Bonnie S. Woodinville, WA In 1992 our family joined The Root Connection and never looked back. I was tired of spending time in the grocery store shopping for my family of five and planning meals. The Root Connection was a real pleasure to come to weekly. Our produce bag was full of fresh and delicious vegetables that expanded the concept of variety, innovation, and creativity at the dinner table! «What’s up in the garden» became the question of the week from my husband when I returned from the farm… The kids loved helping with picking fresh herbs and flowers in the summer and grew to love kale, mustard greens, chard, bok choy, and collards. We all loved reading Claire’s weekly letter about the farm and what will be ready to harvest next. The Root Connection history, along with struugles and joys When corn comes in we really can’t wait to eat the tender kernels before cooking them. Actually, I’ve been known to start eating them before getting out ot the parking lot! My children have all grown and grandchildren are in the family now. I began bringing my oldest grandson to the farm when he turned two. At three he began helping his mother and father plant seeds, water and harvest food for their table… they live in Black Diamond. My youngest son worked for a summer at The Root Connection. We have all benefited from the harvests and lessons learned from The Root Connection! My husband and I still look forward to the beginning of the harvest season… and the magical bag of farm fresh produce from The Root Connection!!!

I love to come here after a long week at work. Friendly conversation from the staff and other shareholders. Can walk around the farm and breathe fresh air. The flowers in the summer time are gorgeous — it’s fun to make a bouquet for yourself at the end of the week. I love to go visit the chickens and there is a horse riding school next door, so you get to see the horses. I love it that we can have a «city job», live in the«suburbs», but can still get back to our«roots» at the Root Connection. The veggies are extremely tasty and fresh. You even get some pumpkins at Halloween and corn stalks for decoration. Yes, they have fresh corn on the cob included in your share! I love the Bok Choy. Did you know there is more than one color to carrots? Come be part of «community» again and meet your neighbors«down at the farm». See you there!

We did the CSA in 2013 and LOVED it! We are signed up for 2014 and can’t wait until the season starts. The food is so fresh and flavorful. The carrots are amazing! We also did the optional fruit share, and really enjoyed that as well. In the summer, you can pick basil, and I made a ton of pesto and froze it for fall and winter. You can also pick other herbs and flowers. It was so fun to have fresh flowers around the house every week — often 3 bouquets. Our preschool boys really enjoy going to the farm every week and seeing what’s new. There are toys for them to play on and with, chickens to feed, a children’s garden to pick from, horses to visit next door, and lots of room to run. We often walk the whole farm and down to the river in back. Visiting the farm is a highlight of our week. We all enjoy the fresh air, we eat healthier, and it also makes me a better cook! Highly recommend this experience and this business. You can’t get more local than this!

Update #1: We’re now 4 weeks into the season and so far absolutely no regrets. One unexpected benefit: last week I picked up on my usual Friday… had the week from hell and didn’t even have time to wash it. No worries! It’s so fresh that if you don’t have the time to use it right away it keeps beautifully. Yay! I’ve switched from stashing it in zip-loc bags to solid wall containers. Prevents the yuckies that contact with the bags can have if I need to keep it a second week. Much better. What I’m using is recycled catering containers I saved from a work event. Various sizes of black bowls with clear lids.
