I live in this area and have been going to the Bull Hole for as long as I can recall and also taking my sons. Yes. It’s rural. You will see«country» people there. They are locals. If you want a city park with food vendors etc, then go to a city park. If you want to chill and enjoy nature, then this is the real deal. I do suggest old shorts and tennis shoes if getting in the water. This is not a city pool. You will see moss covered rocks and may fall in if you are not coordinated.

We visited Riverpark at Cooleemee Falls on Thursday, July 5th on one of the hottest days of summer — 99 degrees in the early afternoon. The water pouring over the dam onto the broad flat rocks looked really inviting, but we weren’t dressed for swimming after our lunch at nearby Keaton’s Barbecue, so we just enjoyed the scene. Dozens of people played in the water and a concession stand had been set up selling a hot dog, chips, & drink for $ 3.00. A good deal! Sadly a little boy playing in the water got cut on a piece of broken bottle that some redneck(sorry, but it really made me mad) had thrown on the rocks just to see it break. Wear sneakers or water shoes when you come to play in the water at Riverpark at Cooleemee.

Flooded! No FLOODED! ! ! Check out the photos of how this place looks when Becky took her photos then mine! Mounds of mysterious looking Foam were floating on top of the water — I had a bad feeling about this because of the level of flooding here it could be something really bad! Maybe this place is better when not flooded, though I can not imagine it being a lot better. It is easy to imagine those in the neighborhood having a lot of fun here in the Summer! If you live nearby you may want to visit, though I’m not recommending to visit from far away — There were some«shady» characters hanging out here and so few people(no normal people) I wished I had brought some security with me!
