Great food! and they have really good prices on their lunch menu. My family goes here all the time. I love the lamb kabob and the grilled vegetables are excellent.

My partner and I have been looking for the best shawarma sandwich, and we were let down here. The sandwich was very dry and when cut in half, you could see one small pickle on half and the rest was completely stuffed with dry chicken. It was edible, but not delicious. I had the hummus and veggie grape leaves sandwich and it was pretty good. We also had the bread and garlic paste at the beginning of our meal and I ordered the lentil soup. The bread was perfect, but the garlic paste was not very good and the lentil soup was flavorless. I asked for a lemon, and that helped a lot.

How do you mess up lamb shawarma? I will say that their salad was excellent(though it had zero onions — WTF?), their garlic spread was quite good and potent, and the rice was decent. But I ordered the lamb shawarma plate. They did the typical thing that many Lebanese places around here do, which is use beef for their ‘lamb’ shawarma plate. They think non-Middle Easterners can’t tell the difference — no joke. Well, not only could I tell the difference, but they must use some sort of really cheap cut of beef, because it was so dry that it made me cough. There was zero juice in the meat. Zero fat. And yes, there’s supposed to be SOME fat. This meat was like halfway to being jerky. When you make beef or lamb shawarma, you are supposed to put layers of fat interspersed throughout the meat stack, so that even if you are using a really dry cut of meat, it gets some liquid fat running through the stack. You also need to make sure you have enough liquid in ratio to dry spices, and this stuff had a powdery feel around the meat that made me think too many powdered spices and not enough liquid in the marinade. It was just so dry and fibrous. Oh, and it tasted like they went overboard with the cardamom, as well. I ate a few forkfuls worth of the meat and rice and just threw the rest away. I hate doing that… it’s like money down the toilet… and then you think of starving children and all… but it was just so dry, and you can’t really fix that once the damage is done. Sad. Service and décor were great, and I wanted to like this place. Maybe they shine in other areas… but if you screw up something as basic as shawarma? Sorry. I’ll stick with Taza Fresh Grill in Southgate when I can’t make it up to the better places further north.

Always amazing;) My favorite place downriver. Can be pricey but one entrée is enough for 2 people or for 1 person to eat for 2 days!

Make up diner is the best. I had the combo platter and it was very tasty. After some bad sushi the night before this little gem was a welcome for a traveler out of his home state. The old lady who served me was curt but that didn’t dampened my experience. Might go back tonight it was so good!

Ordered carry out last night. Got a small hummus and combo for 2. The hummus was delicious and we were given a lot more than I expected! I customized my combo for 2 with kabob, chicken kabob and shawarma. It came with a lot of rice, grilled veggies, chopped tomatoes/onions, pickles and pickled turnips. We were also give plenty of extra garlic and tahini sauce on the side as well as pita bread. It also came with 2 large carry out containers of house salad with a delicious fattoush dressing. All the food was delicious, generous portions. The food can easily last 2 people for a few days. All of that was $ 38. I would definitely order from them again.

I am giving this restaurant five stars because the food is absolutely wonderful. Everything I have had here is so good. My favorite is the warm bread and garlic sauce. I would however like to mention that the restaurant itself could use some cleaning up.

Great, fresh food with many vegetarian options. The staff is extremely friendly. I have never had a bad experience here and I used to frequent this place at least once a week. Also, the house salad dressing is crazy good.

Been there 3 times. First was awesome. Everything an experience. Second time apparently short on staff(including kitchen) but it was alright. 3rd time was the charm. The waitress was almost non existent, food was overly seasoned an cashier nor anyone else spoke to us about our experience. I apologize for the bad review. But as a member of the service industry things could of been better.

I really enjoyed my food and soup. The restaurant atmosphere is a little hoaky. Our server was slow and uninterested. I’ll have to try it again for another star. I’d highly recommend the place… for carry out.

Go to Shish Palace in Allen Park. That is all I really have to say. The food lacks flavor and the salad was drenched in a dressing that took away from what could have been a flavorful meal. Very bad service as well, and to top it my girlfriend got sick from eating this proposed«Mediterranean» food.

Skip through this garden and go to the palace… shish palace in Allen Park. I stopped in tonight for the first time, and an hour later as I write this review, I feel sick to my stomach. It started out okay as the hostess seemed friendly. Then our waitress got our water and menus quickly. The bread and garlic sauce were good too. However, the meal went downhill quickly as our server disappeared for 20 minutes. By 7:20, she remembered we existed and came back, laughed a little and said ‘I forgot about you two.’ She took our order — shish kafta sandwich, side of rice, lamb grape leaves dinner with a salad and cup of lamb chili. The food arrived promptly — salad. chili…and 5 mins later, everything else. The salad was soaking wet with dressing but we were so hungry that we are it. It wasn’t bad but only had lettuce and tomato — no cucumber or onion. Next was the soup, which was hot and delicious. The grape leaves had good flavor but were dripping with grease. The sandwich was average but on the small side and the rice was under cooked and kept with the theme of the night — greasy. Strange considering they claim to be fresh and healthy. The server came back to clear plates, and this time apologized for forgetting about us, but it seemed to be tip related. She then made a comment about how quickly we ate. Honestly, we just wanted to go as the grease and bad service left a bad taste in our mouths. It was a waste of $ 25, hour of our night, and calories. After getting sick, I’ve dropped this to one star.

This is my first time coming and maybe my last :(. I had a pick up order for a spinach fattoush salad and 2 sides of garlic. I wasn’t too hungry so I just ordered something that was simple and vegetarian. This was my first time coming here. The staff was friendly which is why I gave 2 stars. I came home and to my dismay the salad was not dressed with dressing. The dressing was in a cup on the side. Unlike Al Ameer’s spinach salad that comes with the perfect amount of delicious dressing. I ordered the fattoush spinach salad because the guy on the phone said it was crunchier with pita chips. Why not? Well it looked like dried pita bread maybe not even a whole piece scrunched up on the salad :(I got my small bowl and added the fattoush dressing to my disappointment I used more than half of the dressing(I ordered a large and only 1 cup came). From the picture posted you can see it doesn’t cover the salad that well EVEN when I added garlic. I thought adding the garlic would be better, NOT! The garlic was so greasy, thick, & heavy I honestly couldn’t finish my small bowl. It was so dry with globs of this thick greasy paste. Very disappointed not every place has good salads but I expected way more for a middle eastern restaurants salad that has 4 stars. I don’t think these people have tried real Arabic food. Then again I live in Woodhaven not much was here when I moved in, in early 2000. This is exactly why I drive 16 miles to Dearborn just to get a spinach salad and garlic!

Pretty good? Not the best middle eastern food, but I patronize because of convenience. However, I did not care @ all for their shawarma. It was dry & lacking in spice. Service was pretty good.

Carry-Out Review: I was initially nervous about getting Mediterranean food Downriver but I had a taste for some garlic and powerful herb infused cuisine so I ventured around the corner to Shish Garden. I should have trusted my instincts and/or driven the extra 20 minutes to Dearborn because I was sorely disappointed in everything I ordered(except the hummus, but honestly, how do you mess up hummus??) To start, I opened up my hummus and pita bread. Unlike the warm poofs available in restaurant, I received a few packs of cold, flat pita bread. Meh. I was surprised to have not received any pickled beets with our order… I slathered up a pita triangle with hummus and garlic paste. The hummus was decent but the garlic paste didn’t pack enough garlic flavor and therefore tasted a bit oily. My small Fattoush salad was quite large but that became redundant once I started eating it. The pita chips were super soggy and had zero crunch which was my primary complaint but as I ate, I noticed the entire salad was entirely soggy. The lettuce was limp and the tomatoes lacked any texture. Womp. Moving onto my Chicken Schwarma Sandwich… It looked standard and packed the standard ingredients but the chicken meat looked quite dark to me. Most Chicken Schawarma Sandwiches seemed to have much whiter meat and the taste and color of the chicken in my Shish Garden sandwich completely turned me off as I am pretty particular about chicken. That being said, I only ate three bites before I found myself tossing the sandwich and going back to my hummus and tough pita bread.
