Great service! Awesome food! The food came out quickly for 3 of us. 2 of us had burgers and the burgers were perfect! One of us had a hot dog and it hit the spot. Their crinkly fries were perfect! This place has a home style feel to it. I guess that’s one reason why they’ve been around for so long. The next time I find myself in Winter Haven, I will be back to this restaurant.

Two notes I one week. You must try their country fried steak with mashed potatoes and white gray. Their chicken wings are no joke either. Everything is good. Best prices around.

Well it’s been there forever so if it sucked it would be closed by now. It’s between this place and Dino’s for the title of best food for the money, with Andy’s winning due to their table service and ice cream. It’s all good and even better when you get the bill. Service is very efficient and it’s definitely a place you need to go if you’ve not been. I’ve had several things on the menu and would go back for any of them. A small hot fudge sundae for $ 2 that’s not really that small. How can you beat that? Highly recommended. I’m a Realtor so if you’re thinking of buying or selling, get in touch.

I’m giving this five stars as much as an endorsement of Andy’s as a staple of Winter Haven culture as for its abilities as a restaurant. It’s a greasy spoon with a drive in, known for their ice cream concoctions. I’ve been here several times and don’t know that I’ve ever had anything«bad». The burgers are good, the corn nuggets are good(and I’m a corn nugget connoisseur — I’ve been known to drive to Auburn, Alabama JUST to get corn nuggets at Niffers. I don’t mean I’ll drive there from a nearby place — Auburn is a good ten hour drive from here and I’ve made that round trip just for that purpose. So when I say the corn nuggets are good, sit up straight and listen when I talk.) Short version, everything’s good. Nothing’s GREAT but I’ve not been disappointed once. To eat here is to experience Winter Haven. Photos of the stars of yesteryear who no doubt performed at Cypress Gardens garnish the walls, the waitress know the regulars well, and there’s still a decided affinity here for the Cleveland Indians, a team that last had their spring training nearby in 2008. This place has roots and remembers you. Try to avoid the early bird rush in the mid afternoon, but whenever you go, it’s worth waiting for a table. Tourists visiting LEGOLAND: this place will make memories for you. Kids tend to enjoy the simple but flavorful foods and may turn this into your new favorite spot while you’re on vacation.

I have ordered from here a few times since moving to Winter Haven. Amazing milkshakes! Thick with chunks of fruit.(I have only tried the cherry milkshake.) Food is decent. My favorite is the pulled pork sandwich. The barbecue sauce is nice and spicy. I would pass on the hot turkey sandwich with gravy. The gravy is yummy but, the turkey appears to be processed sandwich meat that has been heated up. My boyfriend had that hamburger every time and said it was an average hamburger.

Oh Andys, how I’ve missed you. I love how it still has the same feel and charm. Cash only, but it’s pretty inexpensive, 20 $ is almost enough to feed 2 people. Ordered the burger basket. The burger was well cooked, juicy, and seasoned nicely. Fries were golden brown, yet soft and pillowy on the inside. Tried a hot fudge malt for the first time and it was awesome, I’m hooked. Want to try breakfast sometime. Service was great, everyone was very attentive and seemed genuinely happy. Can’t wait to go back. Sad they’re closed on Sundays, but appreciate it as they are a family business. The ice cream window is still open though for those shake cravings.

We happened upon this place a few years ago when we lived nearby. We have since moved an hour away and still make it a point to come here two or three times a year. The comfortable«at home» atmosphere is so welcoming and the food is just like mom made it. Simple, delicious. Love it! PS– CASHONLY!

I hate to leave a bad review but this was the worst milk shake I’ve ever had. Cherry vanilla. With«real» cherries. It tasted like sugary milk water with the stuff you collect from the sink trap. I felt like I was drinking an accident that you couldn’t look away from. I thought this was just my milkshake but my friend had a coffee milkshake and the quality was the same… just basically milk with coffee flavor. With every slurp of the straw I got tiny foul chunks of «real» cherries that lingered at the bottom of this strange beverage. When I let my friend taste this shake he just burst out laughing at how terrible it was. This was not a milk shake it was more like a sweet milk water with canned cherries, but not the good canned cherries, rather the canned cherries that are on the clearance rack of the dollar store.

This was a great little find on our day trip to Winter Haven. They had a ton of flavors and the ice cream was delicious. The staff was not knowledgeable about the contents of the ice cream and having a gluten allergy made ordering challenging, but I stuck to Watermelon Sorbet. Wish they had a bit more outside seating for their customers.

Andy’s is my favorite restaurant in Winter Haven! The food is delicious! Also the prices can’t be beat. I would definitely recommend this place!

Great ice cream, yummy onion rings. People brag about the burgers. I found them to be just average. Only gets 3 stars because they are cash only. There is an ATM but who wants to pay the fees for that.

Food is cheap and great. The ice cream is cheap and delicious. The only problem here is the cash only issue. You have to use their ATM and it comes with a fee. So if you come here, bring cash! Other than that, eat here! Loved it.

First-A Revision Andy’s only takes cash. No credit cards. Listen to me… CASHONLY! Avoid the«please-accept-my-child-as-collateral» hustle to an ATM. Bring old-fashioned greenbacks. Second-A Review-Ice Cream Ice cream is the best reason to visit Andy’s. It’s homemade perfection in at least 15 different flavors that can be made into every frozen concoction known to man. Ice cream orders are available inside in the diner, at the inside counter or at the walk-up window. Be prepared to wait at any of these portals to ice cream bliss… perfection takes its sweet time here. Third-A Review-The Non-Ice Cream Food The menu in the traditional, laminated paper sense coupled with the hand crafted«menus» hanging on various walls offer everything from cheeseburger(¼ to ½ pound) and fries to liver and onions(why even bother with that nonsense) to assorted fish food. Our group had cheeseburgers and fries. The fries rank up there in fry supremacy. Big, crinkle cut fries that are perfectly crispy on the outside and potayoey soft in the middle. Ketchup squeeze bottles give you control over just how much ketchup you need to make these perfect. Ketchup is such a personal thing. The consensus among burger eaters(you laughed, didn’t you? If not, read that again-it’s funny.) is that these are yummy cheeseburgers. Char-broiled with real hamburger. Be sure to read the menu carefully before you order yours«all the way.» Or you can at it safe and just order it «plain Jane.» Overall, a great companion to the whole burger, fries and a shake meal. One in our group ordered a chili dog. He said it would have been better had they left off the American cheese. I hate chili dogs so I will take his word for it. Another interesting purchase point at Andy’s are the t-shirts. My brother is named«Andy» which naturally means he is required to own a t-shirt from a place that shares his name.(I don’t know – is this just our family or do others do this too?) So, during our meal, we discuss what color. Choices were traffic-cone orange, toxic-waste green, Wal-mart grey, Christmas-red and black. We decide on red. Waitress comes back and says there are no reds in a medium. Back-up choice, black, also a no go. Third choice, grey, also a bust. Then a woman, who measured in at no more than 54 inches, brings a green medium. As we try to ask a blue one we saw in an employee, she proceeds to tell us with great volume and vigor, that the green is the best t-shirt on the planet and there’s nothing else we could possibly want more than a green t-shirt. Her tone suggested that what she really meant was«you are going to take this f — -green t-shirt and you are going to love it or so help me God I will put you in the ground.» So, we happily bought the bright green t-shirt. Andy loved it. Ice cream is superb. Burgers, fries and shakes are perfect in their Americana but skip the macaroni & cheese at all costs. Trust me… skip it. Do not be choosy about the t-shirt.

I’ve been in Winter Haven for 5 years without eating at Andy’s Igloo and could have gone another 5. Food and service were horrible. Despite being made fresh the fries and green beans were cold but the milkshake wasn’t. I had what has to be the worst Cuban sandwich ever. It was made with lunch meat, ham and what had to be bologna. Probably my fault for ordering a Cuban at a hamburger joint; but if you’re going to have it on the menu at least put forth a little effort. Their idea of a dinner roll was half of a toasted hotdog bun. In all fairness their burgers might be good, but I’ll never know since I won’t be returning. Oh I just found out they only accept cash. No wifi either.

I usually only come for ice cream or a shake. I ordered the 2 egg breakfast with biscuits and sausage patties. The food was OK. What bothered me about this visit was that I called in my order and when I came to pick up my food I waited for 10 minutes even though there wasn’t anyone else at the window and they were not slammed. Several workers saw me and did not acknowledge me. Maybe my standards are too high. I give the ice cream and shakes 3 stars. My service today gets 0 stars. The food gets 2 stars.

Old time drive in, with a walk up window and rough benches overlooking the parking spaces & two overflowing dumpsters. Perfect school kid hang out. During our weekend visit, it didn’t look like we were displacing any kids. But I’ll bet you anything you might need that the kids are here after school. On a tip from a local high-schooler, we ordered the tangerine colored sherbet. It was served in a cup. Literally, a cup. As in plastic water cup. The clerk was a bit evasive when asked if actual, real local citrus is used in the sherbets and ice creams. The answer was good, though. «That’s a secret part of the recipes.» There are lots of ice cream flavors and concoctions. The perennial kid fave is offered: the«Superman», made of red, white & blue colored ice creams. The«Garbage Dump» description told of a splendid array of broken up candies, mixed into the base vanilla ice cream. Also, I loved the vintage signage, and the banner announcing the Cleveland Indians’ presence in nearby baseball practice fields.

Their outdoor ice cream stand is a good place to get a quick shake or frozen treat. Cheap prices and a retro feel with a steady trickle of customers, even later on a weekday night. I loved the sign and the indoors looked cozy. Contrary to popular opinion, my shake left something to be desired. It tasted like watery yet chunky milk. The banana split was better. I guess you go for the ambiance and homey feel… I’ll be back but try something different next time.

This is a really great find. They have real food for low prices and i’m pretty sure they make their own ice cream. If they don’t, they manage to find some really awesome ice cream flavors. I usually get the grilled chicken salad. It comes with a huge chicken breast char grilled on top of a basic salad. It’s inexpensive and good. The hubby usually gets a char grilled burger or the fried chicken — both items he raves about. The last time we were there they had a vanilla based ice cream with various candy bar bits, and butterscotch swirls, and brownie bits and mini peanut butter cups. It was awesome. And their milkshakes… they are fantastic. If I could doc them half a star, i would — for it being CASHONLY. Drives me nuts.
