I would expect a place with a 4.5 star rating to be able to handle 10 people in the restaurant in a more timely fashion. We have waited 45 minutes and still don have any food… The waitress has forgotten our drinks twice and it’s not even busy… I am very disappointed in this special evenings dinner!

Hands down the BEST sushi in Polk County! Went for my birthday (2 days after) dinner last weekend and could not stop talking about how good everything was. Crab rangoon was a great start (and the sauce. too good for words), and tried the volcano, scorpion, bagel and cali roll. All were incredibly FRESH and tasty! Made reservations but didn’t even have to use them (at 6:30pm on a Friday night). Only thing was that we didn’t have as much cash as expected for a great tip, we plan on going back and hooking our server up! Everything was beautifully presented and just overall amazing. Absolutely going back soon!

RAINBOW ROLLLLL!!! I’ve eaten at many sushi restaurants in Boston and San Francisco and this is right up there with the best as far as fish quality and taste. You will be happy here if you like sushi.

I’m not a massive sushi fan, which may be my fault for going to a sushi restaurant! But I did sample a couple pieces just to see.
The sushi was fine, it wasn’t horrible, but it certainly wasn’t great. My main objection came from the ‘fried noodle’ dish. Bland and dry and was obviously pre-​frozen before hand (or at least the chicken and veggies were). Served with a mayo based white sauce. A dining experience I certainly never want to repeat.
Service was a little slow, it looks like there has been little training as it took close to 15 minutes to place my order (despite waving the waitresses down several times to be told «give us a couple more minutes).

I have been to this restaurant several times over the past few years. Unfortunately not impressed at all. It was almost empty, not a good thing at dinner times. We were 1 of 3 tables, we had to wait over 10 minutes to put our order in. My fiancé finally stopped the ONLY waitress & asked if someone could take our order. She made excuses about serving a large party that by the way was 5 people. Attitude from her rest of visit. I ordered soup, appetizer & sushi (soup was only tasteful item i ordered). My fiancé didn’t get his meal till i was finish eating. Bad from service to food, like most sushi places in Polk County from good to very poor. Will not go back…

Tsunami sushi is one of my favorite things about being home. Next to two of the maybe six bars in wh, it’s great to grab a bite and then a drink with your buds. Everything is great they have the best spicy tuna roll, tempura roll, and the rodeo are so good. Chicken tempura, and their spicy mayo is the bomb. Dessert! Try the cheesecake it’s out of this world. Staff is amazing and very knowledgeable! I love everything about this place!

Sashimi plate for 1 was just okay. Swordfish sashimi were still a little frozen when served and the others taste okay at best. Only saving grace was the udon noodle soup. The broth just hits the right spot.

It is the best sushi you can find around this area. I have tried multiple places in Orlando as well and tsunami is one of the best comparing to them. Their sushi is very fresh and specials are always so creative. For those who aren’t a big fan of sushi, their beef teriyaki is fabulous !!!

Pleasantly surprised at the quality of sushi. It’s hard to find good sushi outside of tampa or orlando areas. The rolls were reasonably priced, and the sushi chefs put together a great presentation. I personally like the Philly roll and tempura roll. We paired sushi with a nice glass of white wine, and that hit the spot. The staff was attentive and the food was quick on a busy night. We will make this our regular sushi spot!

Was in Winter Haven doing some shopping with the wife and we ran across this tiny little sushi storefront on Central Ave. There were a few tables with some people so we decided to have a go with it. We were greeted right away we made our selections on the menu I went for a spicy tuna roll and a Hawaiian roll both were good the wifey had a California roll and salad. Keep up the good work.

Great place to get some really good food, However I don’t really go there for the Sushi
though its really awesome as well. I love ramen type dishes and living in Winter Haven, FL they are far and few between so you take what you can get. In this case Tsunami Sushi has a dish called Udon Soup that comes with Tempura, and its really good to eat for about 10.00 bucks which is cheap for this type of eatery. Anyways Udon is a hot noodle soup, with various meats and veggies in the dish with really tasty broth. I highly recommend you try it, First get Miso soup, then udon with Tempura, and then finish it off with some Grean Tea Ice cream and you will have a really happy stomach lol =)

Thank you Unilocal for steering me to this fabulous sushi restaurant! This sushi was more creative and delicious than my favorite sushi bar in California that I was missing so much. My hubby and I shared the Blue Dragon Roll, Tuna Lovers Roll, Eddie Roll and the Hawaiian Roll. The blue dragon which is green, and the tuna lovers are beautiful (see picture) and unbelievably delicious! The Eddie and the Hawaiian were good but not «get again» good. We were in town for the weekend event «Carols in the Park» and we picked Tsunami based on Unilocal reviews. We tried to eat here Friday, but no tables were available, so we went back Saturday early for our fabulous dinner. It was so good we wanted to go again Sunday, but sadly they are closed Sunday. Why oh why don’t we have good sushi anywhere near our home? Seriously considering just driving the 4 hour round trip to get those 2 rolls again!

I’ve eaten here twice now and I really like the place! The only reason for the 4⁄5 stars is their dinner combos are lacking. Unless you want terriyaki, you have to order rolls individually or spend $ 25 on a sushi combo. The terriyaki was delicious but its the only combo that comes with a salad, miso, and noodles (bonus: rice and veggies too).
That being said, the food is fabulous! The terriyaki scallops were cooked perfectly, very fresh and the sauce wasn’t sickly sweet. The veggies, noodles, rice, and cooked onions that came with the food were stellar and the ginger salad has a fantastic floral note to it. The sake is great and at a fair price.
My BF ordered sushi both times we have been there and he loved it. Great prices, incredibly fresh, and almost too much variety. The crab rangoons are some of the best I have ever had and the tempura is delicious.
I highly recommend this little gem in WH!

Lived in Winter Haven a few years and discovered Tsunami Sushi while I was there. Now whenever I go back, I make every effort to eat there at least once — and yeah, the staff will remember you.
I’ve never had a bad meal there, the sushi is always good and the staff is always friendly. I have a few rolls I always like to order, but the special rolls are worth checking out too.
My only complaint and it’s not worth taking them down another star is the tables, they just seem like they’re an odd height… like I’m sitting at an elementary school desk or something. Other than that, the atmosphere there is pretty laid back. They usually have music on with a TV or two tuned into ESPN.
HIGHLY recommend supporting Tsunami… it’s a shame there aren’t more restaurants like it. Winter Haven is full of chains.
