So after a long day driving, we checked into Winners Inn to a recently remodeled room. Walked the dog to Cheers and had a drink on the back deck. Came here and ordered healthy wraps to go, stopped by Bella Grazia for a bottle of Malbec and walked back to the Inn, arms full. Couldn’t have been a better evening in Winnemucca.

Good Mexican food. Not amazing, but good quick friendly service, got us in and out for lunch on time.

Holy Carnitas! We landed on carnitas night at the Toasted Tavern.(does that name refer to the state of the bar customers?) We ordered the carnitas plate and were astounded at the generous portions, incredibly tasty pork, and the mountain of fresh tortillas. Are we in the Mission district, or Winnemucca? As it turns out, some of the amazingly nice staff just happen to be from Barra de Navidad, Jalisco. Why do I mention that? That’s the town I visited every year to fish, sleep and eat carnitas for a few decades. Let me assure you, if you like real Mexican fare, this is the place, even though it has a gringo-ish name… Toasted Tavern. Note: I find the negative reviews of TT a little suspicious, since our experience at this establishment was over-whelmingly positive.

American food gone Mexican… Since the new owners took over we have gone multiple times… this restaurant has progressively gone downhill every time. As of today we were able to walk in to Mexican music in the background, my wife’s order came out wrong, the waitress didn’t check on us until she brought the ticket, and my daughter found hair in her food. When we confronted the waitress about the hair it took her a few times for her to understand what we were saying to which she eventually replied«oh» in a somewhat disgusted tone and walked away. As we walked out we told another lady about the hair to which she said, «ok, thanks» no comp on meal, no benefit of any kind, not even an apology. This restaurant has now become a place my family and I will no longer visit. It has gone from one of my top recommended restaurants for out of town visitors to one I will recommend they avoid.

We just had dinner here and were completely pleasantly surprised. The tomato bisque had just the right amount of spice and creaminess. We both had steak and asparagus. Our steaks were medium rare, as we had asked for, and very satisfying with the butter and roasted mushrooms on top. The grilled asparagus was crisp and seasoned well. The service was attentive and nice. This was a great, relatively quick stop for a meal on our way back home from Salt Lake.

I didn’t realize this was a restaurant. The name is misleading. We stopped thinking we’d get a burger or some«bar» food. The place actually is quite nice! Upscale menu choices yet reasonable prices.

I heard this place is under new ownership recently, the service here was TERRIBLE! the waitress I had was eating while seating tables with a mouth full of food. She forgot to bring me my salad. After obviously being finished eating(napkin on top of plates) it was 15 minutes until I had to ASKFORMYBILL. She then brought the bill but then I had to ASK for a pen. Definitely one of the worst places I’ve been. Get your business together.

Still 5 stars from us. We have come back now, under the new owners, a couple times. The food is still good, but slight differences… for instance, the shaved parm I initially raved about, is now just shredded parm. We have had the burgers and the chicken cordon bleu. Also brought some out of town friends who enjoyed their sandwich and burgers. Also sweet potato fries are available and you can make them garlic fries! My friend was happy. Next on the list is the organic margarita… thru the grapevine heard they are good and now I have two friends that claim they are legit.

I think I had the back up waitress. It was obvious she could care less about serving the whopping 3 tables seated. The food was poor. So poor that even in Winnemucca where choices are slim to none, I won’t be going back here.

We stopped in at the tavern for dinner on our way back to boise, idaho. I ordered the seafood Alfredo and it is perfection. Very tasty! For desert we had the triple berry a la mode. Again, very tasty! The waitress was super nice as well and took good care of us. I would highly recommend this place and I’ll definitely be back.

Some friends and I went here for lunch and we all really enjoyed our orders. All of the food looked great and was served in huge portions. I got the cheesesteak panini with garlic fries(you get a choice of garlic, regular, or sweet potato). The fries were very garlicky, which I like, so no complaints here. They were a little on the greasy side. Don’t get me wrong, they tasted awesome, but I felt a little guilty for liking them so much and consequently, eating all of them. The sandwich was awesome. Loaded with flavor on a panini, never had a cheesesteak on a panini but it totally worked. The only gripe I would give is it took a long time for us to get our food. There were 5 of us at the table, but shouldn’t have taken that long. Next time I go there during my lunch break I’m going to call ahead my order. I have heard that their dinners are not as impressive and by looking at the dinner menu, it doesn’t look that special. I would definitely recommend going there for lunch though.

The Santa Fe Chicken Sandwich was AWESOME, as were the garlic fries! Tomato bisque soup was way too salty though… Overall, nice place, and service was decent.

Completely disappointing. After a very long day on the road, we had hoped for something decent but realized we were in Winnemucca. Reviews were decent, so we gave it a shot. It was pathetic. We ordered coconut shrimp — $ 14 for 7 shrimp with NO dipping sauce. After our waitress checked on us at least 15 minutes later, I asked if they had any sweet chili sauce which is usual for this appetizer, but she said they only had cocktail sauce. If they’re going to offer a pricey appetizer, they should do it right. The shrimp was good but overpriced and incomplete. We also ordered the shrimp Caesar which came as a chicken Caesar. The chicken was nicely seasoned but dry, and the dressing was creamy out of a bottle — yuck. Plus the Caesar came wit grape tomatoes. Caesar salads don’t have tomatoes — not good ones. Lastly, we ordered chicken Alfredo — Awful! Noodles were over cooked and mushy, the sauce(also out of a jar) was watery and bland. The garlic bread was good. Unfortunately, the service was on par with the food. Try somewhere else. Too bad because it’s nice inside and has a full bar.

This is a great Winnemucca hangout. It’s out of the way. Good food, great service and decent beer selection. Check it out!

We ate dinner at the Toasted Tavern for the first time last night. The atmosphere and décor inside is a nice change from anything else in Winnemucca. It is advertised as a steakhouse and it has that feel. The prices are reasonable and there is a good variety of meals and sides to choose from. We had the bruschetta, shrimp taco salad, and traditional cheeseburger. The bruschetta was WINDERFUL!!! Great flavors! My shrimp taco salad had a beautiful presentation, Cajun(I think) spices in the grilled shrimp, avocado, and it was just the right size — very good! My husband said that his burger was really good — no complaints. He did not get the sweet potato fries that he asked for, but… We will be eating here again and we hope this place sticks around.

Tried this restaurant for the first time tonight with my husband. Off the bat I was very pleased with the décor and ambiance inside. It has a much different feel and a more quieter relaxed setting then anywhere else in town. Service was quick and our waitress was extremely nice and had a great conversation with her. I had heard that the restaurant was relatively expensive, and I really would have to disagree. 9 dollars for a burger is pretty standard at any restaurant. These were big half pounders and were cooked very well. As for the steaks, I didn’t try one but I thought the prices on the menu were more than reasonable. Overall, I was very pleased with my experience and will definitely go back. Also took a look at the lunch menu and it looked great. As a side note, the bar looked very nice as well but didn’t have time to get a drink there.

I’m so bummed. :(Knowing who owns it, I was expecting something much better. The menu isn’t bad but the execution of the dishes definitely is. My panini could have been pretty good(though definitely pricey at $ 9) but all the toppings(tomato, onions, avocado) were gushed to one side and all the chicken to the other. The chicken was juicy but the seasoning on it had a ‘raw spice’ taste that overpowered even the chipolte sauce. My husband’s burger, which was ordered as ‘medium’ was moving past ‘well’ into ‘briquette’. Bun was your basic sesame bun and didn’t even seem to be toasted. Fries were okay, but again unevenly prepared. Half mine had no salt, the other half were so salty I couldn’t even eat them. Iced tea tasted like it was made from a powder. Most disappointing of all, the service was terrible. Took forever for them to even bring us menus and water. When we were done eating and our leftovers were boxed up(for the chickens, not us!), the waiter went to clear and re-set a table rather than bring us our check. I could *almost* understand this if there were people waiting for a table, but the place was half empty & no one was waiting. We might try it again in a few months – if it lasts that long – to see if the issues have been fixed. Maybe. And only because dining options in Winnemucca are very slim.
