I just moved down the street from this little gem of a sandwich shop/restaurant/bar and couldn’t be more excited about being nearby. I have been to countless numbers of variety stores in my lifetime, and this hands-down is my favorite. It isn’t just a variety store it’s like a local meeting spot, it’s got a bar with local beer on tap… inexpensive, and cold. The owner makes everything from scratch including grinding his own meat for burgers and making his own dough for pizza. Yes, he’s a little gruff, he’s a little Maine, he’s a little… awesome! I’m a sucker for a good chicken salad sandwich. I had one here and it was amazing, not too much mayo, not too much chicken, just a nice balance of all things chicken salad. I went in for a beer one day during happy hour(talls for smalls!) and had a chicken tender basket. The guy hand breads his own chicken tenders… Who does that?! They also have a bucket of Bud light or Miller light beer during football games for $ 10, if that’s your thing. I can’t wait for summer time to drive down to the covered bridge and go swimming. On the way I will be sure to stop here for a sandwich and a beer.

Went to Ruggieros around 730pm to grab turkey Italians one night. After having no previous issues with the business calling in my order before hand, I did not have the time for this leisure this time. Walking in, the music was loud and unappealing, the store was dead(besides a few patrons at the bar inside). The owner was looking at us like we were unwelcome from the get-go(not a good way to run your business). He went to the kitchen, and yelled over the loud music, «WHATWOULDYOULIKETOORDER?!», I replied«two turkey Italians please», which he returned with«sorry, we’re out of turkey until tomorrow». Okay, no big deal. The woman I was with asked for a ham italian, which he scoffed at to begin with, as I took my time looking at the menu further, I decided I would like a steak bomb, at which point he proceeded to laugh blatantly like it was an inconvenience for him to make a sandwich on his menu at his store(which was dead, he clearly needed the business on a Monday night). He then stormed out back of the restaurant out of view. After feeling like a completely underappreciated and unvalued paying customer, I told the woman out front we would like to cancel our orders and leave. If you want to go to a business that treats you with respect, this is not the place. Hard working people who pay their money for a good meal should not spend it here. The owner is disrespectful and arrogant, and at this rate new ownership will take over and make this location friendly again like it once was. I will never spend my money here again, and neither should anyone else.

I just stopped in here for the first time. I ordered a breakfast wrap, with egg, bacon, onions. It is absolutely delicious! The price was perfect, but more importantly the food was amazing! I will definitely stop in here again

This is a great new sandwich shop in the local area. New owners bought the place and re-modeled it to look like a quint little pizza shop. Good sandwiches and for the first time the other night, I sat down and was served menu style, which you don ‘t normally expect for a quick corner store. Really friendly service and the chicken parmigiana I had was a huge«real» piece of breaded and fried chicken over your choice of pasta. Large portion that came home with me and enjoyed for the second time. The sign outside says they have homemade sausage and hunter’s breakfasts. I’ll take their word for it it based on my experience. There is a place in my heart for this little authentic Italian gem in the heart of Windham on a busy River Rd. and Route 202. Check this place out– you won’t be disappointed.

Best new restaurant in town. Had the Cuban 1st time here and could eat that every day. Having breakfast now, a dish they call«The Stinger». This is an egg dish made with Chorzio sausage they grind in house.
