A group from the office generaly orders take out on Fridays fro lunch. Today we ordered from here and I was a tad disapointed. The Kung Pow chicken was only 2 notes– spicy & salty. Filled with mostly chopped celery, a few canned muschrooms, and water chestnuts. The eggroll was bland and soggy. The pork fried rice had chunks of fatty pork. Overall just basic Chiense food adn there are so many better options here in Woburn. The delivery was fine– quick and everything arrived hot.

I guess when you’re used to Chinese food from Hawaii, having Chinese food in the mainland is very different. The taste is not the same and even the rice falls apart! This was one of the few places in Woburn to try. I tried to order all the regular stuff(I.e. beef broccoli, lemon chicken, etc.) The lemon chicken tasted processed and the beef broccoli was bland. The crispy gau chee wasn’t that tasty either. Kind of pricey for the portions also. Convenient location, though.

Tonight My sister and I decided to order from Woburn’s very own China Delight needless to say, it wasn’t very delightful. Not only did it take 2 hours to get here after we ordered our food but the food was terrible. when the delivery woman came she arrived at the wrong house and took 10 minutes to write down my card number. We ordered peaking ravioli which was under cooked and distasteful, crab Rangoon that tasted sour, lo mien also undercooked and very mushy, teriyaki chicken that was tough and very dry, and general gaus that was over breaded, over sauced and foul. The package was delivered with a container of sauce that was busted open and all over everything but those things happen, very understandable. we helped ourselves to the chinese food, took a few bites and felt that it was unbearable. We called and after arguing with the manager for half an hour he decided to charge us 15 dollars rather than $ 50. WOW… while their menu still has the old fashion 50’s style, the food tastes as if it could be left over from the 50’s as well… one thing i can say is that the food was semi warm. The complementary french bread was the best part of our worst meal EVER.

If you like old-school Chinese food this is the place. It is the last of a dying breed and a true Woburn institution. Never went there too much as a kid until Charlie the Duece’s dad introduced it to us in the early 80’s. I still think it’s better than any of the Chinese in Woburn Center which isn’t saying much. When I left that craphole town in the late 90’s it was Oriental, Ocean Wave, and China Delight. They all kind of sucked but China Delight at least had that old fashioned 1950’s style menu you could rely upon. And the people there are really nice. Anyone remember Shanghai the place accross the street? I loved that place.

I really can’t believe I’m the 1st to write a review about this place. When I moved to Woburn a couple of years ago I was seriously disappointed with the Chinese food selection in the area. Finally as a last resort I decided to try this little hole in the wall place in Woburn center. Surprisingly China Delight turned out to be quite a pleasant experience. Althought their restaurant is pretty small and appears rather run down(I think it’s because they’ve been around forever), the food was very good. The staff was super polite and friendly. After a few visits, everyone started to recognize me and ask me how work was going or bring me a cup of tea when I came in from the rain/snow. I love their Chicken Chow Foon(similar to lo mein but with wide noodles) and their Chicken & Broccoli. All their appetizer samplers also come with a free pint of pork fried rice which is a nice little money saver. I found all the appetizer items I tried were pretty tasty. If you are ever in the area and are in the mood for Chinese food, don’t let the outward appearance of the restaurant deter you. China Delight is a great find!
