I stopped in at The Sustainable Farmer on a business trip. I am very glad that I did. Excellent gourmet foods from the area, and the two new owners were very helpful and personable. I sampled the rum and bourbon infused maple syrup they carry. Both are exceptionally good. I had not planned on checking any bags, and the items I wanted were too large in volume for carry on with TSA. They ship, and the notice of the shipment was received the same day I made the purchase. I grabbed some cheese curds and one of their locally made food bars for the drive to Maine I had after I left. Both were very good. The two women who just took over this establishment have a lot of energy and a good product. Hopefully it will translate into ongoing success. I know I’ll be back the next time I’m in the area.

I haven’t been to Sustainable Farmer in a couple years but this weekend, I was reminded why this is such a great little shop. There is a great selection of samples of cheeses and other local Vermont products to sample. When I walked in, the woman at the counter was offering samples of one of my favorite cheeses-Jasper Hill’s Harbison-a gooey and unusual delight-and a sample of an unusual semi-soft goat cheese that was delicious-Twig Farm’s Square cheese. Thanks for introducing me to Twig Farm! They also have maple syrup aged in a bourbon barrel which tastes exactly like bourbon. Also, they make a delicious maple«cremee» which is soft serve ice cream flavored with real maple syrup. So tasty! You can grab one of them to go and sit outside while you contemplate playing badminton outside or whether to wander over to check out Harpoon Brewery or other fun places within walking distance.

We stopped here for coffee on our way to vermont. They have an amazing collection of locally sourced products including cheese, wine and a fantastic range of spreads. A nice place to pick up gifts for family and friends. Super friendly staff. Would definitely be back again.:)

Another reason why Vermont is so cool… Call ahead to see if the girl is making pizza in the back! Harpoon Brewery 100 feet away. Great beer, great food, good people. Sustained!

A decent little place that shares a parking lot with the Harpoon Brewery. Lots of local products, with most set out to taste and try. There was even a wine tasting going on when we stopped in. Definitely worth a look if you are already stopped here.

Stopped here today on our way home from VT… great local cheese selection! The girl working the counter had us taste multiple cheeses, we were a bit too early for the wine tasting, but I’d definitely come back to get some more local products.

Great little shop just outside the doors oft he Harpoon Brewery in Windsor, VT. they have a lot of artisinal cheeses from local farmers, ice cream, jams, jellies, and honey. Great way to support local farmers that farm with sustainability in mind, the lilttle extra you pay is worth the cause.

Love the new pizza oven they just got. The oven is beautiful. I got the chance to meet the owner Terry and was telling me about sourcing all the local products they carry in the store. Make sure to stop by to get some gifts for friends and family but you gotta treat yourself with the local honey and Vermont Cheese that is always fresh. The place is a must visit when your in the area.

Cheese Tasting!!! I’m so there! On a trip to Vermont with my husband and another couple we stopped into the Sustainable Farmer shop. We stopped in after a tour at the Harpoon Beer Factory… we were hungry which always a bad idea when you stop into a food related store. They had plenty of samples of cheese with different crackers and chips. Everything was so tasty. could’ve been because I was so hungry but I did buy some cheese and they were just as good at home. I didn’t realize cheese can be kinda pricey but for the quality it was worth it. We got the peppered cheese(my husband’s favorite), cheddar cheese(it was ok), and the goats milk cheese(my favorite, but make sure to eat it right away cause it will turn quickly). The customer service was super friendly. We really didn’t know the area too well and they even helped us on where to go to have dinner. Check their websites on when they have their cheese tastings, it’s worth dropping by and trying their cheese!
