Dov Herman is a true professional! Dov has a very well run home inspection business. Not only do I use him personally for my business and my clients but I refer him all the time.
Dov, is super efficient and has equipment that the other outdated guys do not. He uses infrared cameras to check the quality of studs, search for any leaks or any abnormalities throughout the inspection.

When Dov Herman of 516-​Inspect arrived at the future home which I was going to purchase it was all business. Dov conducted himself very professionally and pointed out some outdated electrical fixtures, the type of flooring throughout the basement and was very thorough in inspecting walls and joints using sophisticated electronic equipment. I think the inspection was excellent. When I received the final report there were many pages accompanied by photographs. I followed Dov as he made the inspection throughout the house and was very satisfied. I would definitely recommend 516-​Inspect to anyone who needs his home inspected prior to purchasing it.

Unfortunately I found the inspection to be superficial in many respects. Large portions of the report were boilerplate with little customized text of recommendations. In fact some of the boilerplate options hadn’t been properly selected/​edited, and the report said «The windows have wooden frames. The windows have metal frames.» There were fewer photos than I have received in other reports which would be an issue for people not in attendance. The inspection of the mechanical systems was also limited mostly to «surface» observations. In many ways for the somewhat knowledgeable handy person, the only item of value was the IR test of the breaker panel and a few other similar things.

Be weary!!! I completely regret using their services for they took advantage of my ignorance to the inspection process (aka first home). Upon inspection of my heating cooling and hot water heating (10 mins into the inspection) he said they were not turned on. To which I said should we postpone this? He said not unless you want to pay me again to come back claiming he could visually inspect anyway and no big deal. It was a big deal and 3 different companies have stated upon visual inspection these unit were installed wrong and that the issues were obvious and hazardous without needing to be turned on at all. Also my roof has major obvious leaking issues as well as the side of the building were also obvious!
You can NOT sue him because in basically says so in his cleaver agreement which he knows must people do not read (like me) till after the damage is done. I had to write this knowing there are other 1^st timers out there getting poor inspections like me! Be Weary!!!

I have to agree. Dov inspected an apartment I am trying to buy in Harlem. He missed substantial water dame in a bathroom. When I got keys to inspect myself, found cockroach issue and the damage. I did two things
1) took photos immediately and 2) took a screen shot of his customer satisfaction on his website.
I sent him pictures and he updated his report indicating items should be repaired. (to date my seller refused to acknowledge this new report)
This updating of the report is a de facto admission of his error. I asked for compensation and ran into a brick wall.
He even consulted with his «attorney» and he sent me his response via email. It was clearly not a legal opinion.
This guy in my opinion is unscrupulous and not in anyway professional or of good character. Avoid at all costs.
I never write reviews but was so moved by his blatant lack of customer service AND acknowledgement of an error that I am now taking time to do this and report him to the BBB in New York.

The company NY Inspect sucks and as far as I can tell Dov Herman the man who runs it is a hack. Let me tell you why. I was referred to him from my broker, (stupid I know but I’m a first home-​owner and since she was working in my interest and she claimed Corcoran uses him all the time I thought it would be fine). How wrong I was. First off he missed some very obvious structural problems at the base of the house. a problem that cost me around 2K to fix. But the bigger problem is he said my roof was good and it was NOT. On the day of the inspection he merely popped his head out of the hatch and claimed «fine» in fact the roof was a mess and was leaking around the skylight of the house. Of course he took out some fancy tool and told me that the leak around the skylight was old… again wrong wrong wrong. At this point I shudder to think what else he missed. When I called him on it he did nothing. DO NOT use this guy. suck suck suck suck suck-​a-​doodle.
