NOT kid friendly and $ 12 chicken strips This low review is primarily due to the poor service, the place was empty and the service was soooooo slow. They were out of wines that we asked for and they rarely came back to the table. The caprese salad we had to send back as the tomatoes were rock hard but the calamari we got as a replacement was pretty good. The Italian pasta itself was actually pretty good I was just rating that it would probably be 4 stars. All in all I would NOT go back simply due to the experience that we had.

We loved this place! Service was amazing and pizza was great and authentic! This is my all time new fave restaurant! It was reasonably priced too. For my family of 5 we spent less than $ 70 which included an appetizer, martinis and wine, 2 pizzas, and a dessert. We definitely will be coming back here again!

the prossciuto wrapped pork chop with spinach and the Bleu cheese sauce over it was out of this world. Paired with a Kendall Jackson chardonnay. as an appetizer we had the caprese salad and it was perfect. this was a much much better dining experience than the disappointment of mitzi’s the night before. the wait staff was very attentive. next time we come to the Dells we will make a stop at this place.

Carvelli’s is an oasis in the middle of a desert of terrible food. The space is nicely appointed, the staff professional and knowledgeable and the food is sublime. I strongly recommend eating here rather than the plethora of chain restaurants in the Dells. We liked the food so much that we’ve agreed that it will be the place we stop to eat when we drive to Chicago from Minneapolis. A+++

This is the first time I’ve eaten here. I have walked by this place many times and wanted to eat here. I was pleasantly surprised. The only reason for 4-stars is that is was a little loud. The wait is worth it because the food is absolutley phenominal. An absolute must when you are up in the dells!

Horrible service. Empty place yet we had to wait forever just for water. Staff was rude and not friendly.

If I rate on food alone, there would be no stars. The place has it going on, from the décor and ambiance, food photos, menu options and friendly staff. But when it came down to the really important stuff when it comes to a restaurant — the food was absolutely horrible. As a foodie, I felt insulted — charging $ 16.99 for lasagna that tastes worse than canned pasta. The pasta made me think of the non-boil quick shortcut lasagne pasta. The meat sauce seemed to be from a can and seasoned with a ton of salt(tasted like Chef Boyardee). And the most insulting of all was the«cheese» they used. We’re in Wisconsin — you cannot cut corners on cheese. Took two bites and asked for my bill. Never ever going back.

So, we took the kids to the Dell’s for spring break. Found this restaurant & we love Italian so thought we’d try it. I regret it now. It was six pm on a Saturday & only one other table had someone at it. It’s a cute resturaunt. But we were seated at the table closest to the bathroom & the entrance to the kitchen. Annoying when ever single table was open in the place. Our meals were all ok. Nothing exciting that we’d rush back for. I hated the house Italian dressing. Way too much vinegar. Yuck. The worst part of our whole experience, was that they left the giant front door/window wide open the entire time we were there. It’s cold in Wisconsin in April! We had to go out to our car for jackets! We even mentioned how cold it was & nothing. Yup not worth going back. Just weren’t excited about any part of our time there.

I’ve only been at this place once with a group of friends but it sure made a good impression. We found this place via Unilocal from other reviewers. The cool thing about this place is that there’s an open kitchen so it lets you have a good view while you eat and offers a bit of excitement to see how the food comes to your table. They offer soft warm bread while you wait. Although their pasta was a bit on the heavy side, their crab cakes were phenomenal. It was so tender, soft and full of crabs in every bite. Crab cake $ 12 Linguine alle Vongole $ 18– fresh clams sautéed in garlic and olive oil. I would definitely visit this place again when I’m back in the area some day!

I went here in the winter during my first ski trip and thought the restaurant was very cute. The lighting was fin, the kitchen was open, and the waitresses had uniformed outfits. I got their thin crust BBQ Chicken pizza and it was great. It was oozing with cheese and the crust was just right– nice and crispy. I had leftovers and it even tasted good microwaved.

4 stars for food. 0 stars for service. 20 minute wait on a Saturday night with 9 tables and 3 booths open?! 15 minute wait for waiter and house bread?! Ordered apps and pizza for a large party and requested to be at table at same time… Apps came 10 min before pizza. Food, awesome. Service, ridiculous.

Stopped in while visiting family in the Dells. My wife’s meal was excellent. 5 stars for her meal. My veal dish was good. I would give it 3 stars. Overall was happy… great atmosphere. Service was ok. Prices were a little high for the service provided. If you’re going to charge NY City prices the waiter staff should be trained at that level. That being said we would visit them again.

The good here was good and service was nice but I am so sad that they did away with the lunch buffet we really enjoyed that on previous visits

Had dinner with a friend. The food is for the most part is ok. I ordered chicken parm & asked for a side of penne. The chicken arrived first with baby corn an some kind of grey potatoes that was the worst thing I have ever tasted. Very bizarre! Past that the penne arrived about 8 min later & was fine. My experience in the Dells is the service pretty much is bad everywhere. Using that as your guide if you find a decent meal enjoy it, at least you didn’t have to cook or clean up.

I could kick myself for not reading the reviews on Unilocal first. Aghhhhh! The place was 95% empty and they sat us at the table right in front of the bathrooms. How about in front of the windows, so people would see that you actually have a customer. I ordered the Rustica Panini and they didn’t even make it as a Panini. We were in a hurry so i was prepared to eat it, however the meat on the sandwich had huge chunks of fat/grizzle and was completely disgusting. I sent it back with the waiter and I couldn’t believe the nerve that the Chef had to send it back to the table and he said that the large chunks of fat/grizzle was on the meat before they sliced it. Unbelievable! I didn’t ask for a replacement, I simply told him I couldn’t eat anything so gross, and the chef told him to bring it back to our table. I love prosciutto, so I understand when there is supposed to be fat in the meat for extra flavor. This certainly wasn’t the case. Stay away from this place, it is overpriced and an uncomfortable atmosphere and the staff is either bullied by the owners or chef, but they definitely have issues going on!

2 years later… what the hell happened??? I apologize to all of you who visited between my 5 star review 2 years ago and now. Bad sign when you’re walking up and they tell you they have an «all new menu.» But, but… we like the old one. We were there with the same larger group as our prior visit. Everyone couldn’t believe how the place had gone to hell. Crappy food and service all around! My wife got the worst of it. She ordered a gnocchi dish, when it came it was spinach gnocchi that was undercooked. If you’re using a spinach noodle in a dish, you should mention it on the«new» menu, right? So they offered a substitute – she picked penne and meatballs. It came out right away, and that was undercooked as well. I’m not talking al dente, I mean crunchy. Is it that hard to get it right? They have tons of staff, most of whom seemed to be good at standing around. Sad to cross this one off the list, it used to be a real gem.

This place was everything I expected and more! Service was superb and the food was delicious! We had called ahead and placed a reservation since it was a Saturday night and there was 8 of us. When we arrived, we were greeted promptly and seated at a table on the main floor, in the middle of everything. Fresh hot bread was served with cheese and olive oil already on the table for dipping. For appetizers, I had split the crab cakes with a friend and one crab cake was more than satisfying but I had to try the mussels in marinara sauce and I’m so glad I did. I would order it again in a heartbeat. For my entrée, I ordered the lasagna. I swear there were at least 10 layers of pasta. Delicious, hand made pasta smothered in home made Bolognese!(If you were carb loading this is the place to be eating.) None of us were able to finish our entrees. There was so much food. I’m so glad we were able to enjoy this gem in the Dells. I would definitely come back to this restaurant if I were to visit the Dells again.

For $ 11/person, for a pizza/pasta buffet, I wasn’t impressed. Yes, the food was good. But it wasn’t worth $ 11/person. The problem was, I would’ve rather been able to order off the menu. But if you get there before 4:00 p.m., you can’t do that. It’s buffet option only. And the buffet girls look less than irritated to have to scoop your pasta. Sorry, I didn’t choose your job, and I’d be more than happy to do it myself, but I can’t because I don’t run this joint. The alfredo pasta and four cheese pizza were the standout items on the buffet menu. The sausage pizza was dry and not worth finishing. If you want pizza, try Pizza Villa in the Dells. It’s cheaper.
