I felt the need to comment after all the negative reviews. Looks like they responded to the criticism. They ditched the buffet and went to a manageable menu. I went with a safe option being skeptical of the food quality, ordered the hot mess. It came out hot, and if you don’t work in food service, this is probably more important than how it tastes. That said, it was pretty good. Portion size was plenty big. My server was polite, attentive and the food came out fast. Granted I was here when the place opened at 8. Prices probably a little high, but it’s the Dells and I could walk here from my room. I also like the dinner style coffee, with a pot dropped at the table to refill. I would come back.

I was not expecting much from our in-hotel café, but it still somehow fell short. While staying at the Wilderness for a wedding, we opted to hit up the breakfast buffet because we wanted some quality pool time and it was early in the morning and rolling down the hallway seemed much easier than driving and parking and paying Dells prices somewhere else where we’d have to wait for a table. We were the second group to come into the café after it opened, and the food was hot and fresh — but unfortunately only in the way of having just been heated up and placed out, not in the way of being freshly prepared and light and flavorful. The buffet was carb heavy, and while that is usually my favorite part of breakfast, I want my bread products to be worth the calories. The french toast: awful. The biscuits: dry and flavorless. The mini waffles: spongy and flavorless. Luckily everything was in small portions so I didn’t feel bad taking a bite or two, deciding it was just not worth it, and moving on to the next item. I usually feel terrible wasting things, but here… not so much. There were two highlights: the bacon, and what we guessed was a baked french toast. The dish had a custard-like interior, a sweet, syrup-y sauce, and notes of vanilla. Crazy rich, but far and away the best thing on the entire buffet. The bacon was stacked up literally a foot tall and was a good balance between crispy and chewy — not burnt, but not fatty either. Wild Canyon isn’t a terrible option if you’ve got a lot of people in tow(especially kiddos), but you’re definitely paying more for ease and immediate service than you are for quality.

Lousy After being seated, it took 15 minutes for our waitress to appear. We finally received our drinks well into dinner and ended up waiting forever for the refill. Waiting for the check also took forever. I can’t imagine they were understaffed as there were hardly any other patrons. The food selection of the buffet was limited and the food was mediocre at best. The positive is that the kids eat free, but that’s not enough to entice us to come back.

Wild Canyon café is for families with not a lot of dining expectations. You get in you get out. You get your food that is school cafeteria quality for a price that I was not worth the breakfast buffet they offer to the diners. Their customer service is friendly and nice. The food I wish it was better. Serving pancakes, danishes, fruit, omelet station and hot and cold cereal. It was okay it kind of feels like camp food. Which is okay if you were at camp. But we were at Wisconsin Dells paying Wisconsin Dell prices for the food and experience. Hey for some families they probably find to be good and quality for us it didn’t hit the mark. We probably would never go back because it’s not our style. I hope your dining experience will be better than ours.

If you value your taste buds, your wallet, and your pride, please skip this buffet. Is the location convenient if you’re staying in the Dells? Yes. That’s about the only positive I can muster. If you can’t even do scrambled eggs right, then there’s a problem. The breakfast sandwiches are tasteless, the sausages tastes of processed meat, and the variety of food for this price buffet is not worth it in any way. Sure there is a tantalizing mountain of bacon at the end of this buffet line, but this is not a mountain you want to traverse. Just drive 10 – 15 minutes and find something better for everyone.

My husband and I, along with two of our friends, came here for the breakfast buffet on a Saturday morning. We were seated pretty quickly and had a very nice server. The food that was served was decent. They had eggs, sausage, bacon, pancakes, potatoes, corned beef hash, quiche, and fruit. I do wish that they had a bit more variety in what they offer for the buffet. For example, I have been to breakfast buffets where smoked salmon is offered. It would have been nice to see something like that here, especially for what the Wilderness charges for you to stay there. This isn’t the worst place that I’ve eaten at, though. I would eat here again.

I came across these awful reviews while I was waiting to order, and thought«oh, great». I am very picky about food and braced myself for a horrible experience. To my surprise, breakfast was very good and only cost about $ 20 for my family of 5. I’d be happy to eat here again.

2 things good, the rest bad. Kids eat free… That was good. The other was the bacon. Delicious bacon stacked as high as you can see. The buffet food is typical, bland, boring fare. Nothing to set it apart. The biscuits taste like cardboard and the gravy is almost as bad. I didn’t find any sausage or any meat in it at all. Just like a white pepper gravy. I didn’t care for much of the food, but it sure would help to get some fresher ingredients on there. It would also be nice to get some actual stuff with flavor. There are much better places to go. I’d visit Baraboo and look up The Log Cabin. It has the best breakfast food I’ve ever eaten and is only a 10 minute drive from the Dells.

Very poor service. Bland, overpriced food. Buffet was not available twice when we went. They really sock it to you knowing you really can’t go anyplace else while there in winter months. Would not recommend to anyone and will not be going back.

We are here twice while staying at the Wilderness this year. Service is okay. Food is quite poor, especially for what you pay for it. I purchased a Chef Salad. This is a salad with an egg, ham, turkey, and a couple cheeses. Well first off they forgot the turkey. It was brought out with apologizes for not being on the salad, though it should of been apologizes for being used in the salad. It was cheep deli meat Julian cut. The cheddar cheese was grated cheese. For $ 14 the salad was a joke, it was more like a $ 7 salad. The kids and my wife got the buffet, which is a real joke in food quality and my poor wife suffered from heartburn all night, which she never gets. The second time we ate here was for breakfast and their breakfast buffet. Unfortunately we ended up with a really rude waitress who obviously didn’t want to be there. The manager handled the situation very well. The breakfast buffet, on the other hand is pretty poor quality. Canned corned beef hash. Overcooked eggs in chafing dishes. At least the bacon was cooked in different done-ness. That was appreciated. The restaurant is right in the resort, so if you don’t feel like going for a drive and losing your premium parking spot you nabbed the night before, you are stuck. I really just wish they didn’t make me feel like they are trying to make as much money off of me as possible by charging a lot of money for simple, low quality food.

I wish I had read the reviews before choosing this place for dinner. We had a party of 12 and all had the dinner buffet. Only 4 of our party order soft drinks which was never refilled without us hunting down the«server» and requesting more. At the end of the meal they tacked on a mandatory 15% tip on top of an overpriced meal.

The only good thing about this place is that it’s what will keep you from dying of hunger if you are skiing/boarding all day and are too lazy to drive elsewhere for food. But everything is outraaageously over-priced. I understand having to pay more in places such as these(i.e. places where they know they can over-charge simply because there are no other options around), but it would be nice if the food was actually edible. The pizza literally tasted like school cafeteria food in Chicago during the 90s. Very very gross.

Terrible! The food is unbelievably bad. For 17.99 I would rather watch my money burn then eat here.

Decided to come here with the family for dinner since kids eat for free. What a mistake. The food is TERRIBLE!!! At some point I thought I was getting punked because there is no way almost every option on the buffet could be so bad. Well turns out I wasn’t getting punked and that was just reality. I would not recommend this place to anybody.

Ugh. Seriously overpriced food that tastes just like the stuff you got from the school cafeteria. I should know better than to ever visit a hotel restaurant, but the MIL wanted to eat now and didn’t want to drive anywhere. Thanks for reminding me why I shouldn’t frequent hotel restaurants.

We needed a quick breakfast before we hit up the water parks at the Wilderness so we stopped in at the Wild Canyon Café. The breakfast has both a buffet and a menu. If you’re staying at the Wilderness, kids eat at the buffet for free. Adults were like $ 14 for breakfast so it was a decent deal for a family of 4. The food was ok. You know, typical breakfast buffet stuff. Not bad. I think better breakfasts can be had just down the street but if you’re just in a hurry to grab a bite and don’t feel like leaving the resort, this is a good call.
