First I must confess — Hoppyum is one of my favorite IPAs — there’s normally a six pack in my fridge. At long last got to make a trip to the brewpub downtown. The hostess was bright, bubbly, sharply dressed and loaded with personality. Our server, eh, not so much. She seemed to be sleep walking and had to come back and ask if we ordered the fried pickles(so she could put the order in– ahem). The fried pickles were hot fresh and nicely breaded. My salad had fresh pears, cranberries soaked in stout, candied pecans, goat cheese and a ton of arugula with balsamic vinaigrette — really nice combination of strong flavors. I ate the whole thing! Going to be a copycat and try to make it at home! My wife had the hummus of the day(garlic and herb) — really hardcore yummy, enough to feed a small army and a ton of goodies including toasty pita points and veggies to dip in. The fresh Hoppyum made my toes tingle — yess!!! Nothing like going to the source! Jade IPA and Hop Job get honorable mentions! So based on 1) the food quality and quantity and 2) awesome beer 3) groovy and vibrant hostess 4) large booths and nice pub décor, I give it 4 stars. Sleepy or apathetic waitress going through the motions who overcharged us but did fix the bill with no problem was not factored in — I’m sure they’re not all like that.

We’ve been here many times but are just now getting around to writing a review. First, the food is always great but in past years the service has sorely lacked as well as the length of time to get an order. Today we noticed a remarkable change in both departments which we pointed out to the manager. He told us a couple of people had been let go. That being said it was a fantastic lunch. Our server Brooke was a gem and we told the manager that as well. She was a bubbly, personable and funny young lady and they should keep her around! Now for those who haven’t been and are wondering what’s good: the Reuben is pretty much the 2nd or 3rd best I’ve ever had, the fish in the beer batter is outrageous, burgers fantastic and the beer in my opinion is actually a back seat to the food. As far as appetizers are concerned, the onion rings are the absolute best anywhere, the fried pickles perfect and just had the jalapeño poppers for the first time today. Can’t wait to have them again. We’ve never been during the week but parking across the street in the private lot is a cinch on Saturday or Sunday… don’t know what people do on workdays though about parking… just have to wing it I guess. Now that the staff attitude has changed for the better we can highly recommend this place.

This is a really cool restaurant. It’s rather large, and they have a great selection of food. We got the fries jalepenos and pickles and they were really good. I got the Buffalo chicken wrap with Mac and cheese and I ate ALL of it. The Mac and cheese was super good. Can’t wait to go back!

Took my wife there last Friday night for dinner. Restaurant section was full, but the bar area had several tables without waiting. I know it is a brewery, but there is a hint of a stale beer odor in the bar area, but not too off-putting. I tried their version of the cheesesteak sandwich with fries and a stout. It was delicious. My wife had one of the burgers they offer with a Carolina Blonde and said it was awesome too. Very good visit to the restaurant and left very pleased with the service and selections.

Winston Salem is starting to grow into a great little city. I for one am a fan of the small city. My son graduated from UNCSA’s high school program so I had the pleasure of coming to Winston to visit a few times. This last visit was extended so I wanted to find a great place to have dinner and it just so happens I’m a huge beer nerd so what better place than this? The interior was large and expansive. High ceilings, warm woods and what I would consider the perfect spot for a large group. The food was great and of course their beer was spot on. Additionally, the service was perfect. For anyone in town, do yourself a favor and get here ASAP.

Had the blackened chicken special, fish and chips, and fried jalapenos. Can’t wait to come back! The batter on the fish was incredible, crisp and the remoulade was perfect. Jason was our server and was gracious and attentive. This was my husband’s third visit and my first. My chicken sandwich was like no other. The jalapeño bread was flavorful and soft and the avacado, onion ring, bacon, tomato cmbined for a flavor explosion. We had the australia sparkling beer. Sounds werd, tastes great. Must try.

Excellent pub food for a great price. Stopped in because we were staying close by for a wedding on a very busy Friday night. Staff was quick and food came out in a very timely manner.

Recently read an article online saying this place had the best beer/food in NC and I must say, I disagree. I’m here on vacation from California and was so excited to try this place out. While the beer was ok, I had a hard time with the food. I asked for mashed potatoes with my meal and was approached by a waitress letting me know they were out. I don’t understand how you’re out of mashed potatoes at 3pm. I’d like to say I’ll be back but quite frankly, I’m not sure. Food was beyond bland, so sad my experience wasn’t what I had expected.

We started our anniversary weekend here and had an experience different to any brewery I have been to before. We came in a little after lunch time and went straight back to the bar. We noticed our first surprise there — rows and rows of hard liquor along the wall. Wait, I thought this was a brewery? Yes, they do indeed sell hard liquor and wine. Their menu even had a list of the NC produced spirits, which was pretty cool. The bartender was super friendly and made a suggestion when I mentioned we had tried Hoppyum before. To be honest we had gotten a Coscto size case of Hoppyum once and drank it on and off all summer. I was happy to have an alternate suggestion from him which was the also hoppy Jade IPA. For a brewery with so many options I was shocked and saddened to see someone at the bar had a bud light. Not sure if it is worse to order it at a brewery or the fact they had it to sell. I am not hating on bud light but to order it at a brewery seems to me like going to an Italian restaurant that makes their pasta from scratch and ordering Kraft mac and cheese. The bartenders changed shifts while we were there and the second one was just as friendly as the first. He let us sample some beer even though he knew we were getting ready to close out and leave. You could tell he was passionate about the beer they make. This place seems like it has it all — beer, wine, liquor and a full menu. If we are ever in the area again we will definitely return.

This is one of those gee I wish our town had one of these. Look my town does! Foothill brewery is an awesome place for grub and brews. It had been years since I had eaten here. It’s Downtown, and parking near by can be hard to find. Glad I decided to come back, I decided since they brew there own I would try one maybe two of them. I ordered the Strawberry which is a Cream Ale. I didn’t pick up on the strawberry at all. However it was a very smooth beer that I enjoyed. I like the fact the waitress let me try it before I ordered it. We ordered cheddar fries as an app. They were amazing once they cooled down. They clearly were fresh cut, with lots of cheese, and really nice smokey bacon. If anything I don’t know if I would say there were to many scallions on it or the scallions were cut to big. They were big chunks. Otherwise a very nice app. I ordered the Cuban, I had it the last time, and it was just as good this time! Large slices of tender pork, gooey Swiss cheese, and a nice slice of ham. They use their house mustard, which they warn you has beer in it like their ketchup. The mustard is outstanding, I should have asked if they sell it as it is that good. I love you can order any side, so it isn’t just chips or fries. My wife had the Mac and cheese as a side. I’m not a big fan of Mac and cheese anyways, and typically out I find it blah(I can make it) or dry. This was fantastic, creamy, and full of cheese. I had Moravian Coleslaw. If you have never had it before try it! It’s like a cross of Coleslaw and sauerkraut. It sweet, savory, and a little sour. This is a good version, and a rare item on a menu. My biggest complaint was the service. It was hot and cold. She was very friendly, but would disappear for periods of time. If she had checked up on us I would ordered another beer. However when she asked if I wanted another I had already finished my meal.

First time at Foothills. On vacation from Philadelphia, Pa. Great wait staff. Great food and beer. Did not have to wait long to be seated. Wait staff very nice and professional. We’re able to answer any questions asked. Great wings and food. Food was served in a short time after order was taken. Enjoyed the Carolina Blonde cream ale. Manger did asked everyone at all the tables how was everything. Which is a plus.

I went here with some buddies of mine, and really enjoyed myself. The place was very lively, and seemed like a popular place for locals to go. They have a wider variety of beers to choose from, almost too many which is definitely not a bad thing. The menu is decent, they have a variety of sandwiches, wraps, salads, and dinners for you to choose from. I got a cheeseburger with mashed sweet potatoes as my side, and it was delicious! My choice of drink for the night was a strawberry ale which was tastier than I thought. The waiting staff is really friendly, and got us additional beverages in a prompt manner which I found to be really appealing. The atmosphere was really nice as they have an upstairs as well as a downstairs. They also have trivia night, which appears to be popular as well. This place is definitely a good place to meet some friends for a few beers and dinner so it served its purpose for me. I would come back again.

Had a burger and wasn’t bad at all. Cooked perfectly and had great stuff on it. Nice to sit outside and enjoy our food too. The beer is good. My favorite is the People’s Porter. I’ve only had a few of their other beers but this one is my favorite. Nice and dark. Went well with the burger. Service was great. I believe ours was named Joshua. He was quick and always made sure we were good.

This isn’t a review of their beer — that’s 5 stars. This is for their restaurant in Winston-Salem. The food was decent. People were having a good time. The service was OK. I was just expecting more. Like access to beers you couldn’t get in the store or another bar. And it seemed a bit drab. If you’re a fan of their beer and were in the area, I’d still say you should go in and check it out. But I wouldn’t drive up to WS from the Triangle JUST to visit the place.

Fresh draft beer is always a plus. If you want food, you can get it here, but you’re not really coming here for the food. The food isn’t bad, but the portion sizes are a little too big, so you might want to just split an appetizer and entrée with another person, rather than getting your own two entrees. We got the nachos for the table and they were fine, and we had a veggie quesadilla and a dirty south burger. Nothing fantastic, but nothing wrong either. Well, the guacamole was definitely from a package, but this isn’t a Mexican restaurant so I guess you can’t complain too much about that. The service was a little slow again, but not terrible, and they were able to accommodate a baby, so that’s a plus. It’s a good place to just hang out, have a few drinks, and get some casual grub.

One of our favorite places to go to in Winston. We typically sit in the bar area as it seems a bit more relaxed. Food is always good and their condiments are made in house. The shanewhich is always something to ask your server about as the chef makes a sandwich of the day that is creative and tasty. Foothills beers are always amazing. Seasonal beers are always perfect for whatever the weather is and their IPA of the month is always inventive.

Second time eating/drinking here and we have yet to be disappointed! This is my husbands favorite brewery(and he is what you would call an ‘enthusiast’… Haha) I don’t drink beer, but hubby describes every beer he has ever had here as ‘clean, consistent and well made’ But on to the food: we both loved our food! It was well cooked, maybe a little pricey, but very tasty! I had the roasted chicken stuffed with cornbread and served over mashed potatoes with a mushroom gravy. He had the ribs with fries. The only negative he had was that you couldn’t really taste that the ribs were cooked with beer. I have zero negative things to say about the chicken. It was amazing! We were served promptly, the server(Jordan) didn’t hover, but we never had to wait for him. Food and beer were all the correct temp… What else can I say! Took one star off for husbands remark about the ribs and the price. It would be nice if there was a lunch menu, almost $ 20 per person(food only) for lunch is a bit steep, but it is worth it!

Foothills has truly gone above and beyond to show how having a well trained staff and knowledge of not only their food, but also their beer! I’m not a beer expert and many times feel overwhelmed with the technical terminology to describe a beer. As soon as our server came to us, he asked what flavors and beers do I consider my favorite. Within less than 2 min, he not only said he KNEW the perfect beer for me, but was CORRECT! The Carolina Blonde has become my all-time favorite beer and I tell everyone it’s as if they took what I love about a few of my favorites and combined them into one! The food was amazing! I had the Pub Melt and it was full of flavor and messy in all the right ways! The Tasting Room is great to go and relax after a long day and enjoy a drink like you’re relaxing on a good friend’s patio! I was thrilled to see Foothills beer even in Hilton Head, SC!

Foothills is a great local brewpub where you can meet a group of friends for a local craft brew or for some good pub food. They constantly have events going on and are consistently coming out with new beers on tap. Foothills is also a good place to come catch a game. They’ve got multiple T.V.s and always have a game on their big projector screen. I’ve been going to Foothills for years and recently they have really stepped their game up in the food department. For some reason I never think of Foothills as a burger spot, but this is a huge mistake. The last few times I have been I have gotten a burger and never been disappointed. If you like to get your burger more on the rare side, they are one of the few places in town that can get this right. I prefer my burgers medium or medium rare, and they get it right every time. My go to burger is the«Dirty South Burger» which has pimento cheese, bacon, and fried pickles. Can’t go wrong. I also really enjoy the«Three-Amigos Burger» with banana peppers, pepper-jack cheese, and guacamole. Their fries are awesome as well! Hand-cut fries and always a nice amount of crunch. They are always generous helpings as well. ALWAYS get their homemade mustard to dip your fries in and put on your burger. Seriously, their mustard is incredible. If you aren’t in the mood for a burger, their Turkey Sandwich is also excellent. It comes with bacon, granny smith apples, and brie. Foothills specialty beers are awesome. I started off sampling their regular rotations(Pilot Mountain Pale Ale, People’s Porter and Torch Pilsner). I think these are average craft brews, but their true stand outs are the less available ones. They have started to do an IPA of the month, which never disappoints. I’m also a fan of the Hoppyum and the Hoppy Medium Brown Ale. I could honestly take or leave the Sexual Chocolate, which I know is blasphemy. One of the coolest things I recently discovered that the brewpub does is The Randle on Mondays. They basically let one of their bartenders/brewers create his own concoction for the night. One of the Mondays I was there, Randle took the Bourbon Barrel Stout and filtered it through a Romeo and Juliet Cigar, local coffee beans, and peppers. It was such an interesting tasting beer. Love to go back and see what he thinks of next. Foothills also has a lot going on. On Tuesdays and Thursdays they have trivia. On Wednesdays they have Live Bluegrass. On most Saturdays they have live music. Pretty much any night you go to Foothills, you are guaranteed some entertainment. Foothills is a great local brewpub with great burgers, solid pub offerings, creative craft beer, and a fun atmosphere. It is definitely a go to for taking your out of town guests and is also a great place for the locals. If the service was more consistent and prices were a bit lower, then this place would earn five stars.

Foothills Brewing is an AWESOME spot for great food, cold beer and nice atmosphere! My husband I had previously come here for their Beer School(another review I made) but today we came for lunch! This place got pretty packed at the lunch-hour on a Sunday! Always a great sign that the place is good in my book!!! Food: all our meals were great! My husband and I both got burgers, my mom got a Cuban sandwich and my dad got a Buffalo Chicken Wrap. The fresh cut fries were delish as well as the hot chips(fresh potato chips). Our table’s consensus was that we weren’t huge fans of the homemade ketchup and I personally didn’t try the homemade mustard,(looked like brown mustard?) I’m a French’s Yellow Mustard-only girl. Can’t wait to try more of their items! Brews: Our party had a number of the beers on tap including People’s Porter, Carolina Blonde and Sexual Chocolate. I enjoyed an unsweetened iced tea. Service: Our server was AWESOME! He was very knowledgeable and had great hearing… I say this because I would ask a question out loud to my family and he would be the one to respond as he was walking by. Ha. Food came out fairly quick for as crowded as it was. Atmosphere: Like in my last review, we love the brick building and the openness of the dining area. Since it was pretty packed by the end of our meal, it was getting a little loud as we finished up. We will DEFINITELY be back! Be sure to try their beer school on 1st Saturday of the month. We highly recommend it!
