When you know the chef… You’re usually in good hands! And that’s the case here at J. Kendall’s in Winthrop, MA. Chef Todd knows comfort food. He also has a few tricks up his sleeve when it comes to savory menu specials! I’ve had the baked haddock, steak tips, broiled scallops and tonight some nice seasoned meatloaf with mashed, big fresh carrots and brown gravy. Enough said. My belly is full and I’m smiling people!

Went to see my friend’s band, after a thimble sized jim beam for $ 6.50 + $ 1.00 tip, my friend offered to buy the table a round. He had had two budweisers previously and they were both warm, he asked the bartender for a cold one and got shut off. Big guy that bartends is not very intelligent, stay away from him and this place when he is working.

Excellent food prepared with only the finest and freshest ingredients! Great waitresses and the owner is phenomenal. The bar also is a good stop if you want to socialize. Amazing place overall! Don’t let its small size fool you; the best things always come in sma packages ;)

Our group(5 friends) were visiting and staying in the area. None of us were from Boston and we were looking for a quick place to have a drink and have a good time. We couldn’t have been happier with the bartender and the server. Both were extremely friendly, funny, and informative. Very low key but a good place to hang out.

My guy and I have been on the lookout for a good bar to frequent. We’ve driven past J Kendall’s often but never gone in. We went tonight, and as we left we just looked at each other and went«that could NOT have gone any better». We hit karaōke Friday(super fun people). The cocktail menu was FANTASTIC, especially if you like your drinks sweet and strong. And the bartenders were so fantastic. We loved everything, including the appetizer we got. Will definitely be back. Probably every single Friday.

Karaōke friday night! ! Would love to fill this place! Breakfast is excellent and its a cozy place to come to. I think on Sundays they have some breakfast specials and I love their sausage gravy and biscuit. Some of the specials are huge and not expensive either for what you get! I love coming here, the owner is super friendly and they even serve lunch and supper too.

I don’t write reviews very often so you know when I do, I must have had a BAD experience(or good, but not in this case). We arrived for a late lunch a few days ago and were met with the MEANEST server! She tossed our waters on the table and flung menus at us as if she hated us already! Clearly she was unhappy about something. I asked if they were closing early due to the snow just to be sure they were OK with us ordering. Too bad we had this experience — we left when they were out of 2 of the 3 dishes were ordered. We have been wanting to try this place since it is close our house and we just moved to town. Will not ever try it now as we will never go back!

This place is great not only because its close to my house but the food is amazing! At my latest visit I had the sweet and salty sandwich which is two eggs cheese and bacon between french toast and holy crap it was so filling and so great! I also had their bloody mary that was phenomenal! Would totally recommend this place to anyone who would like to go to a nice family restaurant!
