I was so impressed with the freshness and quality of the food in this quaint little café. And I have to give a shout out to their manager Ulyana, so sweet and just lovely, she was also our server very kind and friendly! We stopped in after walking the charming area to have some lunch. There is an outdoor seating area and a counter to buy some of their bakery treats as well as an interior place to eat too. I had a glass of Prosecco, hey I’m on vaca! and yes they have wine and beer as well as coffee and teas, and decided on the roast beef sandwich with a horse radish sauce, yum yum all on fresh baked bread, the roast beef was very good, not stringy or fatty like it can sometimes be. We all enjoyed it very very much. The food was very nicely presented too which also impressed me. Just lovely!

While not a traditional tea room in the English sense, this restaurant/café is AMAZING. My mother and I stopped in after a long walk around Old Salem. Located in an adorable historic house with a gorgeous outdoor dining area, the menu is fresh and delicious. It was warm, and I finished an entire carafe of their amazing iced green tea which comes with a shot of apply syrup with a mint leaf. You get to sweeten your own tea with this infusion to your liking. We shared a salad that was crisp, fresh and delightful. These are not dinky, boring bowls of lettuce, either. They are generous and thoughtfully put together. The atmosphere is amazing, and the waitresses are friendly(as are the townsfolk). I would drive all the back to Winston-Salem just for tea!

Went to lunch here today with a group of six ladies. We were all very impressed! The setting is in the space below T. Bagge Merchants in Old Salem. They have a lovely outdoor seating area that will be shaded in the summer and perfect for enjoying the outdoors. The indoor dining area is quaint and small just as you would expect. One would expect the noise level to be high, but even sitting in the small, enclosed space close to other diners, we had no trouble with table conversation, nor were we bothered by other diners. They have a lovely menu, including soups, salads, sandwiches and flatbreads. We sampled the Plymouth Rock(chicken salad sandwich) as well as the Gobbler(Turkey, Bacon, Swiss, Aioli on Artisan Bread). The favorite was the Brie and Granny Smith Apple with Fig Jam on a Whole Grain Croissant. I plan to go back and order the Spicy BLT with Chipotle Mayo. Sides range from chips(good ones) to tomato cucumber salad(also good), to fruit(average, but its winter). Italian Wedding Soup was excellent. They were out of the Roasted Red Pepper Gouda soup, which I definitely want to go back to try. Our lunch orders came out very quickly. We were given a carafe of iced tea to share at the table. An order of Raspberry Vanilla hot tea was served in a beautiful antique teapot into a pretty antique tea cup and saucer with proper lemon, milk and rough cubes of sugar. They offer desserts(as they are affilated with the Flour Box Bakery), but we didn’t sample any today. Service was quick, friendly and efficient. I’ll definitely go back and this is just the perfect place to have lunch with a friend. Looking forward to warmer weather and enjoying their outdoor dining area.

I don’t know what magic was sprinkled on my sandwich but it was delicious! I had the Parisienne: Granny Smith apple, melted brie, and fig. It’s a bit noisy during lunchtime due to school children touring, but the service was good given the heavy volume of patrons. Outside seating is available. A nice addition to Old Salem!

The service is warm and friendly and the food is delicious especially the baked goods which are all made in house and believe me they are great especially considering they’re made in their bakery down the street. I had warm Brie and apple sandwich that was very tasty and I plan on returning for some more scrumptious goodies! Thank you flour box

I have been there a few times now, alone and with friends. I’ve had the roast beef sandwich on a homemade croissant and it was excellent. I don’t know where they get the roast beef, but it is smooth, rare, not salty and super yummy. My friends rave about the apple brie sandwich too. I like to go for tea time. They have a variety of excellent teas that you won’t find at a standard coffee shop. They also have unique coffee, which I haven’t tried yet because I haven’t tried all the varieties of tea yet. I’m sure I’ll be back to try the coffee. The Cream Tea selection includes a homemade scone of the day, clotted cream and jam. Warning, you will get a whole pot of tea! The staff is super nice, but sometimes a little slow. All in all it is a cute place to eat in Old Salem, especially if you like tea room service.

I have the privilege of working next door to this great place. Their pastries and baked goods are phenomenal. My favorites are the sticky bun, cheese danish, and the strawberry/cream cheese croissant. Their pecan pie is the best I’ve ever had. The same can be said about their BLT sandwich. They have a great staff and great service. They offer outdoor dining in one of the most best locations in town(Old Salem) and inside it’s very quaint and cozy. I highly recommend you check them out.

Excellent is an understatement! ONLYCOMEHEREIFYOUTRULYWANTTOENJOYGREATSERVICEAND A GREATMEAL! If I were writing a guide book to Old Salem(or Winston-Salem, NC for that matter), the lead sentence would read: «No visit to Old Salem(or Winston-Salem, NC) is complete without a stop by The Flour Box Tea Room and Café… and if you’re a local… and you haven’t been there, you’re doubly missing out!» The Flour Box Tea Room and Café is that perfect intersection of warmth, class, and nostalgia. It feels like home, a spot to meet friends for happy hour and a place for a cozy, romantic dinner all at once. Whether stopping for lunch or wine and cheese in the early evening, from the moment you walk in the door, there is a genuine sense from the entire staff you are welcome. Lunch: Have a business lunch? If you’re looking to impress a client with something unique, bringing them here will do it. For lunch, I highly recommend the Parisian(melted brie and granny smith apples… dessert on a sandwich) or the Spicy BLT(bacon cooked just right and chipotle mayo). Tea: Having lived in England, tea time, particularly high tea, is something I advocate all Americans incorporating into daily life… or, at a minimum, should be experienced at least once… and this is a place to do it. The scones are divine and the pastries which are made at the The Flour Box Bakery just around the corner are rooted in old world love. The only thing missing is the British accents! Fortunately, there are plenty of British tourists usually enjoying tea with you to feel fully«proper.» In short, this is my new favorite restaurant in Winston-Salem, NC. From the food to the people it is a welcome addition to the Old Salem community!
