I love this place!!! Everything is so yummy! I work 2 blocks form there and when I’m rushing to eat between clients, Chef Wongie is very accommodating. The food is so delicious, so flavorful. Shit, now I’m hungry for my fries with eggs on top and his special sauce!

Love this little place. I always get the Japanese Curry with a chicken cutlet and fried egg on top over ramen. My husband gets the King’s burger and says it’s delicious. The owners are friendly and it feels like a real family place. Definitely recommend if looking for something a little different.

Started simple with the Ramen, Miso broth add Chashu Pork. It was spot on. The Macaroni with Bacon sewed it up quite nicely. Its a hole in the wall for sure but the food held its own quite nicely.

Crispy chicken cutlet on top of spicy Japanese creamy curry with potato and carrot. It was filling and came with a salad. Enjoyed the atmosphere and the variety of menu items.

Sent hubby to pick up an order to go as we just had a baby and didn’t want to go out. Been meaning to try this place for a while but always kept forgetting about it. Man what we have been missing out on… yummmmm! Ordered the chicken Katsuy curry medium spicy,(was perfect amount of spicy) wongies hangover fries(omg…oh so bad for you and oh so good at the same time), and 2 pork belly tacos(hey don’t judge… I’m a foodie and love to try diff dishes even if my eyes are bigger then my belly… besides we ate everything, including the side tofu salad that came with both main dishes. Will definitely be going back to try more dishes!

First of all, the service was good and the owner was very nice. The food and its value. not so much. I ordered a ramen with fish broth and chashu. It tasted one dimensional

Our 1st visit and won’t be our last. Started with KFC wings… Truly delicious! Next we tried the full green house salad. Sounds basic but it’s not. Great flavor and presentation. For dinner we did the curry pork(awesome curry flavor) and the 4 bread Hawaiian hamburger(can’t remember the name but you get the idea) added the tempura pineapple and enjoyed very much.

Great local hole-the-wall spot that has AMAZING ramen noodle soup that fills you up and warms you up, quality food that you know is the same way they make it at home. The people who own the spot are so sweet! There is a nice sidewalk patio too!

So the owner and his family were really nice and hospitable when we arrived. We attended the music video debuting of some friends and it was banquet style held at this tiny hole in the wall, that’s been in business for over two decades. That’s amazing in and of itself. This place is tiny though, with a few tables that would fit indoors and a couple tables outside. Still, I imagine it’s a good place to grab lunch fusion style. The food I tried was their chicken wings and fries with a Thai flair(basil n curry) and sliders inspired by Vietnamese sandwich flavors with the lemongrass beef and pickled root veggies. Not bad! Reminds me of food trucking. Like the food, love the people. Awesome place. Parking in rear or metered parking at face of street.

I used to get food here a few years back and loved it. Either my taste buds have matured or this place got a different cook, not sure. First of all, the website is not well kept. Links on the home page do not work.(I checked the website again, about 2 weeks later and the links still aren’t working properly.) I should have taken this as a warning; a website that is always running efficiently is a sign of a professional business that is well taken care of. I was on there to view the menu so I could make a phone order. I wanted to order the tofu ramen, something I recalled being quite fond of in the past. The website says you have a choice of broths: Bonito soup base, miso base, curry up broth, or vegan mushroom broth. I called and ordered it with the miso base. I drove over there to pick it up. Parking is in the back with limited spaces. There is a small lot you can go to with plenty more, but it costs some. I decided to double park behind their store because I know I would be in and out. The lady at the counter was nice, I picked up my food and left. I noticed there were two containers in my bag but I assumed one of them was the broth, as some places that serve ramen package them separately from the noodles. I got home to realize I had been charged an extra fee for a separate miso soup. Might have been my fault for not checking before leaving, but if your website says you have a choice of what broth you might want to keep that in mind while taking a phone order. I took one taste of the broth and was utterly confused. How can they serve their ramen with such a tasteless broth? It was as if they put noodles in water. The shiitake mushrooms weren’t even in there either. I’ve had my fair share of ramen, even the worst I had was tastier than this bland dish. This place has a lot of potential, the other items on the menu sound good but I really can’t trust a place that charges people for the type of food I received.

The Curry Up Café had the absolute BEST Bacon Chinese Chicken Salad that I’ve ever had! I picked up food to go and was very pleasantly surprised. It’s pretty big($ 12.50) I wish they had a lunch size(hint hint). The burger was great too, we also got the fries with curry and bulgogi(teriyaki ginger beef?) was delicious. I hIghly recommended this one for very tasty food. I have driven by the Curry Up Café for years and I wish I had tried it sooner.

Overall a decent place for a quick curry fix, but I can’t say this is one of my next favorite restaurants, sorry Chef Wongie. I recently moved to this area from the Sawtelle-Little Osaka neighborhood, and I was dying for some curry. I found this place close by, and decided to give it a shot. The environment is pretty cozy, and the chef/owner is a nice guy. He even allowed some of the other customers to pick and play one of the other records he had in his collection. As for the food, I ordered a cutlet w/egg, and it came to my table after a short period of time. The cutlet, while a little cold, was still crispy, and the fried egg on top was a nice touch. The curry itself was not seasoned as much as I would have liked(compared to other places I have been to) and a little watery; however overall it was still decent. When it came to paying for the meal, I thought it was a tad on the expensive side especially comparing what I normally pay for at Sawtelle, but it wasn’t a total rip off. So if you are looking for a decent local place for some curry/fusion dishes come take a look. But personally I will still continue my search for another place to fulfill my curry fix.

Great place in the valley for some good Japanese curry. Went with the ramen burger for a change last time around but usually do the pork/chicken cutlet that never disappoint. The curry itself has got great heat and flavor to it and you can never go wrong when slathered on a bed of cheese fries. I totally dig it with the loco moco which I usually hate because I don’t like gravy but with curry it’s basically perfect. Could use a bit more curry on the plate because it’s so good but hey still not bad. Ramen burger was great quality but I’m not too huge a ramen burger guy anyway so nothing really much to say there. Curry is where it’s at for sure.

I’m not the biggest fan so far. I was in the mood for Ramen. The reviews were mixed so I thought I would give this place a chance. The Food: *My husband ordered the Chicken Curry Cutlet, and he liked it. *I ordered the Gyoza Ramen it was good. * The noodles not so good, they were overcooked and mushy. * I wasn’t a fan of the broth it lacked flavor. * The side salad didn’t taste fresh. The Service: * We ordered take out and I had to repeat myself several times. I really didn’t mind except that even after all the questions they still forgot the spicy sauce I ordered on the side. * It also took much longer than the 15 minutes they said. It’s possible that’s why my noodles were mush. All in all I may give it another try but not for take out.

Still waiting for the food so can’t really review that yet… Been half hour and still waiting for food. And that’s not including the 15 min we waited to order. And the table next to us on both sides have dirty dishes which have been there for as long as we’ve been sitting.

Ordered the Tiger Woods, an original half Thai tea half Thai coffee. Taste decent, but somewhat lacking in aroma’s found in milk tea. Beef stew curry. The beef and rice were decent, the curry sauce itself, not so much. In a curry dish, it is the sauce that can make or break the flavors. I feel as though the curry here could have been way better. Nonetheless, it’s a great place to grab a quick bite and they also have the ramen burger here.

Nice small little place. My friends wanted to grab some curry. I wasn’t thinking fusion at the time lol but it was still good. I ordered to go but the manager accidentally put my food on a plate to dine instead. He was really nice about wrapping everything up to go for me immediately which I found to be really nice of him. The food took a good amount of time to come out, especially since there was so many of us(so much of us that we basically filled up 5 table seatings lol so we had to separate the group into 3 tables and 2 tables) but the owner was really kind about it and didn’t make a fuss. The food was good. I really liked the menu options. Yes, the price was a bit high but it’s understandable as to its location and today’s economy. There is parking in the back, there’s free parking on the side and then there’s pay parking in the back($ 0.25 per 30 min. ?? I think??). There’s entry to the place from the back, it goes straight into the kitchen. It was really great to see people working so hard in the kitchen, these people care about the presentation of their food and the way it tastes. They also have a restroom inside(I didn’t use it but yes they have one). There’s also a tv. I ordered the curry pork burrito. It’s not the best I’ve had but it was good. Next time I have to come back to try their kalua pig. I’ve heard so much good things I hope to try more items. Thank you Curry Up Café!

as you can tell by my checkins, i come by a lot! Every person i have brought here instantly falls in love with the food. After four years, i thought it’d be appropriate to provide some more recent insight. Chris is always changing his menu up, and now i have a hard time choosing! The curry is still king — in fact I ask for a side of it to dip my fries/chips/quesadillas with. The bulgogi hash with eggs has great flavor that isn’t too sweet and is savory. Plenty big portion size that is a great value. The curry burrito is always served piping hot. My favorite thing about it is how deceptive it is with how much curry is actually encapsulated in the burrito. You’ll never have a bland rice bite like you do with other places. Next to try is the ramen burger… but there are is a great variety of things to try, you’ll be overwhelmed with all of the great choices! The dressing is still amazing, in fact I bought some to take home. So grab a tiger woods(half thai tea, half thai coffee) or a Mexican coke, and enjoy your culinary ride to a new food destination.

Someone get Guy Fieri on the phone, because this little gem needs to be on Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives! I came on a Monday night looking for Hawaiian food, but not your typical greasy food chain. I wanted«quality» teriyaki and curry dishes. Unilocal lead me here. It’s a little hard to find. It’s a small place, across the street from Rite Aid. I’m not sure if there was parking behind, but there was street parking. I was pleasantly greeted by the«mom» of the place. The place is very quaint, about 6 or 8 tables. I was hungry and wanted everything on the menu. Bulgogi nacho curry fries with kimchi — where have you been my whole life? I would have prefered larger cut fries over shoestrings, but overall these fries are the shhhhhhhiz! All these flavors together were just frigging magical. You’ll have to try for yourself. Hawaiian bread burger with bulgogi added — from the picture, I was expecting little sliders, so when«mom» brought this 4-roll burger to my table, my jaw dropped at it’s enormousness! This comes with a side salad, by the way. I don’t recall that being mentioned on the menu. Korean Fried Chicken — playfully coined as «KFC.» But unlike KFC, this is actually flavorful, crunchy, and a bit spicy. Would I come back? Yes!!!
