Decent Mexican food. I’m from California so Im kind of a Mexican food snob, hahaha! I found the carnitas and tortillas(they only had flour… yuck) kind of dry. The beans and rice were good. I was excited that they had horchata… soooo good after a very hot day!

Okay. Let’s start with the fact that this is an OLD authentic Mexican place. It never seems to be packed. The food is always done perfectly and quickly. DONOT expect a high end of super Americanized joint. Do however expect: 1. Homemade tortillas and the best crunchy taco shell of your existence 2. Some of the most flavorful salsa in a very neat condiment bottle(«for here») 3. Softest and best pickled veggies in a non-fancy baggie(ask for them!!!) 4. The best beef or chicken inside the best homemade tortilla(see 1.) 5. Easy ordering(lots of pictures for combos plates) 6. No hassle presentation(paper plates in house and simple wrapping for to go) This place is the reason I started my Unilocal account and is still my default account pic(me sniffing the wonderful, amazing, deliriously scrumptious smell that emanates from a to-go bag from here as you are passing through at 9pm). We come to Oregon as often as we can(which isn’t much) but always make sure to stop here at least once. To anyone passing through Winston-stop for at least a simple, cheap, flavorful taco. You will not be disappointed.

I went into this establishment early Saturday evening(just a little past 8) after not having eaten anything all day. All I really wanted was some simple nachos… but when I walked in there weren’t any other customers in the restaurant, and one of the workers was sweeping the floor. I barely got through the door and asked if they were still open. The guy sweeping looked up at the clock and said yes, so I walked up to the counter to look at the menu, as this was my first time going there. That’s when I saw the cook behind the counter staring daggers at me. I immediately thought about that movie«Waiting»(which everyone who dines out should watch) and decided that it probably wouldn’t be the best idea to ask him to make anything for me to eat. I politely said, «You guys look like you want to go home… I won’t bother you,»(after all it was a Saturday night, even if it was only 8.) So I slowly turned around hoping they would say«No, it’s fine, please order,» but they didn’t say a word to me as I walked out the door and said good night. I could still feel the cooks eyes staring at me the whole time I was walking away. I had planned on giving them a very generous tip for serving me «after hours»(even though it was posted that they stay open until 9) but instead they lost a new customer… a new customer who loves burritos and just moved in about a block away.
