Food was only«OK». The prices are too high for the area and the service was also only«OK». The place feels like they want to be a nice upscale restaurant but they just don’t have the caliber of chef to back it up, nor are they training their wait staff properly. The drink menu was also woefully inadequate. They didn’t have anything«special» on the drink menu. So if you’re going out on a date night and want to indulge on a spectacular wine you can’t. On the flip slide the drinks they do have are over priced. So it’s really unclear what market they’re going after since you aren’t catering for the regular customer with cheap drinks, and you’re not catering to the special occasion with a superb selection. In order to be more successful they need to do one of two things. Either: Lower your prices to bring up the total value of a visit. OR Review the menu, concentrate on fewer better dishes, better wine selection and TRAIN your staff. The wait staff seriously feel like people off the street that know nothing about service.

After a day of foliage viewing, my husband and I ended up at Carlito’s thanks to the reviews on Unilocal, and I’m glad we did! It’s tucked away in the back of a small plaza that has a few other restaurants as well. Even from the outside, I was impressed. It has a very welcoming vibe. It’s a small place, however that doesn’t mean for lack of anything. Food was great and service was friendly! I was a bit confused at first — because the sign on the front said«Wood Fire Pizza» however, there was no pizza on the menu. They have their pizza on a different menu, which they grabbed for us. They brought out dinner rolls, which came w/butter and olive oil, which was delicious! Although, my husband and I both ordered from the pizza menu — one thing that impressed us was the choices they had for the spaghetti, as they had whole wheat. A nice touch from a little local place. My husband ended up ordering a small pizza w/clams and shrimp. I had a calzone w/pepperoni and garlic. Pepperoni and garlic is one of my favorite combinations, because they go together very well. Carlito’s did a great job w/this combination. Very flavorful! One thing that I loved that they did was they topped off the top of the calzone and the sauce w/Parmesan cheese. We had asked for parmesan cheese and red pepper flakes. When they brought out the cheese and red pepper, it was a nice surprise to see it in a small dish w/a spoon rather than the traditional jars. The calzone was a good size, and I brought half home. Some calzones can feel too«doughy» but this one was a perfect combination of cheese, ingredients and dough. We actually don’t live too far away(only about 45 mins) good chance we will be back!

Ate here last night. Service was kind of on the slow side and not all that helpful when asked questions about food. The food was edible at best but not good by any stretch of the imagination. And for the price I was expecting it to be good. The only reason I gave this place two stars is because inside it was very nice looking. Won’t be going back.

Excellent veal marsala and chicken cordon blue. Staff was extremely attentive and informative about the menu. Highly recommend going to this restaurant if you are in the area!

Nice small restaurant in Woodbury. Good food and good prices. Always feels good. I love the eggplant. This place is good for lunch and dinner. Never a problem.

You always feel welcome and at home at Carlitos. They have the best bar area in town. Lots of space and reasonable prices. Their house salad is always fresh. Pizza crust is brick oven fired and thin. Would love to see fresh basil on their margahrita pizza though. Best place in town to meet friends.

Carlito’s is a great place for Italian food in a nice quiet atmosphere. For an appetizer we ordered the stuff hot peppers, they were really flavorful with just the right amount heat. For an entrée I had the frutti di mare al pesto, which comes with lobster, calamari, mussels, clams, and shrimp over a bed of angel hair. Everything was cooked just right and their pesto sauce is fantastic; not too thick but still lots of basil and garlic. I’ll definitely be back to try more entrées and hopefully have some room for dessert next time.

We went here a couple of years back for Mother’s Day which was a small group of people. We brought a Mother’s Day cake for the moms in the group and asked if we could serve it. The waitress said it would be fine and didn’t say anything else in regards to it. They took the cake and put it in the back which we never asked them to do. Well, when we got the check our bill had a «cake cutting» charge and a plate charge. We were stunned; floored; shocked. We ended up going to management and we got both charges removed because we were never told that there was going to be a charge when we asked about using our own cake. Maybe this is foolish? But we felt that this was inappropriate and we should have been told in the beginning. It would have saved them a negative review and we would have had our cake at home after the meal. I’m leaving 2 stars instead of 1 because I can’t remember what the food tasted like since it was a few years ago. Hope they got better management since then but whatever you do don’t bring a cake!

Service was terrible. The waiter only came to our table three times. The place wasn’t even busy and there were a few waiters. For the prices that are charged, service should have been much better. The food was good but the evening was overshadowed by the lack of service. We will not be returning any time soon.

My wife and I went back to Carlito’s for dinner and we were very happy with the food and service. The dinner rolls were warm and soft. My wife had the pumpkin ravioli and I had the Pasta Fagioli and Fettuccine Alfredo. The pastas were homemade and delicious, and my soup was excellent. My only critique is that the alfredo sauce was a little on the thin side but still very flavorful. Our waiter was attentive and water refills were plentiful. We look forward to going back soon.

We love this place! When we first moved to the area(over 3 years ago now) we searched for a casual bar to hang out at. We tried several other restaurants in the area but none had a bar as inviting as the one at Carlito’s. The patrons were friendly as was the bar tender Don. We used to eat there at least 3 times a week before our daughter was born. Unfortunately we don’t get a chance to go often anymore. Atmosphere: Three main seating choices, the first is a large dinning area away from the bar with a more formal feel(Good for large groups.). The next is the area immediately around the bar that has as more casual feel. The last is my favorite, the bar. The bar is the largest one in the entire area with plenty of room to eat. Food: Our favorites are the eggplant parm, calzones, chicken fughi and their salads. The pricing may seem a bit high but once you see the portion size and quality you won’t complain. All of the meals come with fresh hot rolls. Drinks: They have quite a selection of different liquors. You will find just about anything you may be craving. They have great port just ask. The beer selection is a bit weak however. They have a few taps with decent beers and several more bottled beers but don’t expect microbrews. Overall this place is a wonderful place to go if you want to get away from some of the stuffier places in town.

I am a big fan of Carlito’s and think the pizza is the best in town, in a town full of options. A recent Tuesday night dinner(price fix night) was great food and a wonderful deal. The meatballs and spaghetti are straight forward and delicious. Nice atmosphere and a super waiter.

Came back here for pasta. The food was good. I came in around 8:30 pm on a Saturday and sat in the dining area — so it was pretty died by that time in Woodbury for the non-bar area. Service was fine. I still have a problem with the pricing though. It’s too expensive. I want to come here more, but I am paying a good 40−50% more here than other near-by restaurants and I don’t think the food merits the higher price. With that said, I am increasing my rating to 3 stars, from 2.

My wife and I love this place. The atmosphere is pleasant. The service is excellent. The prices are fair. They have a decent draft selection and their wine list has something for everyone. Their specials are always tempting, but I am a creature of habit and usually have my favorite prosciutto wrapped asparagus salad with homemade balsamic vinaigrette. They also make their own pastas and pizza. It’s so nice to have a great place to eat that is so close to home.

Wonderful ambience and Italian food. Some of the best raviolis I’ve ever had. They had a fantastic parisian salad dressing that was perfect, I wish I could have gotten it bottled for home. They serve fantastic fresh bread with seasoned olive oil before your meal. Always courteous friendly staff. Great for take out too.

Once upon a time, a large reunion group of friends stayed in middle of nowhere Connecticut. The group contained a mix of vegetarians, carnivores, omnivores, pescatorians, foodies, fast food junkies, and dieters. They wanted a reasonably-priced but delicious dinner somewhere local that could accommodate their large party and still satisfy everyone. So they agreed on $$ Italian, and made a reservation at Carlitos of Woodbury. The table was ready, even when the freakishly diverse group arrived at the restaurant ahead of schedule. The group feasted on a variety of dishes, like eggplant parmigiano, zucchini fritti, steak, shrimp, house made ravioli, ministone soup, salads, lasagna, pasta, and gnocchi. Portions were large, and some sharing took place. There was something appropriate and tasty for everyone. All were merry. The fireplace was roaring nearby, the lighting was dim, and the kitchen was alive and fragrant with wonderful smells. The servers were friendly and prompt. The atmosphere was simultaneously quaint and classy. The group left very pleased, with full bellies. Don’t you just love happy endings?

If you want great Italian food, order the Gnocchi al Bolognese. Loved it! The portion size is very large, in fact when they first placed it in front of me I thought ‘wow guess I know what I’m having for lunch tomorrow!’ but as I ended up finishing it because I couldn’t put my fork down! Carlito’s has a very nice ambiance, low lighting and good soft music ~ we sat in the dining room and during dinner I heard everything from Sinatra, to jazz standards, and if my ear serves me right, they even threw in some real Italian music with a little Eros Ramazotti. The service was great, very friendly and appropriately attentive. Will definitely be returning here!
