Breakfast was cold and service was horrendous. After the food was warmed, it was fine. Coffee is manageable, but not good.

Excellent food and a fun local atmosphere! They have everything from homemade pastries to a full on home cooked breakfast with some of the standard fare and some unique dishes too. Well worth the visit!

This place was awesome. Great service, great coffee and great food. I was also very impressed with the value. The portions were great considering the price. I’ll go back!

Food was good! Customer service left a bit to be desired. Stood in line for 15 minutes to be told when you want to order a dozen pastries you need to order 24 hours in advance. I said we were just traveling through town and looked you up on line. «Next time order 24 hrs in advance!» Then we asked to order a bagel and she sighed and said«you should have ordered that first». I’m sorry I just wanted to stand in line and give you money for your product! Will reconsider this as a choice next time.

I’ll give em a 5 star but I considered knocking a star off because I was really looking forward to seeing Peter loose his cool on a customer or employee. The food was delicious and the wait staff was very sweet and attentive. Hopefully next time I’ll get to see a better version of the managements antics.

DISGUSTINGFOODHANDLING& disrespectful service… September 6th, 201510:20am-12pm I’ve eaten at Rise & Shine before and loved it, but after today’s incident, I’m writing my first ever Unilocal!Review after HARASSMENT. Although it is a busy Sunday, we were excited that we were able to get 2 counter spots to eat pretty quickly. Once we sat down, I was telling my friend about the amazing bagels that they make in house, and while pointing to the bagel bins, the cook in the back yelled at us, with an angry face, «there is going to be a long wait,» assuming we were being impatient although we sat down happily discussing the awesome weekend. A blonde server wearing glasses was almost in tears due to an issue with another table causing the male manager to console the waitress right in front of us at the bar counter. Then the male manager went back to the cooks and told them«you guys need to take it easy and be nice in the back.» Our waitress, Alyssa, brought coffee and water to us and took our order. I ordered the Joe’s special omelet with an everything bagel(just toasted, no cream cheese or butter) and my friend ordered a breakfast sandwich. During our wait for our food, we saw Alyssa drop a food basket onto the floor and use her bare hands to pick up the food/utensils and throw them in to the garbage. There was a sink near the garbage can she threw the waste into, yet Alyssa did not wash her hands after handling waste off of the floor, which made me lose my appetite. There was an order for a 15 person table that was being placed on the order window all at once, making it almost impossible to differentiate all the omelettes that were sitting there since they looked very similar. While trying to figure out which omelette went to which table/server, we both witnessed waitresses using their bare hands to open the omelettes to see the ingredients inside. That really made me lose my appetite again, but I continued to give the team the benefit of the doubt because of a busy Sunday. Alyssa then brought me an everything bagel before my omelette came out, which I only wanted toasted, smothered in butter. I wanted the bagel with my omelette, so the bagel sat around for 30 minutes untouched, in anticipation of my omelette arriving. The bagel was initially toasted way prior to butter being spread on it, that the butter didn’t even melt. There was an order printer mistake that doubled up some orders, therefore there were extra Joe’s Special omelettes that were just sitting on the order window, which caused one waitress to say to another, «don’t place any more Joe’s Special omelettes in the system until the accidentally ordered Joe’s Specials are used up.» In an effort to help out and not waste food, I told Alyssa, our waitress, that I would take one of the Joe’s special omelettes. Alyssa’s response to me, «I can’t serve those to you until your order is up with the breakfast sandwich.» After Alyssa told me she couldn’t serve me an old omelette that just sat at the order window for 30 minutes, we were fed up and decided to leave. At this point, we were sitting there for over an hour still waiting on food. Other patrons witnessed how long we waited and were sympathetic to us because they overheard the bad service. The male manager came sprinting out of the restaurant and told us we had to pay the $ 20 bill for food we never received. We said that we saw multiple instances of food that was improperly handled and were not willing to pay for grossly handled food. The manager then threatened us that he would call the cops for not paying for food we never received. We told him to go ahead and call the police. The police officer said that we had to pay the bill since we placed an order, which we disagreed. I ended up paying the $ 20, but that does not release Rise & Shine from IMPROPERFOODHANDLING(picking garbage off floor and touching cooked meals to determine what was inside omelettes WITHOUTWASHINGHANDS). This is agains FDAFOODHANDLING procedures!!! I have since filed a complaint with the Colorado FDA for improper sanitation and food handling. I am super bummed to be writing this negative review as this was my favorite breakfast place, but I cannot tolerate being forced to pay for such disgusting food with the threat of having to go to court over $ 20. Additionally, the staff was talking about how over capacity the restaurant was. The female manager also acknowledged that one of the cooks didn’t show up for work today, making the day very difficult. I patiently tried to discuss these issues with the male and female manager, but they were not willing to listen at all or even offer a discount. They were offering other customers free donuts or bagels for bad service, yet did not want to compromise with us on anything. Police Officer Curran, said this isn’t the first time he has had to report to the restaurant, which he acknowledged there were many prior customer complaints that arose from bad service.

Nice staff and great food! I was a bit miffed by the wording for adding eggs and bacon or sausage to the french toast. I read it as «add eggs and bacon or sausage for $ 2.50». I thought this meant you can get eggs and bacon or eggs and sausage. No, eggs are $ 2.50. Bacon is $ 2.50. Sausage is $ 2.50.

Updating my review. They have expanded, remodeled and it appears have worked on their customer service. The food is exceptional and consistent. Their bagels are the real deal(I usually get the bagel egg sandwich). Their cinnamon roll french toast is amazing. The remodel is very cute and they created great ambience(something I wish Carvers would have done when they moved). And we have had great service(with one exception). Now one of my favorite spots in Winter Park!

Busy morning on Father’s Day today so they were packed. We were seated quickly though as we lucked into a group leaving. Great menu and the service was fine for such a busy morning. Our food took a while but we had a large so that’s fine. We all would go back but pick a less busy day. Large portions too which makes it nice and the flavors worked well. I would recommend a try!

It was chance that brought me here for donuts and an Americano to go. The service was fast. The selection was adequate to feed the sweet tooth fix on an arduous journey up the Rockies. Cute decorations with a bicycle on the wall. The basic Americano proved the right beverage at the right time. It was hot and coffee flavored. It went down smooth and soothing. And, really, smoothly soothing is sometimes the right medicine. Especially when it’s coffee related. Indulge in a chocolate sprinkle donut. It’s thick and delicious and leaves a grease stain on the paper bag. You’ll be glad you did.

SLOWSERVICE but the food is really good! I have to leave it at 3 stars. Even though this place is in a strip mall, I enjoyed every bit of food before hitting the mountain. This place could easily be a 5 star place. Just gotta step up your game. If you know you have an awesome place and people are waiting in line to be seated as well as taking food to go, bring some more help Like I said, this place could easily hit top marks with small adjustments here and there. When we did have service, it was great.

Solid spot for breakfast whether you’re on the go or want to sit down! We stopped here before going to the resort and I wanted something light so I went with the jalapeño cheddar bagel with cream cheese and a coffee. The coffee was nothing to write home about, same for the service(so sad when that happens) but the bagel was light, fluffy deliciousness! Others at our table ordered actual meals and the portion sizes were huge so you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck.

We went there on a Sunday morning and there was a long line of people in the«to go» line. So we sat by the breakfast bar and the waitresses told us to get up and ask the owner if we could sit there. There were 5 tables empty and six seats at the bar so we didn’t think it was a problem. And no one else was in line behind us. It seems like the boss runs the show and dictates every little thing that goes on. When we asked him if we could sit at one of the many open spots he said«only if you order drinks.» What the hell does that mean at a breakfast spot? Mimosas at 8:45am? I don’t think so. Even the waitresses look scared of him when talking about him and don’t seem happy to work there. We walked out of there and gladly took our business elsewhere. The owner needs a dose of kindness if he wants to keep his customers happy and his business open.
