I’m slightly biased because I’ve been coming here since I was a kid, but I love this place. I went last weekend(their final day of business) and was so happy I did. I can’t remember what everyone ordered, but I got ribs, the baked beans, and fries. With extra BBQ sauce. I loved the ribs, and I forgot how AMAZING those beans are. I am going to miss going here, and I’m really going to miss that sauce. Sadly, they are now closed for business. It was a family matter. I drove from Orange County, and it was worth it. Lots of good memories of food and family here.

Sorry to see the place close. Been coming here for at least 10 years. My office is in the area. I would come here at least once every other week for lunch. Servers were nice, but the owner was weird at times. Really appeared she did not know what she was doing or how to treat customers. The baby back ribs were good, the beans were better and the garlic bread was my favorite. The prices were very fair for the amount of food you received. RIP.

The place was awful when my dad came in 1967 and it’s still awful now. The only BBQ that doesn’t serve Mac and cheese. You can blame it on the failing health of the owner, but the truth is this place never had a chance. Some of the driest burnt BBQ I ever had. PLus I live down the street and you only see smoke coming out the vents on Thursday and it’s obvious they cook Once a week. Everything is disgusting so happy it’s going!!! This is coming from someone who has 80% of their family in Texas. I know BBQ.

Just drove up for a delicious meal(2÷7÷16) and a sign hanging in the window says they are closed. Permanently. Due to poor finances and the owner’s failing health but thank everyone for their years of patronage.

Just discovered last nite the place is closing as of Saturday, have been coming since 1978. Do not know where we are going to fine better broasted chicken.

I don’t even like chicken that much, but the broasted chicken is one of the best things I’ve ever tasted. There’s a magically moment when one breaks the fried crust and steam pours out. I will miss that. I was planning to come back a few times before they closed, but I had such a bad experience that it’s soured their entire existence. Two days before closing and they are out of broasted chicken: apparently, they are just making food until they run out(permanently, not daily). The tri-tip, BBQ chicken, and mashed potatoes tasted like they had been left out under a heat lamp for too long and then covered in BBQ sauce to cover up the oldness. The servers were grumpy, overworked, and uncommunicative. The bus boy was the only human left in the place. Service is so important to me. And authenticity. That said, I think you can go out in style or just go out. I think you know how this one ended.

The fried chicken is the best. Pressured cooked extra crispy and delicious! I don’t eat anything else but that.

This is one of the best barbecue places ever. So glad I happened on this place as everything was fantastic from the barbecue chicken to the ribs, garlic mashed potatoes, coleslaw, and cheese bread to die for.

Great food with good service. This place is great for either sit down or take out. If you’re going to take out just call with your order about 20 minutes ahead and it will definitely be ready by the time you get there. Lunch specials are great if you’re going around lunch time but my go to is the tri tip sandwich. Plenty of thinly sliced tri tip stacked between a roll with some lettuce and tomatoes. I like to order it on the cheese bread. Definitely worth a few extra bucks. You get your choice of sides, I always go with fries. You seriously can’t go wrong with anything on the menu at this place, everything is so delicious and almost everything is homemade as we came to find out due to the interest my wife took in the flavor of their ranch and their barbecue sauce. There’s parking on the far corner of the same block. Make sure you get the right parking because park in the wrong place and you will be towed

Amazing BBQ! Went here for a work lunch and you definitely get more than what you’re paying for! The food was delicious and exactly what BBQ should be. Can’t believe it was my first time there. Definitely going back!

I went to this restaurant on the day i moved into my house in 1994 for the first time. We were all really tired and hungry and dirty so we weren’t looking for fancy. The restaurant is only a half mile from the hose so it was perfect. Now 21 years later we are still going out to eat here all the time. We take friends here when they come to visit. The restaurant is far from romantic, it is a old restaurant with the ambiance coming from that fact that it is true to what it is, a BBQ restaurant The people are waitstaff/management is some times super nice and some times not so much, never rude but maybe not as nice as you like when giving them your money. The food on the other hand is always good, hot and delicious. If you live close by like I do, you can smell them cooking all day. The bbq beans are crazy good, the broasted chicken is really tasty and the pork/beef dishes are always good. The BBQ sauce is warm and seasoned properly Come hungry because the portions are large

Our family has been eating here since the early ‘60s so it feels like home. You can find it by the steer statue on the roof in a busy, crowded stretch of Ventura Blvd. The BBQ meats are flavorful and well-cooked but I almost always order the delicious broasted chicken. My mom and I can share the half-chicken order and there’s still leftovers. They have melt-in your-mouth BBQ beans, killer garlic bread and fresh green salads with yummy blue cheese dressing. The BBQ sauce is sweet but with a slight underlying heat – very tasty. We probably take out more often than eat in but, when we do eat there, we are well taken care of by the kind waitresses. I hope they aren’t closing soon, as one of the reviews suggests…

I have been coming here for two decades. I will keep this short and sweet which is atypical of my usual banter. The early bird specials are one of the best deals on the planet. The Tri-Tip is my personal favorite(sliced thin by request). You get two side choices but I never deviate from fries and their BBQ beans. Spectacular BBQ beans. Dip the fries in them! Dip the fries in their original BBQ sauce. I will wait until last to mention the cheese bread which is included on the specials. It is, without a doubt, the best cheese bread in the cosmos. Great service and staff. Parking in a lot around the corner. Free parking as a side note. That covers it.

I had dinner here with a friend on a Monday night. We both had the broasted half chicken. I had the fries and salad as my sides. The chicken was moist and tasted great with the BBQ sauce. The Home made Italian dressing is great as well. Be sure to try it. This plate definitely serves 2 people, or expect to be taking some home at the end of your meal. Our waitress was so friendly and attentive. She was funny and helpful in suggesting items for us to try. Of course I went for the friend chicken. Parking was very easy. I was able to find parking on the street with a 2 hour parking time frame. Check this place out!

I want to first say the food at certain times is amazing, but I warn you to get your food to go. There is a lady there not sure if she is the owner or what. The last two times I was there with my family this lady was yelling at the staff and then started yelling at a guest. Then each time she would walk by and try to talk to me and my family by asking us questions. We just ignored her and I guess that made her mad and started yelling at our waitress. We have not been there in over a year and doubt if we will ever go back. This lady ruin a celebration dinner for our son, because she has no concept of professionalism. You ask your employee into an area where you can talk to them away from customers. It’s like watching«Hells Kitchen» — Red Neck Edition.

I think it’s important to distinguish between: Not to my taste and Not good. I think there is a little of each of these to be found at My Brothers. At least there was on my plate. I had pork ribs, beef brisket, cole slaw and salad. No discernible effort was wasted to transport the torn shards of iceberg on my plate to any place beyond what they were, save for the liberal dousing of unremarkable ranch dressing. No big deal. It was not the promise of inventive salad that brought me through the door. The cole slaw was serviceable. The brisket was edible but not to my way of thinking barbecued. Grilled? Yes. But there was no savory, smoky, complexity to speak of. There were however grill marks which were clearly defined and attractive. It was cooked competently. All in all: Not to my taste. The pork ribs, likewise, bore no resemblance to barbecue, cooked as they were on a grill. I offer the toughness as my witness. Again the grill marks were a aesthetically pleasing touch. More disturbing was the freshness of the ribs. Rancid? No. They were however, at least a minute or two past the point where a better cook would have insisted throwing them away. Possible he did not know and no one would likely be made ill by these ribs but the the taste of past-its-prime was unmistakable. I offer that only 2 ribs of the rack were eaten, as my witness. That was a first in my life: Not good. While I sat in the restaurant, I read numerous Unilocal reviews decrying the surliness of the waitstaff. While there was no warm and fuzzy of which to speak, my server and her associate were both professional during my first and final visit to My Brothers.

I was catching up with an old friend of mine in the area, and he suggested that we stop at this place for dinner. His suggestion turned out to be a good one — I was pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. The food tastes great, the portions are pretty solid for the money, and the service left me impressed. Really, there’s not much more that a diner could ask for … I ordered the Baby Back Pork Rib & Beef Rib Combo, with BBQ Beans and coleslaw as my 2 side options(the dinner also came with garlic cheese bread). The meat was tender, flavorful, and served with plenty of BBQ sauce(just the way I like it). The BBQ beans were delightfully sweet, and the coleslaw was properly made — coarsely chopped, and creamy. Truly, this was one of the better BBQ dinners I’ve had in a long time. I was impressed by the fairly massive portion of food they give you for $ 19.95(see review photos) — so as far as value goes, I’d say this place scores pretty highly there as well. Despite our arriving just before closing time, the staff was very patient with us, and made a concerted effort to avoid kicking us out until the very last possible minute. Our server was Laura, whom was very friendly, helpful, and attentive — I should also note that she is quite the pleasant and charming conversationalist as well. I can’t say a bad word about her, and I hope that we get her as our server again the next we come back here to dine. Parking was easily obtained on the curb outside.
