Ellen Liebowitz

Several years ago I was searching for a new optometrist and word of mouth led me to this great office. Dr. Leonard is who I primarily seen but on occasion I have been seen by other optometrists in this office and they’ve all been great! Not only the optometrists but their support office staff are always efficient, professional with a dose of niceness sprinkled liberally. Today I saw Dr. Leonard and had a pleasant exam and then Lupita helped me pick out glasses with the care and honest opinion that she’d give her own mother! Due to working a very late shift of work I am very tired, but this was worth dragging myself out of bed for! I also appreciate that I was called off a waiting list so that I could get in before my insurance coverage expired at years end!!!

Dr. Leonard is friendly, professional and very thorough. She listens to what you have to say, answers all your questions, and never makes the appointment feel rushed. You have to make your appointment over a month ahead of when you need it but when you’re there for your appoinment they take you back almost as soon as you get there.
The only problem is they don’t call to tell you when glasses or contacts are ready. The receptionist doesn’t stay on top of that. Oh and if you have asthma keep in mind that they have a VERY strong air freshner in the reception area. The air fresher alone is making me consider finding a new place but not everyone would have an issue with that.

I have been using this optometrist office for years and have only had excellent service. I give them my highest recommendation!

I don’t think it is possible to get better care than Ellen provides. She is epitome of thorough! I have had some very challenging eye issues and her persistence has made my vision the best possible. She is creative in finding solutions and spends as much time as needed — always with a smile and positive attitude. Ellen has also helped in emergency situations (sending contacts to East coast during a vacation) and is always available for a consult via email or phone. I travel from the East Bay to see her. Need I say more.

My son and I have gone to this optometrists for year’s and have had good service. The reason for the 2-​stars is because they have decided to see Medi-​Cal recipient’s only once a month, hence being put on a waiting-​list. Before this it was not a problem to get an appointment. Luckily we found an optometrist in Davis that gave us an appointment quickly and great customer service.
I took my son eye prescription to Ellen Liebowitz to be filled, and 2 – 3 weeks go by without a phone call. I had to call myself to see if the glasses had arrived. I think that is major fail on their part… a simple phone call can do wonder’s.

I have been using this place for more than 5 years. Never had a problem. Everyone on their staff is very helpful. Dr. L is very nice and sweet. When my glasses need minor repairs, I just go in and they help me right away without charging me crazy fees. I don’t plan to move anywhere else. I am a happy client :)

Dr. Liebowitz is a very thorough and honest optometrist. She’s friendly and funny too! I highly recommend this office.

I have been a patient of Dr. Leonard for a few years and I agree, she is great and very nice.
The receptionist however, is not friendly at all and can come off as rude. Good customer service and having a pleasant demeanor are essential in the reception area of a business.

Ellen is the very definition of awesome! My family has been going to her for a long time, even back when her office was in the Woodland «mall». She has always been so nice and friendly and helpful over the years. All of the staff here have been great during every visit. Even when when I was first trying out contacts and I was having a heck of a time with them, they were super patient and encouraging during my well over an hour ordeal. Amy is super sweet as well, I recommend getting with her if Ellen isn’t available.
They get your contacts ordered FAST too, which is convenient because I often forget I’m out until I’m on my last pair and it’s time to change them.

Review for Dr. Leonard…
Switched to her after losing Kaiser vision and have never regretted it. She is fast, friendly, efficient, gentle, and has an excellent bed (chair?) side manner.
Eyeglass service is top-​notch as well, they take care of any breaks that result from my inevitable clumsiness with aplomb, often under warranty.

I am a new patient with Dr. Liebowitz and I have been very happy with her services. I was referred to her by a couple of co-​workers that swore by her.
I am nearsighted and I have been wearing glasses for just a few years. I decided to get contacts, because I got tired of my sister haranguing me about looking like an old lady with my hair bun and glasses (I’m 32). I had previously gone to Eyes on J in downtown Sacramento for my eye care needs, but, among other things (you can read my review), I needed an optometrist closer to work.
Dr. Liebowitz was dedicated to making sure that I was fitted with good, comfortable contact lenses. I went through 4 or 5 samples and almost as many visits before I found a pair that felt good on my eyes for a longer period of time. Dr. Liebowitz is also really engaging and fun, which is not usually a trait I find in most doctors.
I was really impressed with Dr. Liebowitz and excited that I found her. I highly recommend her.

I have been wearing glasses since I was 11 years old. I am now 58. Having had many many eye doctors in my life I can honestly say that she is the best damn eye doctor I have ever had. Nuff said. Try her you won’t be disappointed. My only regret is that I don’t live close anymore so I relegated to mediocrity

Dr. Ellen is just great — very thorough. She’s been our optometrist for more than twenty years. We highly recommend her!
