This is a great place with wonderful cuts of meat and great service. Now, the new and improved Meat Center is a full service restaurant complete with a sit down area and a deli, all day breakfast and gourmet grocery store. Love this place and with the expansion, I’ll be back for more. Cheers!

Went here for sandwiches before a golf outing with the guys. I got the turkey BLT and it was a revelation to my tastebuds. I was only able to finish half before golf because it was such a massive and delicious sandwich. Just half filled me up for the rest of the day, and I had to save the other half for the next day. Honestly, do yourself a favor and get a sub from this place.

Support your local shops! The owners are super sweet and provide great service to their customers. We’ve only been twice, but they remembered us from our first visit! Only purchased meat items so will speak to that. Generally, I don’t like to buy ground beef but really wanted to make burgers and didn’t want the hassle of grinding my own meat. Ground beef was fresh and had good flavor. Bone in pork chops were some of the best we’ve ever had! Happy to find a butcher with quality meats and excellent old-scool service. The owners told us the place has been open for over 30 years.

Why this place is great: Alan, the butcher, makes these hamburgers with ground chuck and a slice of filet wrapped around it held together with a long tooth pick. This is one amazing hamburger+. Cooked rare it over some hot coals or a gas fired grill, I have stopped adding any condiments — just a good bakery roll and this amazing steak wrapped burger. If you are going to eat a burger at home that makes 5 Guys and ShakeShack look mediocre, this is it.

Love this deli! Fresh, tasty sandwiches. Big portions and selection of choices. Homemade salads, sides, desserts, and prepared foods available. I love their seafood salad! Old school, quality butcher shop with premium cuts of meat. Nicest owners and wait staff! A little pricey, but really worth it! They make THEE best bacon, egg & cheese breakfast sandwiches! Be sure to call in all your orders well in advance for pickup… everybody loves this awesome neighborhood place!

Fantastic meat shop! nothing but the best. Alan and Judy are amazing and i have known ‘em for years and rely on them! They carry the BEST in chicken and grind their own beef for your burgers. Look forward to my weekly visits! are now putting on a beautiful addition for sit downs. It’s all good! Highly recommend!

Fantastic hamburger meat, decent sandwiches. Tasty soups and pre-prepared salads, too. Very Mom-and-Pop feeling shop with friendly service. The Italian sub, Cordon Bleu cutlets, and local bakery goods are a must!

I had a horrible experience here. The guy taking my order said he didn’t know how to make a Reuben which is on the menu. He then wandered away and left me standing there on my cane. He came back and told us again he couldn’t make the Reuben Meanwhile another guy came over. I got tied up with this utter nonsense. I will Never come here again. My whole family was with me to witness this debacle. Poorest service I have ever seen. And no apologies either.

I’ve been disappointed the last TWO times I’ve gone in for lunch because both gentleman making the sandwhichs have not made my order correct. Each time the same mistake! When I pointed it out the first time the gentleman made me like guilty one saying it’s already made and the second time I did not want to drive back resulting in literally throwing away forty bucks.

100% take out. I can only speak to the sandwiches which rock here! Fresh, generous portions and a huge sandwich menu to choose from. Freshly baked bread, rolls, etc. They even offer some vegetarian options. They also have an extensive by the pound deli counter offering Boar’s Head meat and cheeses, in-store made dishes like pasta, meatballs, salads, etc. In fact the last time I was here I noticed their prices for Boar’s Head deli meat by the pound was cheaper than Stop and Shop down the street! I haven’t bought any of the steaks, etc. here but locals swear by it. I almost forgot, their breakfast sandwiches will cure most hangovers… except Sunday ones(they are closed on Sundays).

The owners Judy and Alan are both very kind, always there working hard to keep it going. Great selection of quality meat from steak to pork to chicken. Many types of prepared meals. They offer a mixture of Italian and Jewish products in stock. Favorite sandwiches include the Triple Threat(breaded/fried chicken breast with panko breading, jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, in a white sub roll) add banana peppers and spicy mustard for a better kick. My other favorite is the cheeseburger sub which is a double cheeseburger with american cheese and ketchup but in a white sub roll. The same cost as other local style deli’s in nice areas such as Woodbridge– more than Subway(but you pay for quality here). Call your order in if its during lunch because this place is packed with a line 5+ deep from 11:30 to 1:30 during the week. Areas to work on: They don’t have a formal website with a menu(from when I last checked). They are old school and don’t have call waiting if you call your order in during lunch time you’ll hear an endless busy signal. Some older people working there are very slow and don’t make a consistent sandwich up to par with how they should be made. If they refinished the side area to have some room for seating it would help out with the flow of traffic during lunch. If they hired a high school /college kid to do delivery, it would create some great way for them to increase their sales– their niche is the fresh prepared food and high quality meat which older customers would appreciate delivery of.

Solid sandwiches, as well as a great«meat center» to order ground beef, steaks, pieces for stew, etc. Most of the time, they are made well and are often prepared in a generous portion. It is located on a side street between Route 63 and 69. From chicken cutlets to roast beef to hot turkey, nice food. The staff is a mix of the friendly helpful sort and the deer in the headlights that rather not be working. If they rid themselves of those deer, they might make it to 4 stars.

Most amazing tuna salad this side of the planet. Relatives and friends are hooked on it and it is a constant request as a gustatory present to destinations far and near. The Tuna Man :-)

My uncle swears by their meat! I was very surprised to learn they offered grinders made with fresh cut deli meats … sounds yummy hun? I wanted only a ½ grinder which they don’t offer but they have kisser rolls which are smaller come to find it out it was one of the most meat packed sandwiches I have every had!

Most of my experience is with the deli sandwiches: they’re generally quite good. The issue is that the size of the sandwiches, and to a lesser extent the quality, varies meaningfully based on who’s making them. Some of the folks here make them huge… some not so huge. Because they’re priced pretty fairly, it’s not like you ever get ripped off, but it would be better if it were more consistent somewhere in between the two extremes. I have less experience with the rest of the store, but meats appear to be priced fairly competitively. Also, they carry H&H bagels.

My friend BB swears this place has the best hamburger meat around. I usually mince my own hamburgers out of steak meat(don’t trust any meat grinders that I haven’t cleaned myself) but I can attest to his steaks and ‘burgers being A-1. This is a ye olde meat shop and deli that seems like a time warp from the 1950s, before Big Meat destroyed everything. They will cut your meat to order — perfect for us JapaKoreans who want their beef and pork cut ultrathin for nabe and bulgogi. Thanks! They also have a good deli section with coleslaw and other prepared foods, as well as a strange and varied assortment of other deli and local foods. Support your local stores, avoid the nearby Stop-n-Slop and shop at the Amity Meat Market!
