My husband and I decided to try it out and went there on Valentine’s Day. He ordered ribeye, said it was good. I had lamb shank from their Valentine’s Day specials. The meal was okay, meat just needed more seasoning IMO. Sides were fine. The good thing it was a huge hunk of meat, so I was happy to make another meal of it. The service was so-so though. The waitress was polite, but seems to disappear all the time. It took close to 10 min for her to bring a cup of coffee(which was weak), then another 5 to bring a refill coffee. The place was busy, but I didn’t see her waiting on other tables. All in all, I wasn’t hugely impressed by the place, but might give it another try.

Small place but amazing food and great service. We started with a glass of their house merlot and pinto Grigio… very good wine… then had the crab and spinach dip app with warm homemade sun chips so so good… I ordered the Stratford dip and my boyfriend got the bacon wrapped filet… both our plates were delicious… we will definitely be back. thanks for a great experience!

If you may have not cared for this place in the past, give it another try. Thomas is back and he is working hard to raise the bar. Improving the décor, many more inventive and varied specials, attentive but not intrusive staff — even introducing Sunday brunch. At its core, it is a cozy neighborhood establishment with good food and is getting better all the time.

Really great food. Outstanding service. We have been here a few time now and really enjoy it. The food is prepared excellent and presented very imaginatively. Check it out, you will not be disappointed!

We eat here a lot. The food is always amazing. The service is good as well. They just need to do something about the bar. I hate waiting for a drink for 10 minutes only to watch the bartender standing around talking.

My wife and I had a fantastic meal. She had the Pasta Florentine, and I had the NY Strip. She raves and raves how good it is. You cannot prepare a med rare NY Strip better. It is our first time here, and we both noticed the place lacks ambiance but the food and our server well made up for it! All around great meal, and a great job done by the staff. We will return.

We went to Cimmaron tonight for the first and last time. The menu pricing would lead you to think they are an upscale restaurant but the feeling inside is that of a sports bar. We were not asked if we would like bread and none was ever brought to our table or mentioned. They charge extra for the salad which is quite small. The food was good but here again, if I pay that much for a steak, I would prefer a better atmosphere. I did not receive the vegetables that were listed on the menu. When I asked the waitress she said they were not supposed to come with my entrée but I said well it’s listed on the menu. She finally brought those. When the bill came, they had charged more for one of our entrées than was on the menu and also charged for an extra salad which I had not ordered. When I ask for the bill to be corrected, I was asked two times if I had not ordered a salad and I repeatedly said no. We were so upset by the time we left, I have an upset stomach. This is the reason we will never go back there to eat.

Steak was terrible. There are only three steak options. Four if your lucky enough to be there for Prime Rib. Ribeye steak was much rarer than I would have liked, had to send it back to be recooked. Au Poivre sauce was too sweet, claims to be made with a brandy and cream reduction but its all cream and no pepper corns. I found one pepper corn. The vegetable side tasted rancid, like they were fried in pre-used oil. Service was lacking. $ 32 dollars for a lack luster, mid to poor cut of 16oz ribeye. $ 4 for an Au Poivre that tasted like caramel sauce. Draft beer prices very reasonable. But not enough to bring me back here again.

My husband and I drive by Cimarron Steakhouse often but hadn’t eaten there. For my birthday dinner recently, I suggested we try it. Not knowing much about the place, I went online and found they have a website. It has what looks like stock photos of food and happy diners, and their menus are also there for viewing. In the About Us section, I expected to read, well, about Cimarron: their history, mission statement, chef. Instead it uses it to advise visitors not to trust Unilocal reviews. !!! Strange. This should have been a red flag, but we went anyway. Cimarron is a casual place, located on Rt. 158 between Winston Salem and Clemmons. We arrived around 5:30 on a Thursday. The hostess was on the phone when we walked in and didn’t acknowledge us as we stood in front of her, but a woman who ended up being our server came from the kitchen to greet and seat us. We were the first dinner patrons in the restaurant; there were a few people at the bar. We started with the zucchini fritters appetizer; they were deep fried, but cool in the middle and didn’t have much flavor. The house salads were small and a little wilted. I saw the waitress remove them from the fridge just before bringing them to the table. I don’t know if they were pre-made or if they’d just been put there to hold while we had our appetizer. Dressings were tasty. I ordered the bacon wrapped filet, medium rare, and sweet potato for my entrée and husband had the prime rib and baked potato. My filet arrived not medium rare, but rare, cold, raw looking center, and the bacon was pale, not crisp. But sending a steak back never ends well, so I just ate around the center. I’ve had filets MANY times and like my steaks rare; this steak was very rare and not tender. Husband’s prime rib was okay, not something he’d order again. Disappointing for a steakhouse. Both entrees came with seasonal veggie which was yellow and zucchini squash, it was either overcooked or previously frozen, wimpy and without color, not grilled as another reviewer mentioned. The sweet potato with cinnamon butter was excellent, the skin was seared and crisp, the way I wish my filet had been cooked. With one glass of wine and two vodkas, our bill totaled $ 80.00+. Cimarron’s Facebook page is filled with photos of their desserts, created by their new pastry chef(no photos of steaks or entrees), but alas, our server didn’t ask if we wanted any dessert, she just cleared our plates, with help from the hostess who was free after seating three other parties. The space is low lit, no booths, just tables in the left section where we sat, and… well…it isn’t very comfortable, inviting, warm or welcoming. In fact, I got the feeling it is a local/regular crowd kind of place and they certainly knew we weren’t regulars. Which is okay… it would have been great to like a local, non chain restaurant so close to home, but nothing about the experience makes us want to go back.

Pretty much terrible. My fiancé and I went to this restaurant last night because we had a coupon and it received so many good reviews online. After our experience, however, we were quite disappointed. Below I tried to capture all the disappointing aspects of our dining experience. 1 — We got there and waited 10 minutes for a server to come to our table. We noticed other tables getting seated around us and greeted by our same server. 2 — Ordered a bottle of wine, which we waited for far to long before learning that they were actually out of it. No big deal there, just can’t understand what took so long and why the server failed to bring a wine list so we could select another bottle. 3 — We never received the additional bread we ordered(the bread was rather delicious) 4 — Two bites into my salad, our entrees arrived. Also, for some reason, my fiancé never received the salad that he ordered. 5 — After ordering my filet medium well, it arrived, not just red, but translucent in the center. Gross. So I requested that they cook it a little longer. The server took it back, but didn’t offer any apologies, and brought it back a couple minutes later without re-heating the veggies or potato. Not cool. The steak was still not cooked properly but oh well. I was also disappointed that the steak was not seasoned at all and didn’t have a nice sear on it. I am used to going to Firebirds and getting steaks that are OMG delicious. Not unseasoned and underwhelming. Also, there was no seasoning on the baked potato. And soley sour cream and butter does not a loaded baked potato make. I am not one to complain about service or food, but since I have never had a more disappointing dining experience, I wanted to share my feedback so other potential customers and possibly the owners are aware of the issues.

Great food and great service here! The fried pickles and shrimp and grits are the best I’ve had. Highly recommend eating at Cimarron.

Another outstanding meal at Cimarron. Starting with a big bowl of steamed mussels floating in tomatoes and sausage. Great pairing and damn good. Followed up with a side salad with a very good balsamic vinaigrette. Next up — bacon wrapped 7 oz filet mignon with a brandy cream reduction and mushrooms — sliced like butter — perfect medium rare. I’ve had this dish before — to die for. Accompanied by sides of grilled zucchini and a baked sweet potato with cinnamon butter and a glass of cabernet. Wife had pan seared tilapia with scallops and shrimp in a tomato basil cream sauce with parmesan risotto — delicious — hard to choose between this and steak — both excellent. Waiters were attentive and are good at making suggestions. This restaurant has done it right every time I’ve been there.

BESTSTEAKSINTHETRIADBYFAR!!! I go here on a regular basis and am always well taken care of from start to finish. It’s good to make reservations on the weekends but the staff is more than accommodating if you forget to make one. Try the Filet with Diane sauce, it’s their best kept secret. Enjoy!

Wanted to give a special shout to Cimarron — they saved our Mother’s Day brunch! We had a reservation at Old Europe(see my review and avoid the place like the plague) but it was closed when we got there. Scrambling for an alternative, we drove over to Cimarron which, despite being Mother’s Day, was able to get us a nice table on the patio in only 45 minutes. We’ve been to Cimarron before and, as in the past, it was a very nice experience: good food — we all ordered off the brunch menu and everything — particularly the Southern BLT(bacon, fried green tomatoes and pimento cheese on a croissant — was tasty. Excellent service — our waiter was Benny Stover was a delight. Of particular note was the beer infusion drink on the brunch menu: Red Oak beer, infused by a combination of Knob Creek bourbon, Cointreau, and Lemoncello. Wow — absolutely delicious. Be sure and ask for it next time you’re there!

Avoid avoid avoid. The atmosphere is pretty decent, past that, not so much. The food was terrible and slow to arrive. The salad had yellow wilted leaves, steaks were not cooked to our order, and the sauce was«accidentally» made inedibly spicy. Again, avoid.

I ordered the 14oz NY Strip Au Poivre. I ordered it medium rare. What I got was on the done side of Medium Well. Slight pink inside, very firm. So I held off, mentioned this to the other people in my party and started waiting for the server to come back by so we could try to solve the problem. By the time I had that opportunity, the other people in my party had finished their meals. Too late, sorry, I’m done, and I’m not happy since I’m the only one that hasn’t eaten and I’m bloody hungry. I ask for the manager to step over, and I can’t tell if he’s just had a very long day, or what, but don’t ask me if I want it re-cooked when everyone else is done eating. When I tell you it’s too late to do that, don’t ask what you can do to fix this. That’s your job as the manager. You tell me what you’re going to do to solve this problem. I can say that there were some other problems with the main courses in our party(cheeseburger that falls apart half-way through for one). About the only things I can really say came out well was that they managed to pour a good glass of wine and other people in our party say the bar can make a good Pina Colada. How can you get past charging what you are for a steak like that and NOT know how to tell if a steak is cooked properly? I can see fish being a little wrong, it’s a steakhouse, not a fish house. But mistaking a medium rare for a medium well? You got me in the door once, and normally I am happy to give a restaurant a second chance, but not this time. I just got the feeling that nobody’s paying attention to what was going on and actually knows how to handle things when problems happen.

I found it okay… Perhaps it was my fault, I went to a steakhouse and ordered Salmon. I fould the salmon cooked pretty good, perhaps slightly overcooked. The flavor was lacking. It looked great although I am not a fan of fish buried in a bunch of «stuff» as this was, I thought it still looked good. The flavor however, was almost tasteless. We ordered the onion rings as an app(needed a dose of comfort food) and they were great! The waitress was friendly but was programmed to say«Everything is great» you could of asked her what the front door carpet tasted like and her reply…“OOHH it is really great”. I like a waitress that will give you an honest opinion. Not all things are great on a menu. Will I return??? I don’t know. The proces are on the high side for a so-so resturant.

My husband and I visited this place last night for Valentine’s Day after getting a promotion on . They were more than happy to accomodate a reservation. When we arrived, we were promptly greeted and were taken to a table in a corner. The single stem red rose was a nice touch! The lighting was perfect for a romantic dinner! I ordered the NY Strip Au Poive and my husband got the 14 oz. Prime rib. Everything from the bread with oil and herbs, salads and meal was terrific! I wish we could of had dessert. They looked absolutely beautiful!(I was too full though) They have a bar and we enjoyed a glass of Merlot to go with our dinner. We were treated very nicely and the food was outstanding. It was a great first experience for us and am glad I went open minded rather than relying too heavily on some of the other reviews I read.

First time here. I had the prime rib special — melt in your mouth. My wife had the shrimp and grits which was fantastic. Ambience was good. The service left a little to be desired hence the 4 stars and not 5. We went with another couple and we had a great coupon which brought the all in cost per couple including tip of approx. $ 50. This included an appetizer we split, 2 beers each and steaks for 3 of us and as I said before Shrimp and Grits for my wife. An excellent meal at an excellent price.
