I was hesitant to try a new eye doctor when I moved to the area and had trouble finding reviews for anyone nearby. I managed to locate a single review online that seemed promising and made an appointment with the doctor who was mentioned: John Davidson. When I came in for my appointment(the first one available, about 3 weeks after I called), I was shocked by the size of the place. It felt more like checking into a hospital, which I guess makes sense since it’s also a surgery center. I had a seat in the waiting area after checking in and only had to wait about 5 minutes before I was taken to the back and a nurse talked to me and started the process with me, getting my eyes dilated and such. About 10 minutes later, Dr. Davidson came in. He was extremely warm and personable throughout our appointment. He didn’t rush at all. In fact, he found something that no doctor had found before, whether through oversight or because it was a new development. He sent me for another couple of tests where they scanned my eyes, and found that I had thinning of the optic nerve. Although this was a somewhat frightening diagnosis, he explained what it meant thoroughly to me and pointed out on the scans where it was evident. He instructed me on what vitamins to get and advised me to make an appointment for 6 months later rather than 12 to make sure it didn’t get worse. When I went to get my contacts, it turned out they didn’t have the brand I needed in stock. Since I don’t live in Winter Haven, they offered to have someone run them to the branch in Lake Wales when they came in, as I was soon to be leaving the country. Though there was a miscommunication about this a couple days later when they arrived, I called and they sent someone immediately to the other branch so I could get my contacts before leaving for vacation. All in all a very positive experience, and I am so pleased to have found another competent and friendly doctor in Central Florida.
