Wasn’t overly impressed with Harry’s. The place is old so definitely has the right name! Lol
Dirt parking lot sets the tone for what is inside. It’s an old joint with rickety tables and second chance chairs. Do NOT wear anything remotely nice here as you will feel totally out of place and there’s a chance your clothes will get dirty but osmosis.
The saving grace is the good is pretty good and prices are cheap. You get what you pay for so don’t expect real silverware and drinks in a real glass. The service was average and the bartender was friendly. Our server was not very nice as she seemed pre-occupied with something.
So in hindsight they get 2 stars for the service and décor but 4 stars for food/prices…4 stars overall.
We would come back again if we felt like a change of pace.

Came while visiting Legoland and it was great! Super fresh seafood and great key lime pie that was thankfully white instead of green (always a good sign!). It’s not fancy but the food was done well!

I met a friend here as it was between Orlando and Lake Placid. I would call this one of those hidden treasures, and give a tip of the hat to Unilocal for the introduction! I would advise you to be prepared for a wait — we were there quite a while before their opening and were still a little ways back in the pack — that could be because the snowbirds were still in town, but I tend to think it more likely that it was locals who simply couldn’t wait. I loved the ambience and the smells of this quality seafood restaurant. I had the Baked French Onion soup and Crab And Shrimp Louie Salad — which were both fantastic — and my friend had the Harry In The Bag, which she also enjoyed. I am in a wheelchair, which was no problem for the very friendly and accommodating staff. I definitely recommend Harry’s Old Place and will be back there again soon.

As a winter Haven residents for almost 2 years I’m glad we finally tried this restaurant! We had family in from NY and they told me «good pick» more than once. What a great vacation feel in this local hot spot! Everything was delicious and well portioned. My fried combo platter could have fed 3! My sister in law who loves oysters raved about the baked oyster appetizer! The dinner bread and garlic bread were delicious! My husband garlic steak was perfectly cooked and tons of flavor! My in-laws loved the fresh wahoo and broiled combo. The brownie sundae was amazing. We had engaged in some small talk with the owners who were very friendly and working hard all night! Last, but not least our server Casey was amazing! She answered all our annoying questions with knowledge and a smile! We will definitely be back especially for the lobster and prime rib specials!

This meal is one that I wish didn’t end. It was so awsome! Everyone on the staff is super kind and attentive and the grouper with scallops, shrimp, and crab beyond delicious. The dinner roles are basic. The view is extraordinary of the cute lake and we even were entertained by water skiers. The key lime pie is not traditional. It is more like ice cream. So so so so Yummy!!! Jennifer my waitress really cares about providing a top quality customer friendly experience. So very happy I was here.

I have eaten here many times and always enjoyed their food now, I get to rave about it on Unilocal I finally brought my husband here to try their food. He loves seafood and ordered the seafood combo he liked it! Yay! I got to special order mine it was grilled chicken with fettuccine in garlic oil which was flavored with capers and peppers accompanied by garlic bread (YUM). Tea was good served in a large mason jar with lemon As I have mentioned before «I always enjoy their food».

Excellent food and service, looks like a hole in the wall but so awesome! We had the local seafood Grouper Special and would definitely come back. The French onion soup and fish dip were hits. Salad and bread were hits. No one left a bite on their plates except for the youngest in our group who filled up on bread. A tasty local favorite!

This is a small family owned seafood restaurant that seats about 60 people. The last time we arrived 20 minutes after they opened and had to wait about 45 minutes. Most places I wouldn’t wait, but Harry’s is worth it. We had everything from fish and chips, Grouper topped with scallops, shrimp, crab, Shrimp dinner and Mahi Mahi. All were perfectly cooked and had great flavor. Next time I would pass on the house salad and get the coleslaw. The hush puppies were good too! Thank you Harry’s!

Found this place through Unilocal!I try to avoid chains while traveling and I was in the mood for old school Florida seafood and this place really hit the mark. I walked in without a reservation and was quoted a 75 to 90 minute wait. Wow, this place is popular! Most of the clientele seemed local which is always good but boy I was hungry and I didn’t know if I could wait that long for a table. Luckily, my party of one was able to snag a seat at the bar pretty quickly and this worked out great. They serve only beer and wine and I enjoyed some local IPA. Sitting at the bar is a great way to find out what’s good at a restaurant. The bartender made some recommendations and I was in heaven! I started with some fried oysters (my weakness) and then had blackened grouper with crab, scallops and shrimp. My food was very good and my experience was on point.

I was disappointed. The pricing was good. The food was ok. As per advertisement we were expecting a place on the water. The only way you could see water is if you looked past the cars in the parking lot. No outside seating. We met friends from the east coast and got there around 12:45. We were encouraged to order quickly because they stopped serving at 1:30. We will definitely look for a different place next time.

Best Seafood restaurant in Winter Haven… hands down!
Harry has a well trained staff and some pretty talented chefs.
Also caters through Tallulahs.
We always pass by Red Lobster to go to Harry’s.
There will be a slight wait but well worth it.
Parking sucks though. Sorry Harry… gotta speak the truth.

Yup.
This is one of the moments that Unilocal has proved really useful. I like to avoid chains and look for family owned smaller places, and this place was WONDERFUL. The food is obviously made with love. The service is great, so I assume staff is is treated well. Everyone who was dining and working seemed to be in wonderful spirits. We had to wait an hour since the place is so popular, but it was well worth it. We just grabbed drinks for the entire family and sat outside and enjoyed the evening weather. We had gater bites, and crab balls for app and both were great. We were on vacation, so didn’t try anything healthy, so sorry healthy peeps. For dinner though, I got the fish and pasta with red sauce. All the fish was cooked PERFECTLY. So, so good. .We got the peanut butter pie to go since we were so stuffed, and it was creamy and delicious.
If you live near this place and haven’t gone yet shame on you! Shame! No, seriously. Go to there if you live within an hour or two drive. So delicious.

AMAZING food… The best service ever. The prices are so awesome! This place is our new favorite place. Lots of fresh seafood, lobster, crab cooked a variety of different ways. Prime Rib special on Wednesday for $ 15.99. It was one of the best prime ribs I have ever had. We will be back.

Truly authentic Florida style sea-food. No reservations are accepted at this place, its first-come first serve. Its pretty common to have a 30 minute wait for a table, but it is worth it.
The best feature about Harry’s is that they have a giant chalk board with the fishes of the day. When they sell out, they truly sell out and wipe the board clean. Pretty refreshing compared to most chain seafood restaurants!
Prices are very reasonable, especially considering the quality and quantity of food.

It’s a very rare occasion for food to leave me speechless, but it happened tonight. Harrys has been around for what feels like forever. Love the lakeside dining and family owned atmosphere. After living in Tampa and being spoiled, wasn’t sure what to expect. Honestly, this was better than places we’ve eaten at on the bay and gulf.
Mussels were awesome, not gritty, not salty and only 4 out of 30 were closed. Wish they left those out, but oh well. Salad was also very good, liked that they used romaine instead of icebreg. I got the lobster (last one, score!!)and crab hollandise topping on the side. I also got the new potatoes. The lobster was sweet and cooked very well, and the crab hollandise was on point. The new potatoes didn’t have much flavor, but with my seafood excitement, I didnt care. Definitely one of the best meals I’ve had in a while. Service was great and I cant wait to eat my key lime pie. Will definitely be back, is tomorrow too soon?!?
