What can I say about this place that hasn’t already been said?! We were passing through this quaint town on the way to the airport and decided to stop for breakfast. It is a local ‘hole in the wall’ joint with a country atmosphere. Everyone inside was very friendly and accommodating(even when I mispronounced the town name!). There are a plethora of omelet, breakfast staple, and sandwich choices. The home fries were outstanding!!! The bacon is thick and delicious!!! We were very glad that we stopped here. You won’t be disappointed!

I’ve lived in town for almost 10 years, and somehow I hadn’t made it to Mahaney’s in that time. I’d heard lots of good things about it, though, and this year I’ve finally been able to try it(although it was take-out, and not dining-in). Mahaney’s is located in the Poquonock area of Windsor, which is the northern part of town(going towards Windsor Locks). There is sufficient parking around the restaurant such that you shouldn’t have an issue finding parking. The staff is very friendly. When I’ve ordered take-out, the food was ready on time and the counter staff was nice and efficient in getting me my food. As for the food, that’s the best part. The corned beef hash omelet is very good — the hash isn’t overly salty and its flavor doesn’t overpower the rest of the omelet. There’s a good combination of flavors and textures. The home fries are solid as well, although they do pale a bit in comparison to the omelet. The chocolate and blueberry pancakes are quite good as well. Mahaney’s offers differing amounts, and in making your choice be aware that the pancakes are big. Thus, unless you have a really big appetite, you may want to get one of the smaller portions. Overall, Mahaney’s has a well-deserved reputation as one of the best breakfast spots in the area, and I’ll definitely return.

All we ordered was a bagel and it took ten minutes, it was to go too. Sadly we were the only ones there, so i don’t know what the issue was.

I had this place bookmarked for some time and was in the area so decided to try it out. I came in for breakfast and coffee and felt welcome after being greeted by the cook. I ordered one of their specialty omelet which was called the«quiche omelet». It consisted of spinach, cream cheese, onion. I also ordered home fries and coffee. This omelet had the right ingredients to be a top notch omelet but was not cooked or prepared properly. Spinach was fresh but under cooked, onions were either frozen or par boiled, which i cant stand and omelet was overcooked. Home fries were average and coffee was slightly above average served in a good size mug. I think if the chef would make suggested adjustments to this omelet it would be a big seller. Service was friendly and attentive along with a very clean dining area. Seats about 15 or 20.

This place has the best corned beef hash I’ve ever had. I also enjoyed the spinach cream cheese omelette, and the coffee served in nice, robust cups. I was on vacation from Ponca City, OK, and will definitely eat at Mahaney’s again next time I come. The place sorta reminded me of the country style diners in my area, even though the place displayed beautiful scenery of Ireland.

Unremarkable… Corned beef a bit dry, pastrami sandwich … Meh. Very good coffee! Locals seem to like the ambience.

Conveniently located half way for a friend and I. Cute little place. Great service. The food was okay. My veggie and cheese omelette could have had the veggies cooked more. They were almost raw. The potatoes were yummy. They come around and fill your coffee. They were very accommodating with the fact we had an infant with us.

Where else can two eat breakfast for under $ 15? Old school place w menu w lots of good options and tasty food. Only downside was blaring rock and roll music playing early in am. Good choice to go prior to flight at Bradley airport.

Really disappointing taste. Home fries cold and over seasoned. I think the cook cut an entire onion into my omelette. Yuck!

We had a party of 5 this morning and were told 10 minutes as they were clearing a table. A waitress emerges and demands our party and one other that arrived after us, move back to front door so she and other staff can get to the kitchen. We took several steps backward and she barked again«not far enough — keep going». We were all a bit surprised to be exposed to her morning wrath and rant but willfully complied. Making a long story short they sat the other party of three before us. We pointed that out immediately before they were seated and the staff member said he didn’t know we were first but he estimated another table would be ready in 25 minutes. Assuming a manager may have been present, we made the kitchen staff aware of what happened as we left for another establishment. They may have decent food but until they understand they are in the hospitality business, I’ll take my business to the Gathering Ground when I’m in this area.

This breakfast place was great! We were in town overnight/morning so we could go to Six Flags. The hotel we stayed at had the most disappointing breakfast I’ve ever seen. Then I looked on Unilocal and like a savior this place stuck out! Great reviews and 4.5 starts didn’t let us down. I honestly can’t say a bad thing about it. Best part was their homemade corned beef hash!!! OMG! I didn’t know it could be soooo good! Thank you all for a great service and a lovely breakfast :)

Don’t blink – you’ll miss this small place tucked into the corner of an unremarkable storefront. The breakfast was excellent on all fronts. The Irish bangers omelette was large, square and served piping hot. The price was really reasonable too – a specialty dish like this often costs much more. My server was attentive and genuine. The restaurant is staffed by friendly people and the décor is neat, unpretentious and welcoming.

Found this place the morning that we closed on our new home in Windsor! It really doesn’t look like much but the service was good, the food was hot and tasty, the prices were reasonable. Felt welcome and comfortable. Really glad to know that we have a good breakfast spot so close to where we live.

Thr food is pretty good. My wife and I needed to find a replacement for Counntry Kitchen going out of business. This mom and pop place is much better than chain food. The service is great and the bathroom is the cleanest I’ve ever seen! They say you can tell alot about the kitchen by the state of the bathroom. All the staff is super friendly! Blueberry Pancakes are huge and loaded with blueberries but slightly dry. Omlettes are good size portions and you can get cinnamon raisin as your toast choice!!! Overall, I recommend this place!

So my parents are always game for trying something new, that’s basically why i love them. Well that and the eighteen years of care, support, food, and shelter. Those things too. Anyways, I brought my parents here for mothers day because it was a place we haven’t tried before and it had such high reviews. I was NOT disappointed. First, the owners were on staff and so super friendly– you can tell this place is their baby, and they love it and all their customers. I have a lot of respect and admiration for that. Mr. Owner came over to our table several times and was extremely talkative and courteous. Second, the service is fast. We walked in the door and were out within an hour. Third(and obviously, most importantly), the food. It was really spectacular. I couldn’t help myself and got a single pancake AND an omelet(I know, I’m a spectacular glutton). The pancake was JUST the way it should be, fluffy and cakey. The maple syrup is pure and the butter is soft and pliable(which I think is important to note and I don’t feel that restaurants put enough emphasis on this. If I get bread, or something– I don’t want this frozen block of butter that tears the thing to shreds when I’m trying to spread it). It was extremely filling. I got an omelet with tomato, red pepper, bacon, and cheese. Oh, the few bites I had were so good. The bacon was crispy, just the way it SHOULD be. When we were leaving, they had carnations for the mothers to take home, which I found so endearing. I love this place, it’s one of my new favorite breakfast places(and I am a stickler for breakfast places, always looking for new ones). Unilocalers, you did not disappoint me! I knew my trust was not misplaced :)

We drove 20 minutes to this diner to mix things up a bit in our brunch rotation. Usually, I don’t understand what all the hype is about. With Maheney’s I get it. The place just feels so warm and friendly and cuddly. The food is diner food as expected: filling and cheap. It’s just so nice to be here. Our server thanked US for giving her our order. I ordered the Harvest omelet(so many veggies, so little time) and my partner ordered the ‘Strami omelet. We shared a raspberry pancake. They made it with REALRASPBERRIES! It was so good. A wonderful hearty mix of lightly sweetened pancake batter and tart raspberries. Love! I hope to go back and try them all. The pancakes are such a nice touch. There were a glut of customers when we first arrived and so everyone was left waiting for longer than acceptable, but then everything caught up and our water and coffee were refilled throughout the rest of the meal. Everyone was served in order. If Mahaney’s was in Hartford I would definitely go here on a regular basis.

Well, this place is yummy! This place has been right around the corner from my childhood home and I’ve never been here. It’s a shame too because I’ve clearly missed out on 20+ years of delicious amazing breakfast food. I love hash so I had to try the homemade hash. It’s unique here! This hash is made with corned beef and sweet potatoes! And nutmeg! It’s SUPER unique and not like any hash I’ve had before. As long as you’re okay with a little unique, then you should try this hash. My egg(over easy) was cooked perfectly. The potatoes were delicious. The toast was smothered in butter. Can’t go wrong. My Dad opted for the saucy omelet(which is a spicy Italian sausage, pepper, cream cheese omelet). It was DELICIOUS and spicy. I’m totally going to go for an omelet next time. This place is awesome. Definitely go here. It’s SUPER yummy.

Wipe your feet at the door, brekkie seekers — you’re basically eating in someone’s dining room. Not by atmosphere(it feels like what it is: converted space at the end of a strip mall), nor by the menu(diner chow). It’s the family-owned and operated charm that transports you, fair patron, to the big wooden table, where you keep losing your napkin off your lap because you forget about it and stand up and it falls and you want to ignore it but you can’t because it’s your napkin. Don’t worry — they’ll pick it up for you. Mahaney’s isn’t the fastest at the flat top, and the substantial plates of three egg omelets loaded with corned beef, potatoes and Swiss aren’t exactly life-changing. But diner food shouldn’t be cathartic, it should be hearty, hot and cheap, served by your substitue mom who appears to want a hug when you she drops off you check. And that, my friends, is what Mahaney’s does best.
