Not sure why I don’t play Reynolds Park more often. Playing in the early fall the course was in reasonably good shape overall(the fairways were cut a bit long for my taste), and the greens were immaculate. IMMACULATE. True and challenging. Course offers a nice combination of uphill and downhill, long and short, left and right bending holes. There are some greenside bunkers but for the most part the green complexes are open in front(except for a couple of par 3s that you have to carry all the way to the green). Although the price gap between the riding discount of $ 25 and whatever walking costs can’t be that much, the course is relatively walkable. I’m looking forward to ditching the electronic buggy next time. BTW, please ignore the idiot reviewer«Kevin G.» and his BS comments about gunshot wounds and crack houses near the course. You are more likely to get hurt crossing the road while playing than you are from these other things.

It’s refreshing to play a course that emphasizes golf over gimmicks! The course plays very well and has an old-school feel. It’s not the longest course in the area, but it challenges good golfers. Reynolds Park also plays to the beginner; very open and forgiving layout. My sons and I have been playing together for several years, and this course was enjoyable for all three of us. Winter kill was an issue, as there were several areas where grass was sparse. One of the maintenance staff discussed the bare spots with us, and took time to explain how it happened. We’ve played several courses in the Winston area this year, and Reynolds Park seemed to be healing as good as anyone. We were also impressed that the man didn’t make excuses AND made a point to be very complimentary of other area courses. We will certainly be back.

Reynolds Park GC is kind of like Three-Buck Chuck: considering what you’re paying, it’s pretty good.(Note: I think it’s a value if you walk for $ 19 — if you take a cart for about $ 35, I think it loses a lot of its value.) The greens are in very good shape. No dead spots, well-manicured, not too shaggy. Some challenging undulations and pin placements. Some of the greens are pretty big, so if you put it in the wrong section, you have a very challenging 2-putt headed your way. The rough and fairways are another story. Very thin. In fairness, maybe that’s because it is so early in the season, but there are a lot of bare spots as opposed to just dormant grass. The course is pretty short yardage-wise, but there are several holes with significant elevation changes, so it plays a bit longer than it measures. Still, if you drive the ball about 250 – 260, you’ll probably want to play from the tips.

If you survive the neighborhood on your way to RP and aren’t bleeding from multiple gunshot wounds you will find a pretty decent course. Set directly in the crackhouse corner of Winston it is one of two? muni courses. Green fees are pretty cheap and the layout is nice. Easy holes and a few tough ones. If you have a decent game you’ll want to play from the tips. This course does a lot for the community and I like that. Near Winston Salem State so convenient for college kids.
