You would think with a name like Red Dumpling that the dumplings would be the star. These had the thick wrapper that I like, but unfortunately many were burst open or not quite cooked enough. The sauce was also strange– not even sure how to describe it. My wife went chicken and garlic and pretty much hated it. I tried it too and it was weird– very sweet. The general tsao’s though– delicious. Top 5 I’ve even had in my life for sure. Parking sucks over here. The restaurant is right in front of a right turn only lane with a yellow curb. If you go, bring a friend to run in. Overall, not a bad local option, but I’m not going to drive over for anything here.

I have been going there for a long time, until yesterday. I ordered the Chef’s suggestion of Butterfly Shrimp with Bacon. I wanted to try something new. I ordered it to go, and when I got home, what I found was an omelet with shrimp and bacon in it, and a side container of red chili sauce to pour on it. I went to eat this only to discover that the omelet was«crunchy». They left the tails on the shrimp and put them in the omelet that way. It was just plain DISGUSTING! I threw it out and called to complain. The woman that answered the phone, who happens to be an owner, basically told me to go F’ myself, but not in those words. I understand that any restaurant at any given time can make a bad meal. The real issue here is that I was a long time customer. I have been going there for years. Notice I said«WAS». They lost me as a customer. There are so many Chinese restaurants in the area. I guess I will begin to try out some of the ones I have never been in to find one that I like. In the immortal words of Arnold, «Hasta La Vista, Baby!» Had the woman’s response been more favorable, it would not have come to this. But there was no excuse for that sort of response to an long time customer.

We ordered a number of items to try. Everything was delicious . Red dumplings are excellent, especially if you love garlic. Pork fried rice was phenomenal. The boneless pork paired really well with this dish. We also had the egg rolls, crab Rangoon and hot and sour soup. These were also very good. We would definitely order from here again!

Best Chinese spot in Jersey! And their home made Iced Tea is the best! I usually call for delivery and they’re good on timing too.

The food was alright. The steamed pork dumplings however were surrounded in thick dough and tasted horrible. We tried ordering from there a second time but alas, the same story. The pricing was good but I wouldn’t order from there again.

One of my fav go to spots for big bowl of noodle soup :) Yes this is a mom and pop place. Nothing fancy. Owner is raising her son and running the business. Watched her son grow from baby to now toddler. Love the homie feel i get every time i come here. Red bean bun and lotus buns are amazing!!!

I enjoy their food. I’ve had better, but I’ve also had far worse. The portions are fair, the food is tasty, and the price doesn’t kill me. If you’re in the neighborhood it’s a good place to get some chinese. I always do take out. I can see the negative comments about the restaurant itself. It’s definitely family owned, and they’re not to worried about showmanship on the inside. I’ll take off one star, but it doesn’t really make a huge difference to me personally. Also, their Thai Iced Tea is really good.

Having eaten at many different Chinese food locations, this one is by far one of my best experiences! Also, since my old college is right down the street I used to come here often with friends in between classes and really have no complaints. Portions are pretty good sized and not overly greasy like other Chinese food spots. Also, you don’t feel like you hate yourself after you’re done eating!

No stars. The food is horrid. Tried it a few times and every time it was bad. The soup tastes like it should have a boot in it.

While I get that it’s hard to keep a small business alive these days this place unfortunately is one of the worst restaurants I’ve been in. I will not even mention the food which was below average but the look and smell of the restaurant is just unacceptable. At the time of my visit, the owner(most likely) was caring for her newborn right at one of the tables. Later she went behind a screen inside the dining area to change the baby’s diaper. This is unacceptable and again, with all due respect for small businesses I would shut this place down right away.

I usually order my food to take out from Red Dumpling. I agree the décor is lacking and could use some upgrades, but the décor of the restaurant does not imply the quality or taste of the food. The food is always tasty and you get a good amount of meat in every lunch special. My favorite dish is the fried vegetable dumplings. If you go to a restaurant to get a good dining experience, this is not the place for you. However if you enjoy delicious, authentic Chinese American food without the frills then give it a try.

I must say, i was pretty excited when I saw this place because being from Hong Kong, I was really looking forward to trying their wonton noodle soups. *sigh* Sadly, it was not all that I’d hoped for. I guess I shouldn’t have expected too much from a place that’s not surrounded by fellow asians and they would have to cater to the more americanized palettes… but a girl can dream right? It wasn’t any better than what my mom made at home. The wontons however were pretty good, but not enough to entice me for a second round. The place is almost always deserted which makes me question ordering the roast pork or anything else that would taste a thousand times better fresh.

Was looking at the menu to order and the cashier went away to continue his lunch, another person was there but did not bother attending. Ordered a Shrimp with Cashew Nut lunch special, it was entirely loaded with diced broccoli stems, not a single floret or any other veg. and some cashew nuts. Bland even though I asked for spicy.(BTW, has anyone ever detected any garlic in the so called«garlic sauce» dishes or is it just me? I never find any garlic at any chinese place.) White rice was just fine. Hot and sour soup was OK. It will be a very long time befor eI will go there, if ever. Did not take credit card for less than $ 10.

I was not impressed with the place, the smell, the ambiance. It’s probably better for delivery, but we sat in and ordered. We got those cheap skinny noodles and duck sauce. The place was totally empty. I ordered chicken w mixed veggies and my sign other ordered sesame chicken. soggy for a dish that should be fried and crispy and my dish was pretty bland for something that is suppose to have a lot of sodium. I was told to try the dumpling, so 1 day I will go back just for that.

As classic chinese food goes, this is very good. Excellently priced. Their regular chinese dishes are okay, but where they shine is off the beaten path. Their cantonese noodle soups are very good, and don’t miss their beef on a stick. Solid crystal shrimp dumplings, although a bit overcooked at times. Very nice service, too.
