Sun Nurseries

This is one of my to go-​to garden centers, along with Behnke’s in Beltsville. Their selection is oriented more toward shrubs and trees rather than a full range of plants. I too had a problem early-​on with plants dying that I had purchased there. I’m not sure why, but it may have had something to do with the conditions under which the plants were grown, perhaps not compatible with my suburban conditions. However, everything I’ve bought in the last couple of years has done quite well, so either they fixed something or I got better at properly siting the plants. Today, I’m off to check out their Japanese maple selection.

We recently moved into a new home and the backyard was bare. Sun provided us free design advice and took so many elements (deer, shade, kids) into consideration. We left with an amazing landscaping plan and lots of knowledge! The staff is extremely friendly and smart. I was so impressed with our experience every step of the way.

We have had a long winter here in Central-​Northern Maryland. It’s the first week of April and our daffodils are just beginning to bloom. I wasn’t too sure how much of a selection I would find visiting Sun Nurseries today but I was pleasantly surprised by their variety. They had a number of early-​spring annuals, perennials and trees just waiting to be taken home.
We just moved to this neck of the woods about two years ago and are just now getting around to giving our landscaping attention. With three young children in tow, I received excellent service and advice. I had a number of questions prepared. The staff is very knowledgeable and if they’re not sure of something, they find someone else quickly who can answer your questions. I felt very confident in the purchases I made today and I’m looking forward to a long and happy relationship with this business. Thank you, Sun Nurseries!

I was completely overwhelmed by this place. They have an enormous selection of outdoor shrubs, trees, etc.
My wife and I came here last Saturday looking for outdoor fruit trees and shrubs. They had plenty varieties of apply, pear, cherry, and plum trees to choose from. They also had many blueberry variants, and other fruit shrubbery and plants. I don’t remember seeing such variety at any of the other nurseries in the area (Central MD.) In the end, we left with a healthy blueberry bush and some herbs. All were reasonable priced.
The only negative about this place is that they didn’t have too much in indoor houseplants, herbs, or vegetables. I don’t think this place is concerned with those items though. If you’re looking for anything outdoors, this is definitely the place to go.

After the horror of buying plants online and having a TERRIBLE experience, Sun Nurseries saved my planting plans with their vast selection of high quality plants. This will be my go to nursery from now on.

I highly recommend Sun Nursery. They have a great selection, even in fall, when most places are mostly selling pumpkins and mums. It’s a good nursery for a more serious gardener or enthusiastic hobbyist.
