I am so glad I stumbled on this place. Its probably a good thing its not close to where I live or we’d be in there weekly!
