Loved it here. Very cute place. The food was amazing, the service was great. Staff was friendly & attentive. I will definitely be coming back here.

THESHORT: It wasn’t inedible, but there was literally nothing about any of the 6 dishes Mrs. Picky and I tried that we would ever want again. Add to that the décor from 1960’s-era Florida and it made this 4.5 star rated restaurant one of my bigger Unilocal disappointments ever. THELONG: This was my wife and I’s first time out to dinner in many many months(due to the birth of PickyWhiteGuY Jr.), so we were really looking forward to trying an Italian place with over 200 reviews and 4.5 stars. From the moment we entered and laid eyes on the décor and mostly blue-hair clientele, we knew we might be in trouble. We were right. The first course was a free appetizer plate of arancini and a mushroom spread bruschetta. Both were okay, but lacking salt to the point that we wondered if they’d made a conscious choice to stop cooking with salt in order to accommodate their(clearly sizable) over-80 crowd. Next we tried their eggplant parm appetizer and a mixed greens salad. Again, both were just okay. As in we’ve had dozens, maybe hundreds, of better versions of both. We also had to add salt to the eggplant. For dinner, we chose two pastas that we were told were made in-house. «This MUST be the reason for the high Unilocal rating.», I thought. «It’s not often you find restaurants that make their own pasta.» Again, wrong. We had the tortelloni with chicken and cream sauce and fettuccine with mushrooms. We threw away about half the fettuccine and my wife only had 1 or 2 tortelloni because that’s how little she liked them.(Even after we added — you guessed it – salt.) For dessert, we opted to take our chances at another restaurant down the street, rather than risk further disappointment. Bottom line: The owner/manager was extremely nice. The server was extremely nice(though he was handling the entire restaurant and it made for some frustrating ordering delays). The wine was good. The prices were fair. And I’m a big fan of hole-in-the-wall Italian places, especially ones that have been there for decades. But the food has to be worth the trip and theirs wasn’t.

Elegant, comfortable, family owned Italian restaurant in woodland hills. Extremely quant with a traditional feel. Salads prepared table side and minestrone soup served to you in a boiling pot poured in the bowl in front of you. Prices are surprisingly cheap. A must go to restaurant in the area. Food is fresh and extremely flavorful!

Went to this hidden gem again for our anniversary. The owner Claudio is gracious and welcoming. We took our grandkids with us and we’re treated with outstretched arms and hugs. The fish and veal dishes can’t be beat and always incredible. Try the spumoni for dessert… my favorite!

I came here for my birthday dinner and I just fell in love. This spot is super small and quaint, actually reminded me of the restaurants in Italy, the owner was a good sport but most importantly the food and wine were superb! I admit there’s an older crowd, I’d say 50+ but that didn’t bother me, as I was celebrating the big 3 – 0 but this is a spot id recommend for anyone to try, you won’t be disappointed!

Came here for the first time last Thursday with my girlfriend for her birthday dinner. We’d both never been there before and were surprised by the quaint and warm atmosphere of the place. After we had parked we were walking by looking for the restaurant and almost walked right past it. It looks like you’re walking into someone’s house, it has a door and doorstep like you would see at a residence. I really liked how it was set up, it is very intimate and small but the you can tell the owner and the staff do a very good job of keeping it clean and the tables attended to. We were immediately greeted by the owner and he told us what the specials of the day were. They bring out a free mini appetizer of garlic cheese bread and some kind of corn(or potato?) balls to dip in marinara sauce, very tasty! We ordered wine which was very reasonably priced. I had the chicken Marsala and she had the chicken parmigiana. We were not disappointed one bit. Everything here was exceptionally delicious, I highly recommend this place. Very wholesome and authentic food coming out of their kitchen, you really can’t go wrong here.

Great service. Great food. Super cute spot for a first date. Romantic but not over the top. Great ambiance and genuinely authentic Italian food. There was a short wait time and the owner offered me and my date a complimentary glass of wine while we waited! Loved that. Definitely would come back!

The best food. Great service. Claudio, the owner, is absolutely the best host ever. He is part of our extended family. Cesar salad prepared table-side is so incredible. Millennials should stick to CPK. This place is too good for you!

Great food neither needs to be fancy or in a fancy setting. This is always consistent with great food and excellent service. Claudio, the owner, is there to greet you at the door. It’s like seeing a long lost relative. How many restaurants can you think of that give you complimentary presents of rice balls and tasted bread with a delicious raised mushroom & cheese topping? Tasty bites of heaven. The drinks are solid. A martini comes in a proper size martini glass, the wines are also great. You have to order the Caesar salad. It’s prepared table side and one of the best you will ever have. All of the main courses and pastas are excellent. Make someone order the bolognese because you will want to try it! If you try to eat on the weekends, make sure to have a reservation because it’s never not packed.

GREAT food. Honestly, some of the best ravioli I’ve ever had. And they seated us on a very busy Saturday night without a reservation. However, when they brought our entrees, they set down the wrong meal in front of my father. Our waiter came over and realized this and told the expo to switch the dish to my husband. My husband barely touched his plate and burnt his finger. He immediately dunked it into the cold water as the waiter and expo walked away. We thought he was fine but eventually a very painful blister formed on his finger. My mother brought this up to the management so that the waiter would be told to tell his next table such things that the plate is extremely hot. The manager then, not only did NOT apologize but blamed it on us and that we must have not had heard the waiter. When we protested and said in fact that all 4 of us at the table heard nothing from the waiter, he did nothing but say that we were wrong and weren’t listening – and that he would never touch a plate that was that hot. …so, maybe we’d go back? Not sure. Our server also decided to add an eye roll and an «wel…ok…» when we told him we weren’t haven’t dessert. Think I’d rather try the new Luke’s place down the street instead.

This place was rather deceiving! We walked up to it with a reservation at 9pm and there was still a wait!!! It is small, and quaint, but with a wait at 9pm still, you know it must be good… And boy was it good… The service was very good, and they couldn’t have made it any better. Thank you for being on top of everything and making it so nice… On to the food. The food was truly delicious. From the appetizers to our meals, every bite was great… You can tell that everything was fresh ingredients, not pre made, and made to order… Great Italian food, and I cannot wait to go back and eat here again… SO many things I want to try because you know it just has to taste amazing!!!

At the risk of spoiling this gem, I will tell you that this is our favorite. The table — made Caesar is the best in the city. The fish specials are always wonderful. And the chef is willing to indulge your preference for a sauce, despite what’s on offer.(Their dijon mustard sauce is our go-to.) Love the free appetizers that greet us shortly after we’re seated. Solid tiramisu and crème brule. Claudio always makes us feel like old friends returning. Wait staff is consistent, competent, and courteous. Three complaints: not open on Mondays or for lunch, or for two weeks in August, when Claudio goes home to Italia. If you tell too many people and spoil this place, it will be your fault!

What an amazing place to stumble upon! thanks to our neighbors who we double dated with. Everyone working here was so personable and nice! Very accommodating with our baby. The food was incredible! From the appetizers to the delicious specials, this place exceeded my and my husbands expectations! Very dimly lit, not too noisy, small and quaint.

My boyfriend and I stumbled upon this hidden gem the other evening and we’re still talking about how amazing the atmosphere, food, and service was. First off the restaurant décor is very upscale. The second we walked in we were greeted by the owner and seated right away. We were brought water and bread shortly after and my glass never went empty. As for the food, everything was ahhhmazinggg. My boyfriend ordered the spaghetti bolognese and I ordered the rigatoni carbonara. We really couldn’t have been more pleased. Not to mention given the glamour of the restaurant the price point was surprisingly low. So there you have it, a great vibe, great food, and extremely affordable. Love this place!

The best classic Italian food! Claudio offers fabulous food at his family owned restaurant and is always around to greet you at the door. You’re treated to rice balls with fresh red sauce and mushroom cheese toast to start. The calamari is fresh, light and delicious! The freshly made to order Ceasar salad done table side is a must on every visit! They have daily fish specials which are always a treat. I love the linguini bolognese and veal osobuco. Crème Brule cheesecake is amazing. The service is perfect, the staff keeps the table clean, beverages always promptly replenished without intruding on your dining experience.

For all the reviewing I do on Unilocal, sometimes the star rankings really do leave me wanting more … it’s just hard to be so specific. Service — 5 stars. The owner is always present and very personable and funny. My wife’s family has been coming here for years so he knows all of them. He took pictures of the group for my sister-in-law’s birthday, made jokes about when she was younger, etc. There are multiple servers that help at each table refilling water and adult beverages, keeping the area clean of finished plates, bringing bread and keeping the experience without those weird lulls that can ruin a meal. Ambience — 4 stars. It’s a small restaurant, but it really has found itself a nice little niche. The room tends to fluctuate between hot and cold, I think because of it’s size. Sometimes they’ll open a door to get a little fresh air in and the temperature drops about 10 degrees in 5 minutes. But it really is lovely inside. You know you’re an important customer when the room only holds about 40 people. Food — 3 stars. I think folks keep coming back because of nostalgia. The food is good but not great. They do bring out little potato/rice balls and red sauce as a bonus to the usual free bread, which is great. My minestrone soup was fresh but not all that flavorful. My salmon in a basil sauce was flaky and crispy but, again, a little bland. They make caesar salads for you tableside, which is pretty cool, though I didn’t taste any. It all averages out to 4 stars, I feel. Parking is available on Ventura Blvd with meters that run until 8pm. Keep an eye out for the place — it’s small and just west of Fallbrook on the north side of the street. Maybe 4 – 5 buildings past the intersection, with 2 tiny steps up to an almost-hidden front door.
