The Other Place

Very good food. Cold beer. Great view. A little sluggish on service. Sat at a table, waited awhile for a server. Even longer for a beer. Moved to the bar expected faster but was told server would take order. Blah.
Food was hot and tastey. Had deep fried cauliflower and a patty melt. Probably one of my top ten patty melts.

Could not love this place more. Thanks to Mary & staff for great Old Fashioneds (& Shirley Temple with extra cherries for our 7-​year-​old) and consistently good pub fare. Mourning that they’ll soon be replaced by a bridge. Stop in while you still can!

Got the boat out yesterday for the first time this summer with my ruggedly handsome boyfriend slash captain of the ship. Had a wonderful time cruising around Lake Winnebago-​just the two of us. Ended up wanting a casual dinner late in the day so we headed up to Winneconne and pulled in to The Other Place. It was pretty busy — you know with it being a sunny, warm day on Memorial Weekend. But we were able to find a spot to pull up the boat and a helpful young man even came over and gave us a hand (gotta lover boaters – so friendly). Inside we found two stools together and ate at the bar since the tables out on the deck were all taken. Still had a nice view of the river from perched on our stools so no problem. We got the attention of a passing waitress and ordered a couple of burgers. Again, they were busy, but the staff never seemed overly stressed and we got our drinks refilled in a timely fashion. Burgers were very good-​mine with sweet potato fries and he had waffle fries. I saw several shot skis hanging above the bar — we’ll have to try that sometime when we visit with friends!

This place is great. We didn’t have entrée items, so I can only comment on the service, location, and our appetizers, all of which were delightful. With no wait, we got a table in the shade with a view of the harbor/​river area. Great server who brought cold beers, waters, and provided prompt and courteous service!
