El Mezcal Restaurant

Always friendly, fresh and fast! The food is very good for the price you pay and the speed it comes out. I highly recommend the tacos de pascado, the pork carnival and the chicken chimichangas. I’ve liked almost everything I’ve ever eaten there except the taco salads. This is one of my favorite places! You can’t go wrong if you choose to eat here! I did deduct one star because I think they need to clean the restaurant a bit more.

Quick seating, quick service, great food. Only downfall is that it took 15 minutes for someone to bring us our bill and then to make our change.

Great restaurant the best in Wisconsin Rapids by far. Service is very fast the 2 for 1 Margaritas on Tuesday and Thursday are awesome. I usually get the Fajitas but everything on the menu is tasty. They give you Chips and Salsa right when you walk in. You wont be disappointed. If your in Rapids give it a try.

I have been to many different Mexican restaurants and never walked out of one totally impressed and satisfied as El Mezcal. The service is fast, the staff is excellent, and the food is full of flavor. I recommend the taco for lunch, the meat is juicy and the shell is crunchy and not stale tasting or textured. The guacamole is very delicious and the tortilla chips are warm and crunchy. I almost guarantee you will enjoy this restaurant as much as myself and my party did.

Taste was good and service was fast. There is more room inside than you would expect.

Great service nice atmosphere and food was good. It comes on a hot plate. Outdoor seating as well.

I placed a to go order of a meal that was recommended on Unilocal,the fajita quesadilla. It was just ok as it needed a lot more seasoning. Before I write the restaurant off, though, I will go again and order the same thing but eat it there next time. Perhaps freshness will help, although I will need to remember to take some seasoning with me (just in case).

I eat here a lot. The food is always good, fast and hot. The waitstaff are very pleasant and efficient. The salsa is the best! Spicy and smoky. I love that they use real cheese in the enchiladas. My only peeve is that they don’t remove the seeds from the chile rellenos, which I love, but can’t order here due to the seeds. This is the place to go for margaritas and dinner on a week night. They are pretty busy most weekend nights.

If you like fast and friendly service, very good Mexican food, and inexpensive, this is the place to go in Rapids.
Never disappoints us. Even when the restaurant is busy you still receive prompt service and good food.

For me this is probably the best restaurant in Wisconsin Crapids.
I have probably been here 1 million times and can honestly say never walked out disappointed.
The food is always great and the service is good to.
And talk about affordability with this place you can’t beat it.
When I ask for lemon wedges or lime wedges they bring me a small bowl full and I’m never charged extra and I gladly reflect it in the tip.
The chimichangas especially shrimp are really good and I love the chili rellonose.
With this place I’ll keep coming back and always recommend it it’s even better than the one in Stevens point!

Magical. From chip girl to the chocolate taco and everything in between. Authentic mexican food with excellent service. A real gem.

This is a great Mexican restaurant! Excellent service fair prices and great tasting food. I recommend the quesidilla fajitas for lunch and Guadalajara for dinner. The 2 for 1 margaritas on Tuesday and Thursdays are wonderful and fried ice cream for dessert yummy!

Good food and good service for the most part. Usually go with the girls and only thing I wish they did different is split the bills per person. It’s a pain trying to remember who’s item costed what since the bill does but reflect the food you ordered.

We have visited El Mezcal at least a dozen times in the last 5 years. The food is great! Service is always fast and friendly. Kids love the cheese dip, all the entrees are delicious and authentic, try the chili Colorado if you want something spicy. You won’t get short poured on the margaritas, either!

By far one of the best places to eat in the Wisconsin Rapids vicinity and/​or Central Wisconsin. This place (The El Mezcal Chains of Central Wisconsin) is a place you can eat at whether in Rapids, Point, Marshfield, or Wausau, and can expect good food, quick service (I had a rare occurrence at different locals where it wasn’t the consistent awesomeness), and consistent taste.
Great food, quick service, and cheap. I remember when they first opened in Marshfield like it was yesterday.

Best option in Wisconsin Rapids. Get the fajita quesadilla.

Tasty local Mexican. Good family friendly atmosphere with a generous menu of favorites. The price is fair and the portions (we had lunch) was perfectly filling.

Best chips and salsa I have ever had. If you are going, I recommend trying their Chimichanga.

just finished some of the best carnitas that have ever tried – crispy hunks of pork that tasted like PORK, chips were warm and toasty, salsa pretty standard and the Negra Modelo too cold but carnitas were great and their take on a chile relleno was good although do prefer them crispy.
Most there offerings are standard – barely seasoned ground beef (or chicken) in the entrees, pico was fresh and tasty but had to ask for more. Guacamole too was light on fresh flavor and over processed. Service was quick and pleasant with standard hot plates.
With all that will return for carnitas again for sure – fajitas are ok too but most everything else wasn’t any different from any other Mexican place in all the cities around here

The service was very nice and they had the obligatory Mexican music playing. I also liked that all the seating is in booths.
Really good tortilla chips to start with when we sat down. They also had a very good selection of lunch plates to pick from. I had the verde chicken with side order of a chile releno. The verde sauce was decent, but the releno was awesome. I wish I had just got 2 of those for my meal and skipped the verde.
They also had a good selection of deserts including a chaco taco which I hadn’t seen since I was a little kid.
