This is a decent place to eat if you have jury duty across the street at the courthouse. The folks behind the counter were friendly. The food wasn’t fancy, but it was tasty and fast. You can order standard grill food(burgers, sandwiches, etc) or you can get get a plate from the hot food line. The food choices on the hot line change daily. I got a plate with three slices of fried pork tenderloin, fried squash, cucumber salad, corn muffin, and drink for less than $ 10. I would go back.

I think this place is great! Our company just moved into the Liberty Plaza building and the 5 of us eat here all the time. I’ve only had breakfast but my coworkers have had many of the different lunch items. For breakfast I always order one of the specials. 2 eggs, 2 sausage patties or pieces of bacon, hash browns, home fries or grits and either 2 pieces of toast(4 cut) or a biscuit. All that for about $ 4.50! I got the grits a few times and you get tons. Get a good amount for your money. The grits and home fries are very good too. I’ve also had a few of the breakfast sandwiches, pretty normal and good. I actually got the special this morning! And then my coworker came in with a 2 eggs and 2 egg whites veggie omelet and wouldn’t stop talking about how it hit the spot J My other coworkers have gotten many different lunch items and they have never had a bad thing to say. One coworker says it’s like C&W Cafeteria on crack. I’ve never been to one but evidently it’s a big deal here… He also said it’s like what grandma would make. He would not stop talking about the broccoli and cheese casserole side dish. He let me try it and then I couldn’t stop, ha! It was soooooo good. Anywho, very good food and lots of it for the price in my opinion. Also, the owner is Thomas. He a young guy sometimes on the grill and sometimes prep cooking. Super nice guy. He’s got a good thing going so make sure you check this place out!

Well of course I’ve had better. But it’s a cafeteria so what do you expect? The selection on the buffet varies daily. The chopped steak was pretty good but I wish I’d skipped the gravy as it was heavy on grease and lacking in flavor. Mac & cheese is good and so are the green beans. I’m sure I’ll be back since the office is quite convenient to here. The servers are very nice and there was a sweet lady there who appeared to be the owner that was very gracious.

I’m not sure what bone Doc B has to pick with Courtside, but he/she clearly has one. This place is your standard cafeteria diner. You can order specials, pre-made food from the buffet line, or whatever menu items you want. It isn’t fancy, and it isn’t amazing, but it is dependable. It needs to be, because it feeds tons of folks who flock over from the courthouse and the Liberty Plaza building on a daily basis. The girl working behind the register looked tired. She probably was, because this place gets *slammed* every day during lunch. She didn’t offer me a smile when I walked in, but she sure did return the one I gave her. Nothing to complain about. About the Health Department Inspection – you can read the report yourself here: They don’t have a low score – they have a 90.5. They had a refrigerator that was slightly out of spec, which they fixed. There were some droppings in a storage closet, not a food prep area. I wouldn’t worry about any of this. Bottom line: If you are in downtown Winston and you need some cheap decent food near the courthouse, don’t hesitate to drop by Courtside Café.
