My younger son was getting married, and I was referred to Kayla by Paula, owner of A Royal Pampering. I wanted to get a mani-​pedi while in town and at the last minute decided to get one in my home in California, so when Paula called me back, I told her that I no longer needed her but could she recommend someone in Winter Park who could do an updo and makeup on the wedding date a few days later? She highly recommended Kayla.
I went about packing and preparing to leave and flew into Orlando. It wasn’t until the night before the wedding that I realized that I had forgotten to schedule my hair/​makeup appointment! Thankfully, it was an evening wedding on a Friday, so I left a message after hours.
Kayla squeezed me into a 2:30 timeslot, which was perfect.
Just before I arrived, there had been some drama involving my son’s two dogs (who had gotten into some chocolate, necessitating a trip to the emergency vet hours before the wedding); my older son had dropped his phone (which shattered the screen) while rushing around doing an amazing job of being best man and he needed my phone; and there had been a couple of stressful e-​mail exchanges with a woman who has poor boundaries and lack of follow-​through for a task she had volunteered to undertake.
Kayla took everything in stride. Her calm, compassionate demeanor gave me the «space» to break down into a puddle of tears just as she was beginning to work her magic on my hair. She brought me tissues and allowed me the time to weep.
We found common ground and she eventually invited another stylist to join the conversation (Rob? sorry, I’m not good with names — sweet man), and we all talked for about 30 minutes between his customers as Kayla transformed my appearance into the perfect mix of curls and just-​enough-​makeup for an evening wedding. Since I was going straight to the wedding, I had brought my clothes and accessories, including three different purses, sets of jewelry and pairs of shoes. Kayla sat and took the time to give me her opinion as I modeled the choices. I left feeling like a fairy princess.
Kayla’s shop is on the corner of a sweet area in Winter Park reminiscent of European cobblestoned streets. I felt welcomed and treated like family. She listened to what I wanted (subdued, flattering updo and makeup) and she delivered. Most importantly, she held my hand as I cried my heart out, releasing the stress that had built up over the days leading up to the grand event so that I could relax and enjoy being the Mother of the Groom. And the cost for a last-​minute makeover was way below what I expected, and fair. I gave a generous tip.
Life can be more than strangers meeting briefly. I choose to have authentic, heart-​connected relationships and memorable, life-​affirming experiences in all my interactions with others. There are no coincidences. I reached out to Paula, who referred me to Kayla, and I had a transformative experience. In the end, I feel like I have two new friends — Kayla and Rob (?). Thank you, Kayla. I cannot wait to visit my son again and to bask in the warmth of your care and compassion.

I’ve been coming to this salon for a while. My first appointment was with Kayla, the owner. She is so very sweet and easy to talk to. She really has a passion for hair, and it shows. I never did much to my hair, but it needed a serious makeover. She listened to what I wanted, and did exactly what I asked. They had a promotion at that time that you received a certain % off if you booked 2 – 3 future appointments, which you could modify if you needed. I went back to her numerous times and she got my hair so healthy! It had been over a year since I had been back, but I got my hair cut and styled today. Per usual, she listened to what I wanted and did exactly that. I got a hair cut and a chem shot (for hydration/​moisture) and it came out to $ 75.00. Such a good price for being in Winter Park in prime real estate.

Salon Vaxxe is such a sweet and personable salon. The building itself is nestled in Hannible square and is covered in beautiful foliage. I have been coming here for the last year and I cannot rave enough of the quality of work and personable attention I receive. Kayla is a great listener. She asks lots of questions to make sure she is really clear of what you want done with your hair and makes sure your happy at the end. Her coloring techniques are far superior to any I have gotten in Orlando. In addition, the compliments I have received since getting my hair done with her, further confirm I have chosen a very talented hairstylist. Thanks Kayla for an awesome job everytime!

I set up an appointment for 12noon. The stylist who was supposed to do my color, Kayla, walked by me several times, asked me to fill out a form, and then disappeared for almost half an hour. Then she wants to start with my hair. I had other places to go and could not begin an appointment that wasn’t started until nearly 30 minutes after it was supposed to. I let her know how upset I was and walked out the door. This was my first time coming to this salon and they did not make a very good first impression. We all know that had I shown up 30 minutes late for my appointment, they would have not seen me that day. I don’t do business with anyone who does not respect the fact that my time is valuable. Being new to the area and going through this was not very reassuring. I have since booked an appointment with Capricci Ricci and will write my review of them once the appointment has been completed. I will never set foot back into Salon Vaxxe again.

I had an interesting first experience here at Salon Vaxxe! The owner Kayla wrote me and wanted to fix the situation. Well, she did and I had an amazing experience. This salon is very inviting and informative with your options. They have wine while you get pampered and I loved it.
Jessica who did my hair did an amazing job. She took the time to ask me what I wanted and listened. She did exactly what I asked! I will be going back and would recommend this salon to anyone! I will be back!

I came to Kayla about 3 years ago and have not been more pleased. I have long blonde hair and love to experiment. My hair is not only healthy, but I get compliments on a daily basis. The culture of Salon Vaxxe is classy with an edge. I always walk out with a positive attitude and new knowledge of whats going on in the world of beauty and fashion. What sets this salon apart vs others is not just the product lines and variety of services, but the fact that they are always taking classes and further educating themselves. The owner of the salon is truly motivational and only hires stylists that push the limits and crave to learn more.

I can confidently say my dry spell was up after I finally got my cut with Jessica… if you are unsure of how you look right, I sincerely say ask her… she is cool as shit and seems to do the trick everytime

Very very expensive salon! Charges by the hour $ 100 and bill racked up to $ 700! I have never paid for that much in a salon ever! Just letting you guys know that even if you bought living social, groupon, etc, the price is just sky high. The service was good but you can get the same thing done at a much cheaper rate elsewhere. I didn’t expect that bill and I already had some work done before I knew of my cost.

I never learned so much about my hair until I had my first appointment with Kayla at Studio K. From the moment she introduced herself, she provided friendly service, asked questions about my hair, if there were any concerns that I had about my hair, asked what products I currently used… It showed that she cared about why I was there and wanted to make sure she was doing what was best for my hair, not just the style but also the health. By the end of my appointment, we had addressed all of the concerns that I had, answered questions about the best products for the health and style I was trying to acheive, and had fun during it all. Kayla knows her stuff! She and the other staff provide nothing less than friendly and professional service to their clients. I have received many compliments on my hair since going to Studio K and I confidentaly advise people to go see Kayla in Winter Park. It was well worth the price. Compared to other salons in that area of Winter Park, this is very affordable and I received great service. Booking an appointment was easy and they made sure to allot enough time for my appointment as to avoid attending to no other client but me, which was a unique experience. I have no negative comments regarding this salon and I’m happy to have found it.

Out of town/​First-​time client and I had an awesome experience. The location is beautiful and the salon has a really cool, fresh vibe. All of the staff were extremely friendly and accomodating and make you feel very welcome and at ease.
My stylist was Lexi and in addition to being super nice and fun to talk to, she took a very long time making sure everything was done just right, which I greatly appreciated. I received highlights/​lowlights, a conditioning treatment, cut & style, and a Shellac French manicure, which was FREE due to a promotion they had running on their Facebook page, so check it out for future promotions.
I was thrilled with the outcome, and maybe even more thrilled with the price, which was extremely reasonable for all of the services I received. They also gave me a first-​time client welcome package with discounts for future treatments for myself and several referrals, which is just one more reason I will definitely return the next time I am in the area.

I’ve been getting my hair cut by Kayla for more than two years and was thrilled that she’s been able to open her own salon with her high standards.
As a client, you’re going to get treated extremely well from the moment you walk in the door and are offered a drink. The stylists there take time to really find out what you want and will work with you to find a style that you may have seen elsewhere.
I like to go there for a Saturday morning appointment as the salon is in Winter Park’s Hannibal Square, right near the farmer’s market. Gives me time to check out the market, get something to eat and then head over for my cut.
Definitely try the scalp massage!
