Very prompt, good humored, and low priced. Got exactly the maintenance I needed on my heating/​AC units. Other companies balked at even coming over to look at such strange motel-​style units.

I had my heat pump inspected and serviced. He showed up on time and walked me through everything he was doing. He didn’t have an up sell on everything either (very refreshing compared to the last contractor I had). He told me I don’t need to add coolant (the last company said it was ~$ 270 and I needed it ASAP). He helped me decide the best setting for the thermostat to keep my system running well.
I will definitely use Bettius HVAC for my Heating and Cooling needs from now on!

I would highly recommend Bettius Mechanical for any and all of your HVAC needs. This past weekend, they replaced a 20 year old heat pump system and we couldn’t be happier with the results. The install was quick, less than two full days, and they even stayed late to get more work done. Even the neatness of the install was notable. Very professional service.

I used Michael Bettius a few times. The first was after moving into my new condo and the A/​C stopped working. He came by quickly and replaced the thermostat, which corrected the problem. The second time I called him was a few years later when my a/​c again went out. To his credit, he came over for an emergency visit late on a Saturday night and filled up the freeon in my leaking unit. He said he could replace the unit for me at a reasonable price and we worked out a time for him to come back for installation. He didn’t even charge me for the emergency visit or
freeon that visit. I was so appreciative. He seems like a very nice guy. Unfortunately, after he installed my new unit, I had continous problems from the get go. The a/​c continuously stopped functioning. I had the unit 5 years, and he needed to make a house call at least 1 or 2 times a year to come by and fix the unit, which inevitably stopped blowing cool air every year. On one visit, he admitted I had a leak. This was a NEW unit. He did not charge me on any of these visits, as it was under warranty. But the stress of worrying about my unit constantly going out and having to miss work to meet him was annoying. Now I am six years since I had the unit installed and it crashed once again. Since the warranty ran out, I called another company to come check it out. They pointed out corrosion from the leak and said even though I had the unit installed 6 years ago, it was still a 10 year old unit. They said it was not the best quality model and it also had not been installed in the best possible way. So now I am purchasing another unit, when this should have lasted longer than this. What I am paying now for a better model isn’t even that more expensive — and it’s six years later! I think Mike Bettius seems like a nice guy and may have done his best, but in the end I got burned and cannot recommend him other than for minor maintenance related fixes.

Mike Bettius, the owner of the company is a very skilled HVAC technician who we have hired and consulted several times. The first time we ran into a problem for which another company took several trips, sent multiple technicians, charged us over $ 1000 yet still could not find the root cause. In a desperate, we searched online and found northern virginia online neighborhood recommendation about Mike and his company. Mike came the same day around 9PM, and was able to pinpoint the problem immediately. he recommended a fix and a quote which we accepted. Within a few days, he delivered new part and installed it, and the whole air conditioning unit has been working for several years. part and labor only costed us one third of the previous company’s charge, not alone that Mike pinpointed the root cause and and we never had a problem again since his repair.
We have multiple HVAC units so we’ve used and consulted Mike for other smaller issues and he always came by as fast as he can and his charge is very reasonable. We personally felt Mike is very honest and we really trust him.
