First Time I had been there. Very nice place. Be sure to order your wings extra crispy. Definitely will go back.

Been here twice now for take out. Each time I get the hot buffalo wings with ranch and cheese toast. The ranch is incredible! The hot wings are the perfect level of spice for me. I also like that there is a ton if sauce and jalepeños. The wings are always crispy, which is how I like them. Fiancée got the fried chicken salad and really liked it. it came in a tortilla bowl which I don’t think was in the menu description. Always takes about 10 mins for the food to be ready for pick up.

One of my favorite wing place in town. Ordered twenty wings in four different sauces. All sauces were good, and came with plenty as well. Wings were well cooked. Pretty tender. We tried the extra hot in the house even the waitress warned us twice, it turned out really good but really hot too, don’t try it if you don’t have good heat tolerance.

By far the worst service in Winston! I showed up to pick up my order and the person at the counter didn’t even acknowledge me. The other person that was on the phone attended me once she was off the phone. They gave us the wrong order of wings and the onion rings were downright disappointing. They look great but have NOSEASONINGATALL. When I called to let them know about the wrong wings and the missing side of ranch(they do charge extra for it too) and they said they would replace it. Then I get a call back from an employee telling me that I need to bring back the wrong wings(after I told them I couldn’t go back today to get the new order)!! I have never a manager ask an employee to call a customer and tell them to bring back the wings. No wonder the wings I had were soggy, they are probably reselling the bad food. I’ll never go back again.

One of my favorite wings places. Waldo’s Wings, granted, does lot have the best service nor the friendliest staff I have ever seen, but I LOVE their wings. They are not the typical Buffalo Wild Wings«wings» and that alone puts them high up on my list. The food is always consistent quality though it seems like the portions have gone down. I’ve only gotten the wings so I can’t speak to any other part of their menu.

It’s Thursday night and we are at waldo’s. We like to eat there. The waitresses are great. I like boneless wings. I wish they would update their menu to get more sauces for the wings and maybe some french fries to draw in more people.

We came to waldos which is not our normal night. We had to wait about forty five minutes for our food. The sandwiches came to the table hot but were kind of plain the condiments. The wait staff is always good but the kitchen needs some work.

Never been a fan. Not a fan of the atmosphere, servers, or food. Both times I have eaten the food I have gotten upset stomach. If you want wings you are better off pretty much anywhere else.

Wow so shocked about my experience this evening at Waldos we have been going here for years and the waitress we had tonight was the worst we have ever encountered. The service was horrible they were putting up chairs and turning off lights at 9:30 and they did not close until 10pm. The wings are not bad but the service here is horrible and they could use some customer service training. They had already mopped all the floors in the restaurant and it was very slick when we left and i overheard our waitress saying we are down to 3 tables finally they were rushed to get out 30 mins early. We will not be back and they have lost a long time customer and they do not seem to care how they treat customers as this is not the first time I have encountered this bad service at WALDOS wings but tonight was the kicker.

We started with the Hot Chips and Onion Rings. The hot chips were a combination of crispy and some softer slices and came with a large side of Ranch dressing. We selected the spicy Ranch, their homemade Ranch mixed with wing sauce, to go with the battered, crunchy, wide-cut onion rings. Waldo’s has wings(regular and boneless), sandwiches, burgers, hotdogs, and salads. We opted for the 20 piece wing sampler tray with four different flavors, Hot, Extra Hot, Jamaican Jerk, and Mandarin Orange Sesame Ginger. You can get the specialty flavors in any level of heat. The crispy, tender wings arrived coated in sauce with a lake of Blue Cheese dressing and slices of Cheese Bread. The Mandarin Orange Sesame Ginger was sweet with a prominent Asian flair from the sesame and ginger elements of the sauce. There was plenty of extra sauce on the platter in each of the wing sections which was great for dipping. However it was not warmed, so the wings cooled down fast. Both waitresses stopped by throughout the evening to refill our water and see if we needed anything else. When the Hot wings arrived at our table, the spicy aroma made our mouths water. You could see the Hot had loads of black pepper flakes and slices of jalapenos. They made our lips warm and mouths tingle with a slight lingering heat. The Extra Hot came in a spicy paste from the depths of hell that engulfed our mouths in flames. Faces turned red, noses started running; you don’t want to forget and accidentally rub your eyes while you are eating these nuclear nibbles. This was where the cooling vat of chunky blue cheese dressing came into play. You can get Ranch but we both prefer blue cheese dressing to accompany our wings. The buttered Texas toast covered in cheese helped tone down the heat when we ate it on its own, but we also used it to soak up even more sauce, rather self-defeating but so tasty. Best teriyaki wings in the triad. Don’t usually have pick up order ready at time they suggest so you end up waiting.

I’ve been a loyal customer of Waldo’s for the past 5 years and I’ve always enjoyed their food… more specifically their wings. While its true that this isn’t a 5-Star restaurant, it’s not supposed to be. As my dad always says: «it is what it is». In this case, it’s a wing joint. With that being said, there is still a level of common respect and courtesy that is expected of an eating establishment regardless of whether it’s a Chop House or a Waffle House. I must sadly say that my visit to Waldos today will be my last. Not only did the 3 members of wait staff provide poor service to my son and I at 4:15 this afternoon in an almost empty restaurant, they didn’t offer a discount or an apology once I nicely brought it to their attention. As a business owner myself, I understand that some folks are more difficult to deal with than others. I’m not one of «those people». I asked 3 times and patiently waited for 15 minutes for sweetener to be brought to my table. I then asked 2 times for a tea refill which I never received. I was eating HOT wings. Shouldn’t keeping the glasses full be standard protocol? As I left in disgust the other waitress who I had also asked for a tea refill asked if I wanted a tea to go. Sorry but too little, too late. I calmly explained to her that I had been waiting for a refill for over 15 minutes and she just stood there looking at me. I heard her whisper to my waitress that I was mad about poor service and my waitress shrugged her shoulders and kept walking. No apology, no nothing. So for the first time in my 40 year old life, I stiffed my server. She didn’t deserve a tip and didn’t get one. Hopefully, management will read this and correct this problem before it gets worse. The one star is for the wings. They are as tasty as ever. If you must go, I strongly encourage you to do take out only.

I’m somewhat confused by other listed reviews that criticize a wings place for the quality of their BLT, chili, hot dogs, etc. Guys — it’s a WINGS place. If you are looking for wings then Waldo’s is an excellent choice. They don’t offer dozens of gimmicky flavors like East Coast Wings and they don’t have the national advertising power of Buffalo Wild Wings but when it comes to getting a big basket of fresh-made wings accompanied by fast, friendly service they definitely deliver. We’ve been going there for years and have never been let down. In fact, we recently went to Buffalo Wild Wings for a friend’s birthday party and were disgusted by the size and relative sliminess of their wings. I guess we’ve been spoiled :) Bottom line: Waldo’s Wings is a REAL local business where REAL people go to eat. If you’d prefer to peruse 30 different flavors of corn syrup masquerading as sauce or are looking for foie de gras to grace your plate then this place isn’t for you.

It’s your basic wings establishment, and it’s local, which may be a reason for choosing it over a place like Buffalo Wild Wings. I’m admittedly not the biggest wings fan, but they lack the menu options of a more mainstream establishment. The hot dogs just don’t do it for me and neither does the older, sports-bar atmosphere.

When I was transferred to Oldtown my coworkers quickly introduced me to Waldos. In our little strip mall they offered dogs, burgers, and wings. We always got the dog basket for five bucks. A loaded dog, tons of cut fries and pickles. Always packed at lunchtime the wait was short and the service was quick. Fifteen years later — Waldo’s has moved closer to Wake Forest U. Same great food. This time I tried the wings. A little pricey compared to other wing joints in the area but worth the money. Never a fan of celery they waste it on me. Not a great selection like East Coast Wings but they are pretty tasty. Still in the neighborhood. You left one gang area for another. Wake Forest is one of the greatest universities in the US but the location is surrounded by ghetto. Move into the burbs Waldo’s and you’ll reap the benefits. Stop relying on student cash.

I give this 2 stars. My 3 college guy roommates would give it 5 stars. Wings, hot dogs, chili, sandwiches, fried apps. They hype up their wing sauce, but like most North Carolina sauces, its just a bunch of vinegar. Not my favorite. Last time I was there I had the BLT and it was OK, but it was about the same BLT I can make myself. The chili also tastes kinda funny. They do have cheap beer and flat screen TVs… might be better to go to watch a game and munch rather than go for dinner.
