We recently hired Jack/Gaelic & Garlic for painting our nearly brand new 1500 square foot home. I agree with the March reviewer that this was a big mistake. While I didn’t like many aspects of the experience(professionalism, communication, integrity), the main disappointment was the quality of the work. First, the finished work product is mediocre at best. When we have people in our home, a number of people have asked me whether I did the paint job because it doesn’t look like a professionals work. Second, they damaged our home — extensively — in numerous places. It should have been an ideal situation for a painter because we had not moved in and therefore had no furniture. Yet, they took absolutely no steps to protect our brand new hardwood floor. Paint was splattered everywhere. To make matter worse, they didn’t notify us to reach a proper solution when the damage occurred. Instead, they took black permanent marker in a lazy and cheap attempt to disguise it. Also, our toilets are covered in paint. Pictures are posted to give you a real perspective of the work. Third, we didn’t ask for our ceiling to be painted. Yet, when they painted the walls, paint splattered everywhere. They couldn’t find a quick fix, so Jack the owner, said he’d have to paint the ceilings. He then was audacious enough to ask me to cover his costs to so. We were so upset by this experience and disliked the work so much that we actually told them to stop the project(i.e. garage) because we were concerned that they would incur further damage to our home. In short, I would not recommend this company to anyone.

Found Gaelic and Garlic via internet search. Bidding was easy enough via Jack, who was responsive, professional and timely in submitting a competitive bid. References looked good so we went with them. Mistake. Issues: 1. The crew’s skill level was inconsistent. The guys that did all our interior woodwork/carpentry, did a nice job. But the painters were another story. One of the ceilings was poorly done, so they brought in another worker the next day to redo the entire ceiling. I also had to personally repaint the walls in one room entirely, after they said it was done, because they said they did 2 coats(out of one gallon!), but the blue was clearly bleeding through the new paint, and seams by baseboard and ceiling were not done well. Clearly they didn’t do 2 coats. 2. Why didn’t I just tell Jack to do the 2nd coat himself, as we weren’t satisfied? Because he told us that the contract is the contract and he would charge us additional. 3. We monitored their work while they were working, and were told to stop watching them, by Jack. So, after the next portion of remodeling, we went with Abate Painting. Much better experience. Hesitate on Gaelic and Garlic — suggest Abate Painting instead.

We were referred to Gaelic and Garlic by our realtor. We had three painters give us estimates and G and G were the best. The painters were neat, courteous and did a good job for us. We also got a quote from them to redo our hardwood floors(they do more than just painting). I would recommend them for your home enhancement needs! Jack(owner) was very easy to work with as well.
