I had an overwhelmingly positive experience here. I came in to get Color IQ’d for Kat Von D’s tattoo foundation. I’m a huge lover of all of her products and have had the foundation on my wish list for a long time. The sales associate asked me about my skin type and after I told her I get really dry, she told me KVD might not work and would appear caked on in dry areas. She still tested it on me but also tested 2 others. After doing the color IQ, there wasn’t an exact match anyway but she still tried the closest one on me. She asked me if there were any other ones I was interested in, but I didn’t have anything in mind so she picked a Tarte and Makeup Forever one and swatched all 3. I ended up going with the Makeup Forever because it was a perfect match, even though it seemed more like a medium coverage instead of the full coverage kind I came in seeking. The reason I was so impressed with the service is because she went out of her way to make sure all of my questions were answered. Sometimes I feel a little rushed at the JcP Sephora’s but she took her time helping me. She offered to apply the foundation for me to my full face but we had plans and I didn’t really have much time to spare. I also qualified for VIB so she went over all of the perks in detail and made sure I got my free gift and coupons. I’ve had Color IQ done at multiple locations and she was the first one that told me to save it to my online profile so I could still shop online with it. I don’t remember her name now, but I made sure to log in and do the survey right away because I was happy with my experience.

Expected selection from a Sephora inside JC Penney. Service depends on who is working. I came in one morning and there was a nice girl who was on the floor by herself. She was very friendly and she successfully muti-assisted everyone in the store. Another time, the Z Squad was on the clock. I ran in to get a lipstick and witnessed two employees sitting at the Beauty Studio painting their nails. At that time, I had only been to that location once before, so I asked where I could find my product. One girl answered«over there», nodded in the direction, and lifted her hands in the air, palms down as if she were in a nail salon. I don’t know if she did that to show me that her nails were wet, but unfortunately I was already well aware.

I came here and was looking for BB cream. They greeted me right away. And they helped me with amazing BB cream from smashbox and they even gave me a sample of it to take home! A nice lady named Bunny helped me and she was so nice!!!

This spot deserves better than one star. It has a very convenient location. You don’t have to wander into a mall to find it, it is right in JC Penny. It has all the basics and some of the better brands like Nars, Kat Von Dee, and Anastasia Beverly Hills. Even though the selections within these brands is limited, it has the essentials. The two ladies working there were not entirely helpful. One put foundation on my neck in three different shades and didn’t wipe it off afterwards. I could have asked her for a wipe but she seemed rushed so I just let it go(i was headed home anyways). ‘By the way, if you put make up on someones face, you should wipe it off and even it out ladies’… The staff here is not that knowledgeable, that being said, I usually go in knowing what I am looking for. The people working there don’t know the specifics of what you need, normal use, occasion, etc. so go in with your own basic understanding. If you are totally lost when it comes to make up, check out YouTube videos or go pay an artist to help you get started.

Really disappointed with the lack of knowledge the sales associates have here. I came in looking for some new Vitamin C serum. I’ve been using Mad Hippie Vitamin C serum and was happy with the results. I was looking for the Perricone MD Vitamin C Ester Serum, which received stellar reviews on and quite a few other sites. So I was markedly distressed to find out that this location doesn’t carry that brand at all. While looking at the right side back wall, I was really surprised to see what honestly looked like a random smattering of brands. But they weren’t. Murad was displayed alright and lit well. Olé Henrikson, Peter Roth Thomas, Kate Somerville, ect were all kind of just there, together, with no rhyme or reason. Besides that maybe they are high end products, merchandised as if they were an after thought. It’s hard to drop $ 80+ on any beauty product but especially when they aren’t merchandised like the power players that they are. Sigh. That’s not even the worst part. A super friendly sales associate asked if she could assist. After I told her I was looking for C Serum with at least 15% vitamin c. She replied that she didn’t know the percentages but recommend a few different ones that I tried on my hand. I thanked her and walked around for a minute to see how the serums settled in. Not one of them settled the way it should have. Although one reason could be because C serum should be kept out of the light and heat(ahem white hot store lights) and can deteriorate and expire rather quickly when it’s not. I’ll never know, but what I do know is that when I walked back to that area to check out those same bottles, what did I see? Right under the price of the Olé Henrikson serum I was considering, a small description saying that it was 10% vitamin C. My friendly sales associate should’ve known to read the description before I did. But lesson learned on my part and I know better now. There where actually 2 friendly associates who ended up «helping» me. Still walked out empty handed. I won’t be returning to this location mostly because of the disappointing selection. But this just didn’t give me the full excitement that a regular size Sephora does.
