Found this place on a recommendation from a local friend. Situated almost under the town water tower, its location gives away the sort of establishment it is: down home. Now, if you are looking for fine dining, head elsewhere. But Hell! You are in Winstead, not Minneapolis, so let’s get to the good and the bad… Good: 1. The place is priced quite well. My wife ordered the smothered chicken(on special). Her food delicious and plentiful. I think they gave her a full chicken! It also included some cheesy potatoes that she she raved about. All this for under $ 7. While my food was a little less exciting(buffalo chicken wrap), it was still delicious and plentiful, though a bit more expensive. Top off our meal with two pints weighing in only at $ 2.50 each, and at dinner time. Quite a deal. 2. The food came pretty quick and was well cooked with fresh ingredients. The waitresses were very courteous and we felt welcomed. And the crowd in general(it’s a combination bar & restaurant, though they are separated enough) was pleasant and fun. 3. Live softer rock music on a Friday night. Bad: 1. We were a little confused when we walked in on where to sit. No one was there to greet us, so we just sat ourselves. 2. Service was good, but perhaps the place was too crowded for the limited number of waitresses they had. Just a touch on the lack of attentiveness. Overall: Great choice! I highly recommend this place to check out the local fair and folks.
