Winthrop Washington what is going on, the food here is crazy good!!! Recommended by a friend to check this place out for breakfast burritos. Lets just say unless you have recently won an eating contest then tackle it alone otherwise you would be wise to split the burrito with a friend or two! Small establishment with made to order burritos which have just the right amount of spice. You get to choose between ham, bacon, jalapeño bacon(YES!!!) or sausage. Go jalapeño bacon if you like it more spice. Loaded with potatoes, eggs, your pickings and more; they are just plain amazing!!! They also serve the local Blue Star coffee which is a very nice coffee. Really cannot say more than come hungry and go away full and happy!!!

Get the word out… These guys who took over javaman and are doing a great job! The burritos are made with such care and all fresh ingredients. It’s fun watching them«craft» a burrito to perfection. The potatoes inside are delicious! I wish we couldn’t gone back one more time to try the sausage gravy burrito! Coffee was good too. Fun relaxed atmosphere

Breakfast burritos… Need I say more? Fair price for a good breakfast. These guys make a good veggie breakfast burrito and a good cup of coffee.

Opened a Unilocal account just to write this review. Casual and laid back, this slightly funky hole in the wall gem specializes in 2 things, coffee and burritos, and delivers the goods in both categories. Using local Blue Star roaster coffee, the cappuccinos are made to perfection and the specialty chai lattes are great, too. Breakfast and lunch burritos feature choices like bacon-jalapeño, jerk chicken, and pork verde. The large size burritos are huge and will hit the spot after outdoor activities in the beautiful surrounding area. Friendly service and flavorful offerings, this is a welcome addition to the Methow’s casual dining scene.

I don’t usually write reviews but these guys are doing it right. They took over the place 3 months ago and are working hard to make it special. Got a mocha, it was awesome. Folks behind us came back in for a second round of green tea lattes. Ordered some burritos and they were delicious and HUGE! The guys pride themselves on using all organic, certified non-GMO, meat and veggies that they prep themselves. The place is small but the mostly local crowd keeps them busy. Great food, great service, super friendly. They even stayed open an extra hour to feed the folks walking through the door. We’ll be back for more fabulous burritos.

I walked through the door into a pleasant aroma of gluten free eggs and free range tortillas delightfully wafting toward me. The owner of the establishment greeted me and said«Just drip?» I concurred and also ordered a couple of locally raised organic sausage burritos. The service was excellent and the drip was flat out amazing. The burritos were absolutely sublime, weighing nearly 2 pounds each and when I scanned them for density there were almost no air pockets. The proprietor was dressed more like an unemployed carpenter than a batista but the overall ambiance made up for it. Overall an amazing experience.

My family always schedules our drives through or to Winthrop around stops at Java Man. It’s the first place we stop for a burrito and we’ll hit it as often as we can when in the area. This trip in October was no different. Pulled in across the street and when entering was greeted by two new faces. Turns out they just bought the place three days prior and we’re in the process of decorating it to their taste. I liked it. It had an earthy and warm feel. The two working on this day looked a little stressed due to a string of customers looking for coffee burritos or both. I didn’t hit the coffee but the burrito was very good — large — and well made. The burrito I had on my next visit was even better — looked like it was made by the younger brother and was visually appealing being sliced on the diagonal and showing each delicious layer — rice, beans, chicken, cabbage… The salsa is my favorite, slightly sweet and tangy — ask for two because you’ll only have to get up later and ask for more. Only suggestion would be to improve on the spices/flavors used. The burrito itself could use a little more spice/kick but that could just be me. Great food, really friendly staff — we’ll be back!

My coffee was delicious and the barista was very friendly. Service was quick but quality wasn’t sacrificed. I can’t wait to come back for another yummy cup of espresso

Disclaimer: I’ve never been to the Java Man Espresso bar(or Winthrop) prior to June of 2014. So, I can’t comment on all the poor reviews about this place from 2013 and earlier, because what I experienced recently seems to negate those older reviews. But I have been to Winthrop twice since June of 2014, and I’ve visited the Java Man 3 times! Yes, most recently(June 13 – 14, 2015), I had a breakfast burrito there both mornings of our stay. I’ll address the negative comments I’ve read first: A.) iPad for paying. Never encountered this. Cash register both times I was there. B.) Food from a can? Highly doubtful. Everything I saw being prepared was fresh. And on Sunday, I sat and watched the proprietor prepare six or seven burritos in front of me, so I know what I’m writing about. C.) Bad service. No. It’s a one-man shop, and he’s moving! Nice guy, friendly smile, talking to the locals. Yes, he was talking to the locals. Why? Because it’s the locals that keep these places in business when the rest of us visitors aren’t in town. Of course he’s going to talk to the locals. Duh. The breakfast burritos are amazing! Having lived in Texas and Central California, I am always looking for a great breakfast burrito in WA state. Most of the time, I’m disappointed. But not at the Java Man! Those breakfast burritos are legit, fresh and pretty damn big. I can’t recommend the Java Man’s breakfast burritos enough. I had given up on having a decent breakfast burrito in Washington until I took my wife to Winthrop last June for her birthday. I can’t wait to go back now! Winthrop is fun, but I also know that I can finally get a tasty breakfast burrito with the perfect blend of meat, potatoes, cheese and meat in town. Try the jalapeño bacon breakfast burrito! You’ll dig it the most. Note: Always check Unilocal’s ‘Filtered Reviews.’ One of the businesses I reviewed has a 1-star rating with only 1 review, but there are 5 ‘filtered’(hidden) reviews averaging 4.8 stars!

Terrible service. Drink was good but I won’t go back to be treated like I was. No smile — not friendly in the slightest.

I came in here twice, and was really impressed with their traditional home made burritos! Lots of fresh ingredients, and they are huge! Come hungry. I also had a latte, which was superb. The staff are really fun to be around, and encourage you to hang out and gab! Lots of interesting locals and tourists pop in(some Elton John guy ordered a peach/cookie dough latte, Wow!). I noticed some whining from a few of the reviewers about their food not being ready in a timely manner. Check yo-self, this is small town America; if you want fast, stay in Seattle and enjoy Starbucks/Taco Del Mar. All in all, friendly and delicious! Oh, and the staff are very easy on the eyes!

The jalapeño burrito and drip coffee I had was somewhat ok. However, the service was extremely slow and overpriced. They charge you with an iPad and then turn it around for you to sign with 20% tip already selected. Now, for good service at a restaurant I usually do 20%, but a coffee shop? You end up looking like a cheap skate if you just want to leave a few bucks as a tip, which is all that was deserved. This is a huge fail.

If you enjoy poor service, bad coffee, overpriced burritos and feeling unwelcome… this is the place for you! Do yourself a favor and buy a can of beans, shredded cheese, tortillas and microwave it in your hotel room, because that is exactly how your food is prepared here… and you will save the time and money. It’s too bad there was nobody in there before we ordered, because we would have walked out the moment the can opener came out. We’re also glad we didn’t order the chicken, because the two women were talking about messing it up when cooking and deciding how they would«fix it so they wouldn’t have to throw it out» BLEEEHH!

This is a good place to get a breakfast sandwich or burrito. I stopped in first at Rocking Horse Bakery, which gets great reviews online, but their breakfast sandwiches are premade and sit in a warming oven all morning(also, they all had Canadian bacon – you couldn’t get one without it). I went down to Javaman and he made my egg sandwich fresh(he scrambled the eggs and fried the bacon to order). It only took a couple of minutes. I will head straight to Javaman next time!

So we stop in for a mocha and immediately feel like we are intruding in someone’s kitchen. The owner who was making the espresso was chatting with people he knew and barely noticing us. Then, the worst part happened. He used hot chocolate powder in our mocha! Gah!!! It sounds like the burritos are the one thing that is done well here…

I was only privy to their espresso, as I already had a belly full, but what I had was worthy. Full flavored iced espresso done right. I am sorry I was unable to taste the accouterment burritos. My image further reinforced by the troves of elder towns men migrating here for morning eats & drinks on an early Monday morning as I was returning from my bike ride up Rt 20. Damn I shoulda stopped…

The sign out front had«Espresso & Burritos» in big bold letters. I’m trying to think of any combination of nouns that would make me happier: «Titties & Beer» ? «Jake and the Fatman«? “Pleasure & Pain»? «Burger & Fries»? «Dinner & A Movie»? Nope. I’m going«Espresso & Burritos» and I think I’m getting them tattooed on my forearms. That said, this place does both right. So good in fact, we went there for breakfast both mornings. We split a Mike’s burrito the first morning, which was expertly constructed on a stove top griddle, overflowing with cheese and bacon. The next day we each had our own, because we were hungover and that’s how I roll. And then there’s the full bodied espresso drinks poured by people having fun. Great place.
