I had THE BEST Kale I have ever tasted in my life on Friday… Mamma put her entire food into that pot!

When I was out of town and wanted soul food and didn’t know the area. I looked this place up on Unilocal and I need to say that this is indeed a great place! The lady was very patient with me being that I was lost and took a VERY long time to get to them. I highly recommend this place and the food was very good. A hidden gem

I usually don’t give reviews good or bad but I felt the need to warn others of this restaurant.
Got there at 12am, the door was closed but the lady said to wait and she came and opened the door. My niece and I ordered our food and she said it would be 20 min. Which I thought was No prob, we expected it would be worth the wait.
What I was really looking forward to is Mac and cheese I even ordered an extra side order of Mac. However you are basically sitting in a kitchen so I saw the lady mix flour and milk and throw it in a pot. I thought that was something else didn’t worry too much about it. But then I saw her scooping out that same pot what looked like macaroni soup. I was disappointed but I didn’t want to just say I didnt want it so I told the lady I’ll take the two plates of food I ordered but will not want the extra side order of Mac and cheese as it’s not what I was envisioning.
She asked if I was sure. I said yes. She said that she had some other macaroni and cheese that was baked and that I would prefer that. I said sure! She said here let me give you some to try it, she scooped this out of a separate baking pan and gave me on a plastic spoon to try.
What she gave me to try was ABSOLUTELY SPOILED! I almost threw up.
I was so upset that she would give that to me to try knowing it was spoiled. She had to have known it was spoiled which is probably why she was making a new batch.
She seemed upset that I didn’t take the extra side but seriously!!! No matter what even if it’s for an extra 5 $, don’t give someone spoiled food!

I’m originally from NC with SC roots so I have been looking for a soul food spot since I moved up here. The food was great! I had turkey wings, mac & cheese and potato salad and my friend had the same thing except yams instead of potato salad. Everything was on point! The meat was falling off of the bone, the right seasonings were used and we were given hefty size portions. The place is small and the cook is super nice.
I will be returning soon to try her fried fish, yams, and green beans. I’m so happy to have finally found a good soul food spot in Woodbridge. Do your taste buds a favor and try this place out.

Why are there so few reviews? Fuentes Mini Grill has truly outstanding and delicious home cooked soul food, and the woman who cooks it all with love and mad skill is Blanca. Worship at her feet, because she is truly a wonderful cook.
We ordered:
Pig feet: cooked till falling apart. It’s the most deliciously collagen-​y hunk of feets.
Fish: yesssssssss. Nice big breaded fillets of white fish, perfectly fried.
Chicken wings: oh lawd, yes. Whatever spice mix she uses is so good — salty, peppery, paprika. Again, perfectly fried so the skin is crisp but the neat is juicy.
Shrimp: just ok, safe choice for the unadventurous.
Sides:
Mac and cheese: HOLY JAYSUS, take me now! I can eat a tray of this perfection
Green beans: perfectly vinegary
Potato salad: Yummy egg based dressing.
Fries: not my favorite because they’re thick cut. But spiced and well fried.
Dessert:
Sweet potato pie. Get it. Get ittttt. Blanca makes this and it is almost custardy in the mouth, and caramelly. I’d make sweet love to this pie, that’s how much I loved it.
In short; go. Just go! Call ahead as it is all cooked to order (exceot the side, chitlins and feet). Order everything. Extra mac and cheese. Say hi to Blanca. Praise the lord that this place exists.
Location: blink and you’ll miss it. Once you get on woodbridge st and F — it’s in that squat building. Look out for the Fuentes neon sign in the window.

It’s losing a star only because it has no place to sit. The food is 1 000 000 000% delicious! I had the turkey dinner turkey slides right off the bone omg seriously mouth watering. with green beans, macaroni & cheese. My husband got the fried fish dinner with fries I stole some of his fries and I didn’t even need ketchup (and I religiously eat fries with tons of ketchup) and collard greens. We also got an extra side of rice which was ok. Oh and we can’t forget the candied yams. Those were just perfect! The taste texture, everything! The prices are good for the amount of food you get and the quality. We couldn’t believe a spanish lady is the one cooking all this soul food (I being spanish myself could learn a few lessons from her in this cuisine lol). Bottom line it’s a hidden gem that definitely deserves more attention.

This place has food that will, as the comedian will make you wanna slap your momma. There are ribs, chicken, pig feet, Chitterlings, meat loaf, fish, shrimp, Mac and Cheese, Wings, ahh… just come on over. trust me, once you eat there once, you WILL be back. There is no place to actually sit down, so you should either call ahead, or go by order and come back in 15 minutes. She has banana pudding, sweet potato pie (my personal favorite) bread pudding, carrot cake, I am trying not to put the whole menu in this review, but its just GOOD FOOD!!! It is fixed fresh, so be prepared to wait about 10 minutes either in your car or like I said, just order it before you come by. You will leave with a full plate!
