I have never been compelled to write a Unilocal review… UNTILNOW! BlackPine Catering & Eventing truly turned out to be the company of my dreams! After 5 years of being together, my fiancé and I seriously contemplated heading to the courthouse to get married versus incurring the cost of a wedding. After much thought though, I decided I really did want to have the opportunity to have my dad walk me down the aisle, so I PROMISED I would put together the type of wedding we envisioned while also keeping with a less than extravagant budget. I scoured the internet for a venue that was a little different or offbeat, but really came up with nothing(unless it completely broke the bank or came with too many restrictions or mandates). It wasn’t until I was reading an issue of Real Weddings that I stumbled upon an ad for BlackPine(how had I not seen this company in all of my searching before?!). I reached out to them via email and Emily promptly responded and an appointment was made. Before we met at the Barth Building, I basically already had my mind made up. The photos of the place were what I had pictured in my head all along — and I actually found it! All I needed was for the venue to live up to the photos and I would be golden. BOYWAS I SURPRISED! The venue was everything I wanted and MORE! That was it, there was no more looking… and that was the first(and only) venue I actually went to look at in person. It had the perfect amount of simplistic beauty even without any decorations… but still lent itself to be «zazzed» up a bit with some antique romance! But was I crazy? This event company really only came about a few months prior and there hadn’t been any weddings at my venue, let alone a booking or even Unilocal reviews!(My mom thought I was nuts)…But there was just something about the place. I HADTOHAVEIT! Booked! Contract Signed! Good to go! A few months later I was informed that Emily was no longer going to be with the company… and I am not going to lie… I thought, «what have I done… Is everything going to fall apart? …Who would her replacement be?» ENTER Kathryn — OMG. She is WONDERFUL! Almost instantly my fears subsided. I tried very hard not to be a bridezilla(the jury is still out on if I was one!), but I still had so many questions and details that needed to be settled! She was always so thorough and quick to respond. Her opinions were always honest and had my best intentions in mind. At no point did I feel like I was just another bride being railroaded into something I didn’t want(which was the feeling I got with many other venue responses to my requests for information). She was structured, yet flexible… and she kept the flow of everything rolling perfectly. By the end of it all, I truly felt like Kathryn was a friend, and not just a vendor for my wedding. Now onto the food… REALLY? Can wedding food really taste that good?! Originally I had intended on doing food trucks to keep the catering cost down(boy was I wrong about that!). After a few months of dead end catering research I booked a tasting through Kathryn and Chef John(why I had not done so earlier is beyond me!)…holy moly! The food was divine! We were able to try everything we wanted and generous portions at that! We got to pick and choose different items off of different menus(just because the dry rub tri tip was on the BBQ menu, didn’t mean I couldn’t pair it with the macadamia nut crusted salmon on the buffet menu). Honestly, we walked out of that tasting thinking if the food on our wedding day was even half as good as the tasting, it would still be some of the BEST wedding food we would have ever eaten. Come the day of the wedding it was just as lovely as the day of the tasting. I know that a lot of brides and grooms tend to be so caught up that the food passes them by, but Kathryn made sure to have plates ready for my husband and I with a little bit of everything(even the appetizers from earlier). I didn’t think it was possible to receive so many compliments on food at a wedding! Chef John, WELLDONE! Our wedding ended up being everything we had ever wanted it to be. Having the venue for 5 days to set up and breakdown is a DIY bride’s dream –seriously one of the best features of my venue! BlackPine, please never change that! This review wouldn’t be complete without comment on the support staff as well… They were perfect and professional! I only got to speak with a few of them during the course of the evening, but I couldn’t have been happier! The day wasn’t without its issues, but in the end they were minor in comparison to the overall feel of the event(and of no fault of the venue’s). If I had it to do all over, I would choose BlackPine every time, 100 times over and over again. My wedding will forever be everything I ever wanted… Thank you BlackPine… I don’t think it would have been possible to make me any happier on my wedding day!

Their service is impeccable and the food is excellent. I worked with Kathryn in planning our wedding day and our tasting was a highlight of the process! After a miscommunication we arrived at our tasting an hour late, stressed out and starving. Kathryn and Chef John were kind enough to stay late to accommodate us, getting us a glass of wine right away and then serving the most fabulous meal I have ever had. Chef John’s creations are truly delectable and I’m so glad that our perfect venue, Windmill Farm & Vineyard, came with a perfect caterer as well! Kathryn did such a wonderful job taking over completely on our wedding day — it was so valuable to have her there keeping us on our schedule while my groom and I were able to let ourselves get fully swept up in the spirit of the day. We enjoyed our wedding day SO much and there was zero stress, only joy and love and lots of fun. I cannot recommend BPCE enough.

I am proudly writing this recommendation for BPCE with a smile on my face and warmth in my heart. I have never encountered a more thorough and detailed company in my life. They made my dream wedding come true. Emily Murphey consistently contacted me with suggestions, ideas, and recommendations that I never even thought of. She truly understood my style and was able to capture this vision with ease. She went above and beyond her call of duty to make sure everything was picture perfect. I can’t imagine how many hours she spent perfecting every little detail. John Gamboni helped us prepare a mouthwatering menu and allowed us to utilize our family’s own organic grown produce and locally raised lamb. We were able to create our own unique appetizers, entrées and side dishes which made our special day even that much more special. Our guests were amazed by the flavor and still talking about how our wedding dinner was the best they’ve ever had! Truly a testament of John’s capabilities! Hiring Blackpine was the best money we spent and there is no doubt that this is the best company out there. Looking back, I couldn’t imagine my wedding day without them. Look no further, check out and contact Emily today! I promise you it will be worth every penny!

As a Wedding Entertainment Director, I’ve had the pleasure of working at a wedding at the Windmill Vineyards as well as the 630 Lincoln site and the 423 First St. site for a birthday party with one of our staff DJs. For us, we’re always interested in something out of the ordinary, not just another square ballroom with patterned carpeting and beige walls. The 630 Lincoln site has a WOW factor for guests that is extraordinary, from the pub to the library to the dining and dance areas. Windmill Vineyards, for those who want a rustic outdoor setting, is incredible. Hard to imagine how a bonfire at a summer wedding would be such a big hit, but with the horseshoe pit, the dance floor, the beautiful open grounds and the stars out above, it’s a venue that stands on its own. Can’t wait to get back there again!
