It’s really quite surprising to find this gem of a museum tucked into the wooded area at the back of a residential neighborhood. SECCA beings in excellent modern and contemporary artists that work in everything from 2d to 3d, traditional to nontraditional mediums. They hold exciting opening receptions as well as films. There is something for all ages. Children can go to watch cartoons on the big screen. They have great educational programs and tours for teens as well as outreach programs with the school system. Professional development is offered up for local teachers. Parking is no problem with a large accessible lot and the best part is the free admission which is a steal.

One of the many hidden treasures of Winston-Salem, NC. SECCA is a contemporary art museum, performance venue and a historical site. Once a gem of the Southeastern United States visual art scene, it’s star is on the rise again.

Enter through the Historic House! SECCA This is a great looking, Modern, Huge faculty with a great layout and grounds to walk, some outdoor Art too. Inside it is nice and yesterday when we visited there was just a large Gallery exhibition going on because the next exhibition in a huge room was begin set up. We could see the people working putting together what looked like a really cool exhibition that will be opening soon. There were a group of High School students here(outside) taking way more photos than I did and they took a lot of photos of the Ghosts at the Entrance to the museum(the historic House). Also a historic House to tour if you like!

This is a world-class art gallery in the heart of Winston-Salem. it was made famous, or infamous, by Senator Jesse Helms during Cerrano’s photo exhibition of Piss-Christ in the 1980’s. They have frequent installations in all mediums, including cinema. One of the best things in the city.
